I visited York (express store) on…
I visited York (express store) on Saturday 2May 2026. Was served by Ben Lambert he got me exactly what I wanted in a pair of walking shoes I’m 73 and I sometimes struggle with bending to tie the laces nothing too much trouble for Ben he tied them for me so I could see if they fit ok.
I much prefer to go to this store rather the one at Van Guard Monks Cross as I know I am going to get a great service.
Thankyou again Ben and he had remembered I hadn’t been in the store for a while it’s nice to be remembered.

Sleeping bag advice
I went in to get some further advice on sleeping bags and the store staff was absolutely fantastic! Clear, professional, and helpful with assisting my decisions on getting the right sleeping bags for my upcoming adventures.

Stuw was brilliant
Stuw was brilliant. I needed walking sandals or shoes. He guided me through the range, helped me choose, try on etc. Got the discount code and explained returns policy etc.

Good quality and service
I went in to look for a fleece waterproof trousers and shoe clips for a trip to Finland in the autumn
As it’s spring now not all these items were available but the member of staff who helped me went into the store room and located everything I needed All good quality and with the membership card i saved over £30

Superb customer service
We were looking for a really good pair of walking boots for Gold DofE. Emily couldn’t have been more helpful, bringing several types to try. To be truthful, because her service was so good, I was happy to buy the boots in store, even though I could have got them cheaper elsewhere.

Outstanding professional guidance and service
The small mighty shop with a wonderful big heart. I went in needing some replacement boots for my other hiking boots that I use for work and it had to have specific abilities to make the day's use comfortable and durable and Stuart and his fantastic colleague have given very powerful advice on making sure I chose the right product for my needs. Stuart and his team were also happy and positive which is so important in today's sad times. I look forward to doing further business with this store and team in the future.
