After reading all the negative reviews…
After reading all the negative reviews about GGF I am now just realising that I too am being fobbed off and being messed about GGF who have lost all of my emails and information for a claim against Everglade windows, I don't want compensation or refund I just want Everglade Windows put right their mistakes
GGF Code of Practice and Membership Below Industry Standards.
We have had dreadful experience with a member GGF and would categorically state as an M&E engineer who worked in the field of Curtain Walling and Triple Element glazing systems thus qualified to state that GGF are not ensuring their members are properly qualified to manufacture or install conservatory glazing systems.
Item Defect
1. Conservatory defective/ill-fitted plastic window covings
2. Conservatory exit door glass exploded shattering glass.
3. Window glazing units exploding.
4. Bi-fold door far too heavy and dangerous to open and close crushing fingers.
5. Box gutter floods, overflows and runs down glazing.
6. Roof glazing leaking over the entire length.
Not trained investigators
Other reviews are correct. GGF aren’t trained investigators so take everything the contractor says on face value, even if you can evidence to the contrary. For example Safestyle told the GGF they had offered me £250 compensation for the issues I had raised with the GGF. That was untrue as it was for ‘poor service’ prior to installation.
I believe they should only be used to exhaust the process (which took seven months for me). Please don’t forget who pays for the GGF!
Complete waste of time & energy
I have to agree with the previous posts on here. It is now over two months since I first raised a complaint with them and, despite repeated emails, I have not received any response other than "we hope to respond to you soon". I am now going to the CAB.
Replacement of bi-fold doors
Have been dealing with a GGF member for over 6 months for an ongoing issue with my bi-fold doors. Several of their engineers tried to repair and were unsuccessful so only option left was to replace the doors which senior management were not willing to do and practically started ignoring me despite still within my warranty.
Came across GGF after contacting FENSA and Ms Akinsiku dealt with my complaint from the start in a professional manner and guided me through the process. Have been very happy with the support she gave and ultimately helped me get the resolution I wanted.
If you meet the guidelines from GGF then you will have a chance to use them for conciliation. Yes you need to have patience as it can be a time consuming process but can definitely help achieve the outcome you want.
GGF useless and one sided
We ordered our windows on 4 February 2020 and we needed planning permission but our suppliers Anglian dragged their feet all the way through and after 12 months cancelled our order claiming that they could not manufacture the windows to the specification that the Council wanted. I solved the problem and eventually the plans were approved on 16 June 2021. GGF were involved from 08 December 2020 and they have sided with Anglian our windows supplier all the way through and have not helped at all. We wanted to make a complaint against the case handler but they will not give us the procedure to do this. I only placed the order with Anglian because I was informed GGF were very good
Ms Akinsiku was very professional and…
Ms Akinsiku was very professional and got my matter resolved. Thank you so much!
GGF - a truly shocking experience
Took my complaint about Grabex to GGF who were a complete waste of time and completely ignored our indisputable evidence and facts. We could not believe how they ruled against our evidence?
How can they be an alternate dispute resolution organisation if they are funded by the very people we are fighting against? They are clearly not independent and have a conflict of interest. Communication was nothing short of shocking. If you have issues about a glazing company and they are a member of the GGF, you're better off ignoring them and going to a generic ADR instead.
They took twice as long as their stated allocated time to respond. It felt to us like Grabex and the GGF were just trying to wear us down in the hope that we just give up. Anyway, we eventually took Grabex to court, where funnily enough, the judge had a very different view of our evidence to the GGF?
GGF Conciliation Scheme is Pointless.
I was referred to the GGF by a member company that I had an unresolved complaint with so I wrote to them asking for help under their Conciliation Scheme. All I got back was a Conciliation Request Form, to copy / paste the information I'd already provided into, and a request for my contract & warranty. When I re-explained that my complaint related to an Out Of Warranty service repair, therefore there was no contract for such, I got the same repeated bureaucratic response from a jobsworth. They also made clear that they are unable to assist with a refund or compensation which means they're effectively toothless, so why bother? The GGF claims to protect homeowners but is basically a members club that protects it's own and is just there to give the appearance of fair play.
Absolute waste of time! No point to this service. Really don’t bother
All the GGF did was act as a go-between simply forwarding my mails word-for-word onto the company I was complaining about. The case worker “supporting” me couldn’t even manage to spell my name correctly. Disgusting. After reaching no resolution, the GGF suggested I used another service to raise my complaint with instead. I am puzzled as to why they actually exist. Could not be more useless, have just wasted my time and wound me up. AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Try Citizens Advice Bureau or Glazing Arbitration Scheme instead.
A total waste of time
A total waste of time. They do nothing and are clearly there to benefit their members, not the public. Regardless of how bad the window fitter's work has been, they will not take action. Best to avoid this shambles and to take the offending company to the small claims court through the CAB. The double glazing business is in its worst state ever and is unregulated to all intents and purposes...
Don’t bother - wast of time
Your member crystal windows crystalwindows
Works with not qualified inspectors and their reports say condensation without doing any test and proper check on the doors . 1 year of problems and finally crystal windows came back did finally a water test and in report confirms that the doors leak water in. But they refuse the change the doors.
I sent you all documents and information but you replied to me saying that it’s condensation issue and you don’t deal with it.
Can I ask why you ignore that fact that one and latest report says they leak water?
Why you ignore that fact that they changed the handle one time and it didn’t solve anything?
This company told me they are manufacturer but then it turned out that they are not?
Isn’t it my right as consumer to ask for a not faulty product?
Don’t bother....
Don’t bother. Even direct emails to the CEO and Commercial Director are ignored. Not even a courtesy email to say received. Conciliation Officer was worse than useless. No answers to questions and delays so long they hope you’ll give up. Appalling service and months of my life I won’t get back again.
The GGF are a complete waste of time
The GGF are a complete waste of time.
They're only interested in their members and do not acknowledge or even consider complaints from the public, even if the complaints are documented with evidence proving their member have not followed GGF guidelines.
GGF needs an independent review of their practices because they are currently not fit for purpose.
We had windows fitted by a GGF member and they failed to survey and install as per the guidelines. We provided documented evidence referencing non-conformances to the guidelines and they completely ignored our report and complaint.
Do not rely on GGF for consumer protection
Despite a 15 page RICS Surveyors report of faults with a conservatory build, GGF refused to even communicate with us on the matter. Unfortunately after the report was carried out we then noticed damp patches to existing house walls where building had been joined, on demolition it was clear the roof had been leaking in between wall cavity of conservatory. GGF did nothing to assist us and just backed the trader who pays for their services. This amounts to no consumer protection.
Fabulous organisation
Fabulous organisation. We found them to be extremely helpful.
Absolute joke!
I only wish I could give no stars!
This joke of a federation is no better than the rouge companies they are “Suposed” to protect consumers from, totally useless!!
Even the simplest of questions is answered with another question or useless information. I am convinced they are in business to make it as difficult as possible for consumers to complain?
Someone needs to look into the GGF and how it’s run, it’s an absolute joke.
Toothless and hostile to the consumer
I have invariably found the Glass and Glazing Federation to be an unhelpful and toothless organisation, unsupportive to the consumer. I was not referred to the GGF by Anglian Home Improvements. Instead, Anglian circumvented mediation by ignoring my correspondence and swiftly issuing proceedings against me, precluding me from going to the Ombudsman. The GGF could not have cared less about this practice on the part of Anglian - its receptionist wouldn't even spell the CEO's surname for me, let alone provide his email address. Judging by its unfriendly attitude, I would not expect an unbiased appraisal of Anglian Home Improvements' conduct and service, even had I not been prevented by Anglian from accessing the GGF conciliation scheme.
