The only positive thing is how friendly and helpful the staff are. Management and strategy of this gym is appalling. Everybody pays a different (albeit extortionate) fee and the facilities are simply not worth the price. I tried their classes and found them underwhelming. You should have a separate membership that excludes the classes. Showers are often out of conditioner. Sauna is nice but floor gets so hot it burns your feet. Regular water leaks in the lifting area. Blinding lights at eye level that make the lifting area very dangerous (we try to cover them with towels). Music is so loud you can’t hear the coaching. Very poor gym experience. I found a much better one for half the price. Very gimmicky and disingenuous gym, just looking to get you to sign up long term with 0 regard for the customer really.

Too congested everyday, not so clean

Too busy. Always on "wait lists" for classes you may not get into to. My 12 month contract had ended, Gymbox still continued to take money out of my account and said I needed to give them a month's notice to cancel.

The most spacious, clean, user friendly gym I've ever been to. Staff are so friendly at the counter, something I'm not used to! I've tested out Bank, Victoria, Stratford and Farringdon and each one is as good as each other. I love the combat areas, something that is rare in most gyms. It gives me the space I need to practise my martial arts. Unless it's during very busy hours, I rarely have to wait for a machine.
The locker rooms, showers and sauna are always kept clean. Even other gym members are friendly, everyone is open for a chat. I rarely bring my headphones because the music is always great, some nights they have a designated DJ to bring the vibes.

I love GymBox, I've finally found a gym that I can practise weights, calisthenics and martial arts all in one place.

I visited this gym as it’s opposite my office. I explained I was looking for a gym that offers reformer Pilates and appreciate it’s not going to be easy. I was told that reformer Pilates was starting in August. I was then rushed to sign up with the sales person ringing and texting me constantly. I think from there I should have known it was a red flag. I then wanted to cancel my gym membership as I fell pregnant and I’m currently under high risk. I was challenged and ask to provide evidence. Never in my life have I ever been asked to provide evidence not even to my work place. Oh and I was told that there is a dj Monday to Friday between 5pm to 8pm at Victoria london. I can confirm this was also a lie.
Just avoid at all cost as their customer service is awful. They lie to get you through the door. Just awful.

Gymbox is great but I have guest passes that I simply cant use. Its such a complicated process. Pls fix this. Also would be great if there is more communal area / cofee / drinks etc

Relatively pricing gym and over crowded to an extent that its impossible to train. Had to cancel as it was even hard to move around in the gym felt like walking on Oxford St.
Management is awful and short-sighted - you can see that base on their silly terms and conditions just to charge members.

Gym is ok, but if you're into classes, you have to know that it's a mission to book a session. Better be quick and book it 3 days before at 10am straight. I'm dissapointed.

Recently joined the GYMBOX in Stratford. It’s fast becoming my second home. Great classes and gym, reception staff are lovely… would like to see more morning yoga classes

I regret my decision to join GYMBOX. If you’re considering membership, be warned: unless you want to deal with debt collectors chasing you for hundreds of pounds above the amount you have to pay initially after canceling, look elsewhere. I would advise nobody to join this gym.

The staff has been uncommunicative and rude when I tried to raise my concerns. I submitted three complaints explaining why I needed to cancel—due to relocating and the gym being so overcrowded that I could never access equipment—but I was completely ignored.

I made several attempts to call and email, only to encounter a frustrating “computer says no” mentality. It’s clear that once they have your money, they don’t care about your situation.

While the facilities are nice, the lack of customer support when dealing with membership issues is incredibly disappointing. I expected better from a gym of this caliber. Save yourself the hassle and choose a different gym!

Without a doubt the worst gym in London. Never any equipment available to use. Rude staff, can't get into any classes. Don't waste your money

Absolutely terrible experience with Gymbox. Stay away. I was forced, threatened and constantly persecuted via email, phone and messages by the reception team to pay for an entire month in which I didn’t use the gym for a single day. I contacted them and explained the awful life situation I was going through and how I was forced to move out from my place. They refused to negotiate or show any care for loyal customers like me, who was there every day. It’s like they are just happy to steal money. This is NOT how you build a community or take care of people who’ve supported your business. I used to recommend Gymbox to everyone, but after this, I don’t. Their customer care team and reception team are trained to be cold and pushy. A complete disappointment! I will never come back

Questionable billing practices
I attempted to cancel my membership on May 27, 2024, following staff instructions. However, this led to a series of issues including unexpected charges, involvement of a debt collection agency, and difficulties in accessing crucial information due to website errors.
The cancellation process revealed several problems:

-Website errors prevented access to terms and conditions
- Conflicting information about post-cancellation membership status
- Unexplained price increase from £79 to £83
- Incorrect personal information on file
- Faulty online payment system

Dealing with both Gymbox and their debt collection agency felt like 'talking to a brick wall.' Neither seemed interested in addressing customer concerns or providing clear explanations.

Regarding facilities, most Gymbox locations I visited (excluding Victoria) were overcrowded, unclean, and showing signs of deterioration. This decline in quality, combined with the difficult cancellation process, significantly impacted my overall experience.
I ultimately paid the full amount demanded to end the ordeal, but I'm left with a very negative impression. While no commercial gym is perfect, Gymbox's apparent lack of consumer-first approach is disappointing.

Potential members should carefully consider these factors and thoroughly review all terms before committing.
If you do join, keep detailed records of all interactions, especially regarding cancellation.

Great gym with solid facilities, well-structured classes, and the occasional DJ which adds a fun vibe. The place is relatively clean, and they even offer shampoo and conditioner.

However, I signed up for a 6-month contract, and during that time they assured me I could freeze my membership if needed. What they failed to mention is that you can only freeze it by full months—not just for a couple of weeks.

I informed them well in advance that I was relocating to another country and wanted to cancel my contract. Despite this, they insisted I had to keep paying for an entire extra month, which I understand—contracts are contracts. But what really got me was that they wouldn’t let me freeze that last month, even though I hadn’t used the freezing option at all.

It feels like they prioritise squeezing every last penny from customers over providing any real flexibility or understanding. For that reason, I can’t recommend signing up here. They clearly care more about money than customer experience.

The gym is great, the team is great, the music playlist is even better!
