GO Outdoors - Erdington Avis 

Andrew gave me fantastic service and really great advice he was very patient and helped kit me out for my walking holiday.

Just wanted to say thank you for the excellent customer service that my husband and I received today whilst shopping at Erdington GoOutdoors. Staff were courteous and knowledgeable and gave helpful advice throughout. We were served by Emma and Sophie at the till and special thanks to the lovely lady who was the Duty Manager of the store who was with us throughout. Excellent experience.

The Gentleman on the footwear dept was a great help and committed to customer service. A pair of ‘Merrell’ walking shoes were purchased costing £150.00 also a backpack totalling £160.00 with use of our ‘go outdoors’ discount card… we proceeded to the checkout only to be greeted/ or not by a gloomy non verbal female assistant. There was no please or thank you, only grunts. She had to be reminded to take the alarm off the footwear and after doing so made no effort to place footwear back tidily into box leaving tissue paper messy. I purposely lingered after payment to put the shoes away tidily myself. We left the store both saying the same thing. That assistant had let down the pleasurable experience we felt earlier. I should definitely have a word with her on her manners. Other customers would be saying the same thing! On receipt it read. : Assistant: 027. Clerk: 006

Good selection of products at a good price however the customer service leaves much to be desired.

I had to roam around the store to find someone to bring out some boots and after asking questions about the product, I got the answer “I don’t know. It has been ages since I’ve been down there”. This gentleman then vanished after brining out my size so I ended up having to serve myself basically.

Worst yet was the lack of manners or interaction from the lady at the till who barely acknowledged me. Other than asking for my Membership card. I understand that customer service is often a tankless task but this is beyond the pale. I will no longer be shopping at this branch.

The team was very helpful, Bradley in particular did such a great job patiently showing me around and guiding me through the different options around my budget range.

Fantastic service from Emma at the Erdington, Birmingham branch. She was extremely helpful, friendly and professional throughout and made everything really easy for me. Nothing was too much trouble, and she took the time to make sure I was completely sorted.

Desperately needed a waterproof jacket for a trip, didn’t know much about what I was looking for and Shauni was great at looking after me and helping me out with my questions!

I went in not sure on what I was looking for, when I approached Olliver, he was very friendly and helpful and helped me find the right boots. The shops a good size with decent selection. Would recommend.

We were served by Olliver and he had great support for us maximing our shopping experience. He was really friendly and keen to help and made our experience very amazing in the shop.

Well, from a very disgruntled customer that was never going to use Go Outdoors again, due to Joe the store manager at the Tamworth stores bad attitude and vile language to a customer due to his own inability to find the transaction on their own system, so how he trains the staff at that store is incomprehensible, the 1 star review represents him and the Tamworth store, I put that low star in the hope head office picks this up and contacts me as their customer service line is about as precise and as efficient as Joe himself, where as Sophie at the Erdington store succeeded in doing what the so called manager failed to do at the Tamworth store, by locating my purchase on the system, assisting me in my options in store, looking for local stores with stock, Go Outdoors if I was the area manager I would promote Sophie forthwith to manager and put her in charge of Tamworth, from a customer that was never going to use your stores again, to Sophie selling me two extra items from your Erdington store, Sophie I rate at a 5,

Popped in to buy two rucksacks today. I knew what I wanted. Sophie and Shauni were very helpful and patient as I went through the price matching that I had found.

Emma on the shop floor was very helpful and informative when we visited today to buy a tent. Shauni was a real joy on the till and the lad(didn't get his name) who carried our tent to the car was also lovely. Get experience, thank you all.

I came into the store at Erdington to purchase a pair of boots. As I was paying for my boots I was met by a warm and friendly staff member called Shauni. She smiled when she greeted me and helped me renew my membership so as to get a members discount on the items I had purchased. She was warm and engaging in her conversation and friendly throughout the whole time I was with her, even sharing a joke about having an Irish name.
It's very refreshing to come into a store anywhere these days and to engage with staff who are like Shauni. Most stores I have been into, certainly within the last 5 years, have made me feel like I'm an inconvenience when I come in to buy items. I wish all the stores I went into had a Shauni.

First time prepping for a hiking trip and Emma at the Erdington store made it an amazing experience! She was super knowledgeable, patient, and went above and beyond to guide me through everything I needed as a beginner. Top-class customer service—Emma is an absolute star!

Very disappointing return experience

I paid for a membership and bought a tent from GO Outdoors because it was advertised as darkened. However, when I actually set it up, it was very clear that it is nowhere near darkened — a lot of light comes through.

I wanted to return it, but I was told that because I had used the tent, they could not accept the return. But honestly, how am I supposed to find out whether a tent is actually darkened without taking it outside and setting it up? I obviously couldn’t determine this properly just by looking at it in the packaging.

What was even more disappointing was being made to feel as though I had taken the tent on holiday, used it for a trip and then simply decided to return it. That is not what happened.

I genuinely wish I had bought it from Amazon instead. I would have been able to return it without being made to feel like I had done something wrong, and it would have been collected from my door rather than me having to spend hours travelling to a store just to try to return a product that was not as advertised.

Very disappointing customer service and a very frustrating experience, especially after paying for a membership.
