Management and staff are very rude

Management and staff are very rude. Lazy and don't assist in anything. Always a dirty store and with expired food on shelves. Called corporate and they rewarded this employe for being rude and obnoxious. This has to be known by most customers as they are no different from one customer to the next . They hire undesirables and they are the worst I have experienced. This is not going in unnoticed as I and others know this establishment is , undesirable. . Galena Blvd. Aurora IL . Tameca is a Dog and rude.

Crappy app and no one answered phone

Dollar General app keeps cutting out.Tell me to log in multiple times cutting out coming back, cutting out coming back.And when I call nobody answers the phone and if this is how your company is going to be going, then you should not be in business anymore.I'm going to be making a report to the Better Business Bureau.If this keeps continuing, it's been happening for 3 years.Fix it or face the federal penalties

No one is managing the staff/stores

I am in agreement with many reviews. I have gone to multiple Dollar General Market in Lexington and Prosperity, SC locations. The staff need training in customer service. One cashier told me their express lanes could not be used because they had too much staff, but I almost always have to find the staff. Many times, I have had to resort to yelling out “is anyone here” to find someone after I walked each aisle to try to locate someone. Twice, someone would yell back at me from the office, never coming out of that office. Then, someone all of a sudden appears from the back. Dollar General Market has a good concept, and the potential for business is available at all locations I visit, but if it takes considerable time to find someone to find/buy an item, why have the business? A neighbor of mine told me they never found anyone and finally threw down their $5 bill on the cashier’s counter and walked out with the item and did not plan to return. I heard that there is a problem with theft. If that is true, I can see why. No one is watching the stores. You need managers that manage their people and the store and don’t sit in the office all day. You also need 2-3 people out in the store to assist customers and watch the store. Keep your express lanes open.

Did I mention there’s never anything in stock

Every single time I go in there they’re out of something more than they were the time I went in there before. Since the grocery store has left town, I am absolutely sick of the Dollar General and what they do not have to offer. There’s never anything in stock and did I mention that there is never anything in stock.?? Do better!

The local manager of Dollar general is…

The local manager of Dollar general is not only rude but he is very disrespectful to people with disabilities. Yes my husband had drinking problem 2 years ago. But he is fully recovered and has not touched a drop since. I am disabled and need help because of my legs. They tend to get weak and I could fall . Please let him back in the store

I made the mistake of ordering delivery…

I made the mistake of ordering delivery through Dollar General today. Do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs. The delivery driver didn’t know where he was going, also he told me that something was not available so it wasn’t delivered. So I went to the store to see my unavailable item sitting at the counter. And when I tried to talk to the Dollar General employee about it she didn’t want to know a damn thing. She blamed DoorDash. I had no idea when I placed the delivery that it was coming through DoorDash. The DoorDash driver did not follow directions. I had to drive around my building and I found him outside wandering around after being given detailed directions. Now Dollar General is telling me that I didn’t actually pay for the item that wasn’t delivered but my bank account says differently. It’s the worst delivery experience I’ve ever had. Just don’t do it.

If I could give them a lower rating, I would. Overpriced compared to other retail stores very misleading, rude employees, and they advertise 50% off then they don’t give you the 50% off, then they won’t make it right. Then you complained that the corporate office and never get a call back. That’s how much they care about their customers. Dollar General is a dollar short and a day late. Terrible place.

Worst store ever

Worst store ever. Rude staff. Approached Anna, for items advertised in store, was told items on website wont match what's in the store.
Asked about a price and was told to scan it myself on my phone. Not sure how to even do that. Are they going to pay my data rates, if they expect customers to use their phone for something we have no idea how to do it?
The salesperson seemed very inconvenienced when asked to help me. I almost just walked out. It seems stocking shelves comes above helping customers. Yet, they advertise family, friendly first.
Spent 47 dollars but I wont be back.
Not worth my time or money here.
She was more into stocking shelves than helping. She might has well not opened her door today. No wonder nobody else was here.
Not a way to treat the elderly or anyone for that matter. Shame on Dollar General.

When trying to sign in

When trying to sign in, it expects me to review the 16 min. read "privacy policy" as well as the 22 min. read "terms & conditions". Then after I sign in and try to clip a coupon, it knocks me back out and I have to start all over. Again, the privacy policy and the terms & conditions! Then, it decides to lock me out and wants me to try back in 20 mins.

The Dollar general in Marionville Mo . I have No chance of buying my kid any Pokemon cards . They told this guy when the drop day was so he comes in and buys them all every time and. Store always this . Even wal mart puts limits on Pokemon cards . I talked with three different people including manager none of them care . I’m pretty sure they just hold them back for him .

Prices Listed On Shelf Are Not What You Pay

Pay very close attention when your items are being rung up at the register and speak up when you see an incorrect price come up. I know it's "only 30 cents" but consider how many other people are being charged that extra money as well.

Dollar General was sued by the State of Missouri in September of 2023 for deceptive pricing tactics: charging more at the register than the shelf tag says. Finally, in December 2025, they were ordered to pay people back and correct their prices, so this is a real issue.

Like many other people, I don't like shopping there but shop there out of necessity. Just be aware and don't let them steal from you. Hopefully they will improve from here on out, but I caught two more incorrect prices just yesterday, in March 2026, 90 cents worth in total, and made them correct it at the register even though there were people behind me in line. I will not let them get away with it. Buyer beware.

Poor customer service

I went into your store in Sierra Vista AZ store #2682 and as I was checking out I needed some help since you have only self checkouts and heaven forbid that they would open one of those registers. Needless to say she was the rudest person I have ever met. She had a very flippant attitude and I am amazed she still has a job since I can’t be the only one she has been rude too.

Bad app

I don’t understand why we need an app just to get a deal. The app barely works, and the coupons seem to apply randomly, if at all. I’ve had multiple situations where I followed the rules, had the correct items, and the coupons still didn’t apply at checkout.

When I asked employees for help, they told me there was nothing they could do even when I showed them the app and the coupons that were supposed to work. No explanation, no solution, just “we can’t fix it.” That’s incredibly frustrating.

At this point, it feels less like a way to save money and more like an excuse to collect personal information like phone numbers without actually delivering on the promised deals.

Overall, the experience is unreliable and disappointing. If you’re going to require customers to use an app for discounts, it should at least work consistently.

Positive Employee Review

Hello,
I don't need discounts or coupons.
I frequent store number 9711 since there is no grocery stores in my small town.
I've never reviewed "any" department store or their employees. I'm always polite but not easily impressed. I go in a store, purchase what I need and leave.
I just wanted to recognize Quinton at this store. He always greeted me from the register when I walk in, even when he's busy at the register. When I check out, he again asked how my day was and if I found everything I needed.
After about the 4th time this happened, "over a couple of months", I complimented him on his positive attitude. I'm sure that I'm not the only customer to notice. DG needs more employees like Quinton at store #9711. Maybe you could offer him a position as a trainer. For me to take the time to leave this review, He's worthy.

Store 10192 in Muskegon Michigan the…

Store 10192 in Muskegon Michigan the cashier said her name was raven when I asked. She had zero customer service skills did not welcome customers coming in and didn’t not bother to speak with us while checking out (two separate transactions) while my daughter was checking out in front of me the cashier stuck her hands down the back of her pants to scratch her ass then proceed to continue scanning items. Thankfully we carry wipes with us and wiped the items down ourselves. She did not even acknowledge me and I had to say hi hello how you doing multiple times for her to even speak. Dirty looks and grunting the whole time. This store in general has always had meh staff but she was the worst as the manager just stood there not saying anything when this girls hand was down her pants. Very likely I will just go to one of the other 50 locations in town from now on
