The worst company for getting out loans. They dont help at all even when you pay them for example if you are due to pay at end of the month and you pay on the 1st. They will still go ahead and register you as missed payment on credit file even though you have paid. This is ridiculous and dont help out all they do is spoil credit files

I have requested to pay my loan off early with Hastings. I have been an excellent customer always paying on time and never missing a payment, When I spoke to customer services because of the high amount to pay off the loan (an extra £120) I was told this was because of the amount they would be loosing in interest by me paying off early and all the money I would be saving!!! Then when I complained they said they had the figures wrong and apologised and it was over £130 on top of what I owed!!
I have never known a company to charge extra because of what they would loose out on. They have send me £30 for my trouble. Only another £100 to pay then?

Took over 5 phone calls to pay the loan off I Waited over 40 mins on the last one to try and pay my loan off early also couldn’t log in online just kept coming up with my old loan which is closed so couldn’t pay it online … probably the worst customer service I’ve experienced wouldn’t use again

Waste of time! Applied on Monday as was pre approved and then got rejected on Friday after taking all my personal information. No reason was mentioned for rejection. Applied through Tesco the same same day and got funds straight in the bank account within 2 hours and even with better lower rate!

Paid all my loan payments at least a week before every single direct debit. This week, the direct debit obviously hadn't updated and took the payment as well as my online payment.
Called customer service to request one of the payments back as £820 is a lot of money. They first tried to say i wasn't up to date with payments so this was going towards my missed payment, I then went through every transaction and they then agreed that the payment wasn't applied to my account properly. Although before it is given back to me i have to wait for a call from the finance team, for what i dont know.

I will happily remove/edit this review if I get a satisfactory response soon from the finance team.
£820 at Christmas is not good.

Yeah, word of warning (something I wish I knew), takes up to 5 days to pay out. Never heard of such a long winded process - I was approved and signed all paperwork 2 days ago and funds won’t hit my account for another 2. Rubbish, all other companies pay out a lot quicker so if you need quick access to funds I wouldn’t bother.

Applied for a loan with them, all went fast and money received. Shortly after, I suffered an accident and was off sick for long term. Spoke with customer service which offered a payment holiday which I was grateful for. The worst decision as, next month, the report was already on my credit file, and next month as well which I didn't expected given that it was an agreement due to difficult circumstances. Anyway, as soon as I recovered financially, I settled the loan. Well..... this time they are not so quick to report the payment on my credit file and it still appears that I own them money. As per them will take several weeks for that to be updated but..... how in the world, as soon as I missed a payment, it was straight away ??? And why it's no report for 7th of June 2025 when I already paid half of the loan given that you report it monthly??
Now, and because of them, my credit score is under the floor ....

HastingDirect gave me a loan what I needed without hesitation. I’d been pre-approved, accepted the details, next day I signed the contract online, and 3 days after the application the money landed on my account. 15K personal loan. No phone calls, or silly questions about my life like how much I spend, and where to spend. Quick and clear process. Thanks for the help, and I have a car. I HAVE a car. Not the bank, not a lender, I own the car. So thanks. Really. :)

Hastings direct loan customer service staff are not straightforward at all, they are quite quick to destroy customers credit report so consumers can be more vulnerable to their service.
I was out of job and notified Hastings of my situation, requested for assistance, they offered me a payment holiday (as with bank another loan that I have elsewhere), meanwhile I offered Hastings £5 monthly which was accepted.
But Hastings went and reported a missed payment on my credit file, costing me 148 points off my experian record.⁸

Wish I could leave a zero. In January I was looking for a loan to pay a balloon payment on a car. Hastings were cheapest and it was shown as pre-approved. Put the application in then was told they had to do further checks. Fast forward a week, still no loan, payment was due so I called my bank and had the money in my account in 15 mins. Now same thing has happened with a friend of mine, due to collect a car today,still no loan, had to go elsewhere. Again this loan was pre-approved. Don't waste your time with them.
