Machines a bit old but do the job, good service, clear pricing and competitive; they refunded the deposit quickly.
Called these to get a rate on hiring a couple of sanders over the Christmas period. Couldn’t confirm if he had stock and was very rude on the phone. Avoid!
I have rented machines from this company many times, and unfortunately I have decided to stop working with them, because the equipment is not suitable for use, it is old and worn, it is impossible to do the work properly, as well as compared to other rental companies the prices are inflated, I do not recommend using this equipment
Service was okay - they responded every time I made a query and are generally helpful. HOWEVER their pricing is very misleading. I paid £80GBP for three day rental. I paid a £600(!) deposit and received less than half back after returning equipment. Reading the small print I was charged 7.50 per sanding belt and everything is subject to VAT. It’s all there on the small print but it feels misleading as this info is not made clear. The machines weren’t great either. Avoid!
Very misleading. I rented two sanders £38 for one day, £45 delivery/collection. Then they take £350 deposit and refunded me £136, so i was about £100 short of what i was expecting, then they tell you that it's £7.50 per sanding belt which isn't mentioned on the website or on the phone when you order. Go anywhere else as these guys are awful and these machines are readily available.
Worst experience we have had. I was very clear what I was doing and when booking I was advised to use a different machine with three pads and she then took a £730 deposit. Then when it was delivered, the guy dropping off the equipment told me the one I had been recommended wasn't suitable and that I needed another machine which he left for £249. I used the original machine which the driver had tested and didn't work and asked them to pick it up as we wouldn't be using it and got told it would be more expensive to collect it than it would to collect all machines the following week. Upon finishing the project the driver inspected and counted the pads and asked me to put a note on the form that the machine wasn't used which was obvious from the amount of unused pads. We also rang and spoke to the office twice to inform them that we hadn't used the tri sander. In short, bad advice, bad service and paid way over the odds! Our advice, use another company
I hired a sander package for a weekend back in February 2022. The package was delivered on Saturday around 10am. The belt sander, although it was quite old (20+ years) and looked fairly dilapidated (the crumbling rubber wheels made it quite difficult to move the sander back and forth), it was doing a fine job until about 4pm on Saturday afternoon when it stopped working. I thought it would be fine after a short break, but I tried several times to switch it on later without success. I only finished half of the floor in one room. I called the company, but it was already closed that day. I sent an email explaining the situation on the same day as well. When I filled out the form on the collection day on Monday morning I also put a note about the faulty sander in the hope that someone will get back to me to arrange for replacement on a different day.
I have called the company several times, since February, each time explaining the story from the very beginning, giving them my contact information again and again, with the promise that they are going to speak to the manager/ supervisor who will get in touch with me. I must say that the people on the phone have always been very polite, and it seems that at least they are trying to be helpful. But with no success thus far.
It's June 2022 now, and they still haven't resolved this issue. I am going to hire a sander from another company to finish the rest of the floor in that room. I still have other floors in the house that I want to sand, but obviously I am not going to use this company when I get around to sanding these in the future.
If you are a company that hires out old machines that are being used by a number of less or more experienced DIYers, it happens that the machines may break down and you will be required to provide replacement to your client at no additional cost. Floor Sander Hire does not seem to understand this simple rule.
I am very disappointed by their customer service and will hire elsewhere next time. I do not recommend using their services. Would give zero stars if I could.
Left a £350 deposit for the sanding equipment. Returned sander after one days hire so was due a £272 refund. They sent me an email to this affect and I assumed that I would automatically receive a refund onto my card in the same way as when you hire a car.
Over a week later I received a phone call saying they needed my card details to refund my £272 which I gave to them.The next day I called them as the money had still not been refunded. They said it could take three days for it to go into my bank account???
A week since this conversation and getting on for three weeks since the sander was returned my money has still not been refunded.
BEWARE of hidden weekend charges. What they don't tell you: 1. They only work until 12 on Saturdays. 2. They will charge you for Sunday as well. And if its a Bank Holiday Monday that is another day charged!!
I ordered my sander 3 days before I needed it to make sure it’s on site first thing in the morning (the depot is in Park Royal and the job is in Acton, less than 20min by car). They do not guarantee first thing but they did deliver it around 10:30am on a Friday. The Hire time starts from the time they deliver and they charge by the 24hrs. I called them on the Saturday morning to say please collect it around 12pm as we needed a little more time and that I was happy to pay for the extra hrs. The guy told me “We are closing early on Saturday, open until 12 and that means we have to have the item in the warehouse by 12".
As it was a bank Holiday weekend, they said they will collect it on Tuesday they will charge for another day (I assumed a total of 2 days).
When I got the receipt later the following week, I was charged for 3days. I called to complain and the same guy I spoke to on Saturday first said "no problem I will make the refund". Then he called back to say "no" because he told me that he will charge me for an extra day, I said yes, I agreed to 2 days when we spoke on the phone on Saturday (meaning Friday and Saturday) he said no I will charge you for Sunday too as that is our normal practice. I said you did not tell me that and you didn't say that you are only open till 12 on a Saturday when I ordered the tools days in advance. When we spoke on the Sat you only said you are closing early that day and you will collect on Tuesday because of the BH and that you will charge for one more day. Which was fair. During the call I explained to him that at weekends very few people can use these very loud and dusty machines (only if you have no clients staying at the job or neighbours who will not mind disturbing their peace) which was not my situation. And I have to find space to store the machines in the meantime!
The discussion was going nowhere and it was clear that he was not going to do the right thing no matter what I said. I told him that I will have to leave a negative review; to that he answered I am a customer too and I know how I will reply and deal with your negative review. He was trying to intimidate me in not leaving a bad review. Look out for the excuses!
So, you will be charged for days when they are closed and for Bank holidays (you have no option of collection or returning it back yourself when you are finished).
Terrible customer service and a very bad attitude. The machines are good though.
