Hertz - Sacramento - 16th Street Avis 

The customer service at the Sacramento 16th Street location is 'Outstanding' AJ is always very kind, courteous and respectful. I am always greeted with a smile and a heartwarming 'Hello' followed by ..."How may I help you" It is always a great renting experience at this Hertz 16th Street Location.

As always, easy process, car as selected, easy drop off, very friendly and helpful staff.

Easy check out and return. Staff very helpful and saved the day when I left an item in the car and they helpfully found it in and got it back to me.

On arrival I was forced to pay for a higher class of car because my car was not available. The man at the counter was rude, and acted like the car being unavailable was my fault and that my expectations were unrealistic for booking a car the same day. When I told him that most places don't make you pay for the higher class of car if your reserved class is unavailable, he informed me that "Hertz does it differently". Turns out the upcharge was also against Hertz policy, but he refused to rent me a car at my reserved rate and told me I could either pay for the upgrade or leave. (This is an illegal bait and switch tactic). When I thought I needed to add an additional day on to my rental I was gouged a second time with a higher day rate and additional fees and penalties. Even when I rescinded this extra day less than an hour later, I was still charged additional penalties despite returning the car at the originally scheduled time. I booked my reservation at $71 for two days, and was actually charged $125. Horrible customer service, consumer unfriendly policies, and shady and straight up illegal business practices. I will never use Hertz again and will recommend the same to everyone I know.

Just go to Enterprise. They are better in literally every way.

I don't use credit cards so I needed to use a debit card... I did extensive research before booking the minivan that i needed. Once i got to counter after paying a 50 dollar uber ride the guy coldly stated, no credit card, no minivan and tried to say that a minivan is considered a luxury vehicle and those you cant rent without a credit card. I dont know a single person who considers a minivan a luxury lol. Anyways, he told me that i could pick from two small dinky suvs( theres a reason why I needed a van, i have 3 kids under the age 5 and they need car seats) something a dinky suv doesnt accommodate..needles to say it put me in a huge on the spot bind because I needed a car to get around as much as I needed my kids to be safe.

The car I chose, luckily, was able to accommodate two out of the three car seats, leaving my five year old who wasn't ready to be in a booster, forced to be in a booster seat due to space.

He pulled up the car and the car was filthy inside and out with major scratches All over it.. Pieces of the trunks trim, snapped off and put back together Held by a really bad, super glue job.

I was pissed, next day driving my one year old home from a doctor's appointment, the car begin to ding and what feels like screaming over that fact they not only gave me a filthy scratched up car, but a car that also needed maintenance done.

Called hertz corporate number for now the 2nd time, only to be told that the cars information is wrong and that I have two thousand miles. And if I am gonna go over the two thousand miles and I need to bring in their car back and get into a different car or be willing to take time out of my day to take their car to get maintenance done. I was supposed to have this rental car for 3 weeks.

This was a horrible experience. And this was partially why, in the past. I've been willing to pay more to enterprise, then to deal with the ghettoness and inconsideration that you get with hertz.

I had a vehicle break in while renting and they got me back on the road fast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Convenient rental location, helpful and polite staff and good car.

They provided a vehicle that fit what we needed.

Reserve in advance- call before you arrive. This location is very busy and will run out of vehicles even if there are reservations in the system.

The staff here are helpful and the check in/checkout went smoothly with no complications.
