Overpriced and unexciting prawn salad…

My mother of 97 and I had their prawn salad yesterday , costing £12.99 each. It consisted of 3 cherry tomatoes each cut in half, some very chunky pieces of cucumber, skin on, approx 6 pieces and loads of very tough lettuce leaves that my mother could not cut let alone chew! Over this was a pile of the cheapest small frozen prawns you can buy with no seasoning supposedly in a Rose Marie Sauce. The sauce was so thin and watery it had soaked down to under the salad leaves. Then it was prettied up with a shake of paprika over the top. All utterly tasteless, unexciting and not at all appetizing. No shredded carrot, no potato salad, no beetroot,no coleslaw, not even a salad dressing apart from the watery sauce. Well overpriced and very disappointing. My Mum had to leave most of the salad leaves, which consisted of a high proportion of what was on the plate.....awful!!

Gone down the pan, sadly

This is a review for Griggs restaurant, Sticker, Cornwall UK

Griggs restaurant has been excellent over the 5 years we have been visiting and nothing has ever been an issue. Food is always good quality, always piping hot and friendly service. We have always been able to have a slight adjustment to breakfast items however this has now changed.
Something detrimental has changed and sadly not for the better.
We came in 4 of us for what was expected to be a nice breakfast in vibrant but relaxed surroundings on Sun 25 August. The menu seems to have changed, staff at the ordering point are nowhere near as helpful as they were (quite arrogant to be fair) and the serving staff are what can only be described as summer students who have little idea.
I fail to understand how hard it is to change poached egg on toast to scrambled egg on toast. It is a note on the EPOS system to the kitchen saying take one off, add one on. I actually wanted mushrooms and was told I could only have them with the larger breakfast as "We don't do mushrooms".
The food was bought to the table, one breakfast had requested well done eggs. They came runny and being fair was replaced. A bacon and sausage roll was luke warm, stodgy bread roll and not really enjoyable. The bacon and sausage has clearly been microwaved to warm up but not hot.
Add to this we all finished at different times and the serving staff came and removed finished plates while 2 of us were still eating which is a hospitality bad manners of the highest degree. No apology just did it!!! How wrong is that??
So overall our experience was not good and I feel that management need to listen to the customers who pay their wages.....
1. Allow a small change on the EPOS system - it is a simple typed note in the add note section. If the staff are unable to do this, don't want to, can't or not allowed to do this then management really need to have a look at themselves. We do not all like the same things and small variations should be permitted.
2. Train the summer staff to wait until EVERYONE has finished eating AND drinking before clearing the table. If we wish to sit and digest the meal after we have finished that is fine (and quite normal) however the staff should simply say "Do you mind if I clear your table to give you more room" - sadly this was very lacking. The staff seemed to have no clue as to their errors.
3. If these serving staff are permanent please train them in basics so as it sticks with them.
4. Allow small item changes - removal or addition to the order - this is not hard to do and helps keep the customer base. Management please take note that one size does NOT fit all.
The menu has changed probably to hike the prices so would be good it can be reverted to how it used to be. I feel some itemas are missing from it but have nothing to compare it to.
Overall what was excellent is now reasonable bordering on below average at best. One simple rule is if it isn't broken then don't try and fix it. Train all staff with manners given they are customer facing and instill basic etiquette about clearing tables. Yes they will be there for the summer to get a few £££'s but please make the experience better for the paying customer or like us people won't be returning.
Customer feedback is important so as we all get the best experience when we do something. Perhaps Griggs restaurant manager needs to take note.

UPDATE 06 SEPT 2024
As no response from Griggs, I have dropped this review to 1 star. Sadly TP do not allow no stars else that is what you would get.
If this review has hit a nerve and you have no way to respond then perhaps the truth really hurts??
