On 10/08/2026, I booked and paid for an SUV-category vehicle. However, at the time of pick-up, the service agent assigned me a vehicle from a lower category (a downgrade) while still charging the full rate for the SUV I had originally booked.
The agent verbally assured me that the vehicle would be swapped for one in the contracted category the following day.
Despite my repeated attempts to contact the branch by phone to finalize the agreed-upon exchange, I have received no response whatsoever.

The agent verbally assured me that the vehicle would be swapped for one in the contracted category the following day. Despite my repeated attempts to contact the branch by phone to finalize the agreed-upon exchange, I have received no response whatsoever.

The rental car was not clean
The rental car was not clean. There was visible dirt on the car and on the driver side rug. The cup holders/console were also not clean. However, the staff were friendly and professional which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2.

Great Customer Service!
Excellent rental experience with Hertz! From the moment I picked up my reserve vehicle, the staff was friendly, attentive, and professional. Even when I returned the car earlier than planned, the same outstanding customer service continued. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and stress-free. I truly appreciate the excellent service and would gladly rent from Hertz again!

The cars are always dirty and low on gas at this location (Rockville…
The cars at this location (Rockville MD) are always dirty and gas is never full. This time, car reeked of body odor and there was grime all over the windows and inside dash. We asked the rep if the car was cleaned before getting in to it and he said yes and that he had cleaned it himself, it was once again gross.
