Ember Inns Avis 

Today at The Sandringham, Bristol we were served by Ashleigh.
She greeted us (and our dog) with a genuine smile, and served our drinks.
Later she popped to the table to check everything was alright.
She pops around the pub with a cheery song to herself.
Thank you Ashleigh, for making us feel welcome, and appreciated.

Visited Ember inns Formby site (The Railway) with famiy and was shockingly appalled. The food was awful, after paying over £80 for meals we had them arrive uncooked and not as ordered. We were amazed to find that after paying £12 for a (substandard) burger, we were then expected to pay extra for barbecue sauce?! Even Mcdonalds give this for free! The staff were surly and unhelpful and the barman was more interested in chatting up an old lady at the bar than serving customers. No staff came over after the meals were served, I assume they have learnt better than to ask customers how their food was. This was honestly the worst meal I've ever paid for and wouldn't return if the meals were free.

20th Jan 2024 Sandringham in Downend Bristol. Table pre-booked for 730pm, upon arrival told an hour's wait for food. Order placed, no effort made by staff to show us to our table, no effort made by staff to clear our table full of empty bottles & glasses. Food duly arrived an hour+ later. 3 mixed grills, almost inedible steak and gruesome sausages. Not an enjoyable experience at all for almost £100. Absolute rubbish.

It was my Birthday today Saturday 20-1-24 & as I’m housebound we decided to try Ember Inns Nottingham to be delivered to my home myself & my daughter ordered steak 1 Sirloin- rare & 1 Rump - well done, my son had a Bacon Cheeseburger & I spent over £55. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY. The steaks were so rubbery that not even a sharp kitchen knife could slice either & as for trying to chew them NOT A CHANCE, I nearly choked on a piece of steak that I tried to chew & it slipped down my throat when I least expected it to do. The Beef dripping gravy was like brown coloured dish water, the Onions rings & Portabello mushrooms looked like they were ready to be used in a science experiment !!!. Clearly the steaks hadn’t been rested sufficiently because they were swimming for their lives in the liquid that had come out of them. The Onion rings looked & tasted like a child’s soggy nappy not an inch of crispness to them. The Chips were too fat & too many !!!!. Unfortunately myself & daughter could not consume this unpalatable food TOTAL TOTAL WASTE OF money, my son seemed to be the only one to eat their food but I don’t think he enjoyed doing so. If want to have a decent meal DONT GO TO EMBER INNS. I’m truly angry & upset with these places that take your money & in return you get something that’s NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. TAKE HEED TO MY WARNING WE HAVE TO MAKE THESE ESTABLISHMENTS ACCOUNTABLE FOR TRYING TO RIP PEOPLE OFF. They
TOTALLY RUINED MY BIRTHDAY, I can’t believe what I ended up with, how could they think it was ok to serve such an abomination to me & my family. If I couldn’t of given NO
stars then that’s what they would of got because giving 1 star suggests to people
that maybe there’s room for improvement
BUT THERE ISN’T not even in a parallel universe !!!!!!!!!!. If you read other reviews on Trustpilot you will see that we are not the only people to receive such an abominable service from Amber Inns & I believe that they won’t feel like they have to be accountable to us either. I spoke to my daughter today & to my utter amazement she told me that she gave her dog the food that we didn’t eat which was almost ALL of it & after this she suffered an awful bout of diarrhoea in the early hours of Monday morning !!. My family & I most certainly will NEVER EVER order food from Ember Inns neither for delivery or by going to their restaurant we will find somewhere else to go to !!!. They seriously DO NOT CARE about their customers & the BAD reviews given by quite a lot of their customers giving 1 star ratings !!!!. It is truly shocking that they don’t care a jot about how their business is being reviewed or about giving decent customer service, the arrogance of this pub franchise/group is terrible. They should be accountable & show their customers that want to do better. I suggest that you avoid them like the plague, save your money & just forego their establishments if you want to waste your money just throw it down the toilet instead !!!!.

We had our Christmas lunch at the Ship Inn Rainhill today 12 of us ,it was absolutely one of the best weve had.Thank you so much Tracy & all the staff plenty of it lots of everything ,served well & pleasantly. Cant fault anything. Thank you we were four generations & it suited all of us .

A very disappointing Christmas lunch, at The Mawney Arms in Romford, with a group of 14 friends. Booked this a couple of months ago. There appeared to be be no problem with the booking at the time and we paid a deposit. On the day of the lunch Thursday 14th December, we received an email asking if we could be there 15 min early, 11:45 for 12:00. When we arrived we were told there would be a delay as they had just received a delivery, which they had to deal with first. Nearly an hour later we had to ask when we would receive our starter. Nearly three hours all together before the deserts were served. 5 plates of profiteroles served all of which were frozen solid. We complained to the staff, the chef came out and said "This is the way they are delivered to us and its the Company policy to serve them frozen" When we said "They should be thawed before serving" He said I'm the chef I know what I am doing" We cancelled the rest of the deserts and left. Absolute disgrace. No apology from the Guy who seemed to be the manager. Just a remark "we don't usually serve such large groups. I am told that another member of our group complained to head office and was told the chef said he was shouted at! No one shouted at the chef. Three hours to serve a party of 14 is unacceptable and not even an apology. I hope all 14 send in a review.

Great service, lovely venue but mostly the most fantastic pub food I've had in a long, long time. The slow cooked beef rib was beyond delicious.
I cannot recommend the Hare and Hounds at Maghull highly enough. We had 2 courses and we could not fault a thing with any ofnour meals. The staff were engaging without being intrusive.

Pre booked 6 people for our Christmas meal a month ago at The Star Hotel Burntwood and paid £10 deposits. We had all decided on our 3 courses off the Christmas menu, when we went to the bar to order we were told we were unable to order off the menu because you have to pre-book and pay a £10 deposit. I explained we had paid the deposit but we’re not asked to pre book. We were told there was nothing they could do about it and would have to order off the normal venue. We went back to our table deflated and had to explain to our partners that they had to order off the main menu. My wife decided on the Seabass and another lady plumped for fish we went back to the bar and were told there was no fish available!! The barman went to the kitchen to find out what else wasn’t available, they had 2 sirloin steaks left which myself and another guest went for… big mistake we both struggled to get our Steak knives through. My wife went for the gammon and again struggled to cut through it. The other 3 meals were ok. We have used the Star regularly for years as well as Embers bowling Green pub in Lichfield, I have my loyalty card full which I won’t be using. Our Christmas night out was completely ruined thanks a lot Ember Inns 😡

I went to the Olton Tavern in solihull with friends. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad which I can only describe as a bowl of slush. I don’t mind a few slices of courgettes but there must have been three whole courgettes sliced on there. I took these off and tried to continue with the rest of the salad but it was so unpalatable I couldn’t eat it.
I then spoke to a member of staff who was lovely who informed the manager of my distaste. The manager then spoke to me and was clearly not interested in what I was saying. I think she needs to take a leaf out her staffs book on good manners because she hasn’t any. I certainly won’t be going back there.
What a difference from the experience at the Field House in Solihull which was fantastic

I was with 3 other ladies tonight at Embers Inn, Mawney Arms, Romford for a meal and drinks. We were looked after by a fabulous barman, Adam, who attended to our every whim. He was amazing. Well done Adam, your attention to detail made our evening very enjoyable, and we will definitely be back.

What an absolute pleasure it was to take my 2 daughters there today for breakfast with santa. Dale went above and beyond for both of them that are both on the spectrum. She made them feel comfortable and tret them like her own children the service from the service all round was brilliant the food was excellent. I will definitely be returning.

Had a great night at the Three brooks in bradley stokes, staff were very friendly atmosphere was good The drinks with friends really made the night, differently be going back for christmas drinks with my work colleagues/ family

Oh dear, Woodpecker is truly diabolical! It's genuinely an embarrassment - never invite friends or family to eat with you, they will show you up.
We use this pub regularly because it's close to home, but more often than not they are either not serving food at all, don't have what we order, or deliver to the table what we didn't order without telling us - even the beers on tap are regularly not available. The managment training is clearly non-existent, which is a shame because this pub is the best situated pub in the area - to do it this badly is truly a work of genius.
EMBER INN'S - for goodness sake READ THESE REVIEWS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
We only tolerate it because it's on our doorstep.

Excellent service from all the staff.
Girl who served our meal always smiling polite and caring.
Our meal was cooked well and arrived within a reasonable time from taking the order ordering.
We have been coming to the White Cross on a regular basis for the two years.

Ordered a beef Sunday lunch St the Longhorn in Walsall.
It was disgusting. Frozen tasteless potatoes. The beef was chewy and fatty. The gravy tasted like an oxo cube that wasn't dissolved properly.
And I'm still trying to find the vegetables. There was nothing on the plate. But maybe that was a good thing.
Wouldn't eat here again or recommend.

Stayed at Hornchurch Railway Inn... Had a really good experience, everyone was pleasant and I had no problems during my stay. The rooms were a tad warm but that could only be solved with aircon which would make the rooms more expensive

An absolutely terrible experience at one of your restaurants!!!
Stone cold food with exceptionally poor customer service!! The staff were rude, unfriendly and unapproachable.
We had dined there following a bereavement but will certainly not be returning! What a disappointing experience!

The Green man in Harborne. Very poor service ordered food it took ages for basically a sandwich to turn up 50minutes. The steak sandwich was tough and cold. I told the staff unacceptable the time considering the pub was almost empty. Staff went on to tell me didn’t I see that they had just changed staff. That’s not my problem.
Poor quality and poor attitude.

I recently visited The Easington in Banbury. The staff were helpful but did get our order incorrect. This was rectified quickly. However, the menu is very misleading. There are only 2 vegetarian options on the main menu. The vegan burger came out with just a salad. When we questioned this, we were told that it stated it was just a salad on the menu. This is not true. At the top of the burger section, it says that all burgers come with salad and fries. Why do the the writers of these menus thing that it is okay to charger over £10 for a burger and small side salad, especially when meat is more expensive that vegetables?

Just had a fabulous meal at the North Star Ember Inns Worthing. We had their special 2 and 3 course deal which was great value for money. My husband had the chicken tikka Kashmir curry with onion bhajis to start served with yoghurt and mango chutney dip and I had the rump steak (perfectly cooked).The service was impeccable and friendly. Desserts were delicious, vanilla pod ice cream and sticky toffee pudding with custard (surprisingly the lowest calorie dessert on the menu!!) Will definitely go again.
