We looked at many different campers from the Midlands and northern companies but those at Highlife stood out with quality, attention to detail and use of the most modern components. As an example most of their vans have inductive hobs, no gas required.
We settled on a grey T7 with barn doors. Sam picked us up from the railway station when we went to collect it and as soon as we saw the finished article it was “wow”.

Inside and out it is a stunning vehicle with a finish that exudes quality. I’ve never had a vehicle where as many people have stopped to comment and ask me about it.
A month into ownership and it still gives us that buzz.
To top things off I’ve had a couple of minor things I’ve needed to re contact Highlife about. Jodean has been really quick in responding with solutions .

So overall they have my strong recommendation . Very competitive pricing, high quality, innovative and backed up with good after sales.

The support I received from Sam and the Highlife team was outstanding.
From initially talking through my options in a no pressure approach to sourcing the base van and completing an outstanding conversion to my specification and design.
Sam’s customer service is amazing at all levels from sharing his useful you tube videos to final handover.

We decided that we were going to look to buy a.Camper van, when we were returning home from holiday. At the end of the summer, My wife and I started to research what we would like and highlife campers was mentioned by a friend.
We downloaded the free guide and watched quite a few of the videos on YouTube, which were very informative and certainly assisted us in what spec van we wanted to buy. So, back in September a van became available which had been bought by Highlife campers for conversion. I called Sam and went to see the van the next day. It was perfect, a low mileage T6.1 in Ascot grey, on a 72 plate.
We discussed the options and decided this was the van for us. Highlife campers were fantastic throughout the conversion process and kept us up to date and answered queries quickly and without any delay. We weren’t in any rush so agreed on a conversion for October time. Fast forward to the end of October
we received the email to let us know our van was ready for collection. My wife and I picked the van up on Thursday and all I could say was wow! The van finish is beyond what we expected and was worth the wait. Highlife campers and Sam offer a high quality service which is superior to others out there. The quality of the materials is excellent and the van drives like new with a two year VW warranty and a conversion warranty.
We are over the moon and can’t speak highly enough of Sam and staff.

After months of research we asked Sam to source and convert a van for us. The months of research included asking him questions which he was great at answering, despite the fact he didn’t have an order from us. Once we had ordered he answered all our questions and kept us informed all the way along. When we picked it up we were delighted. The top quality service didn’t end there - when I had a couple of questions on our first camp Sam answered them quickly. When we had a small problem with the gas hob he organised for it to be fixed that day. We are so happy at the personal service

Since childhood holidays in the seventies in camper vans I have always wanted my own van. Having looked for a couple of years on every and all platforms I fortunately chanced on Highlife Campers website and one van in particular that ticked all the boxes I’d set (SWB, manual, low mileage, service history , barn doors, pop top, light interior, double swivel passenger seat, DAB, Bluetooth and blue van) and a few extra I didn’t know I wanted (colour match roof, alloys, van shades).
Although the van spec was not tailored for me, I had a very good feeling after watching the walk round video. Highlife Campers owner Sam’s enthusiastic while pragmatic presentation of this stunning T6 van with a top quality camper conversion I found immensely reassuring, no car dealer sycophancy just friendly plain speak. Although this van was over my budget it was also beyond my expectations, I drove from Scotland to Huddersfield to test drive the van and convince my wife, job done on both counts and my mind was made up, this would be my van!
Sam & Sarah of Highlife were patient and friendly throughout the whole process ( I’m not a petrol head so no expert in matters of the car) all my questions were answered fully and willingly. Emails and calls were always answered and responded to and all background and supporting paperwork provided as well as advice about insurance and security.
I found Sam Hutchinson to be a friendly and straight forward person to deal with, no airs and graces, no waffle or front, no wheeler car dealer schtick. I would be happy to recommend Highlife Campers to prospective T6 buyers and would suggest that you can expect to experience a similar level of professional and helpful service as I enjoyed and end up with a van that meets all your expectations as mine does.

I have had my Fontana Red VW T6.1 Transporter converted by Highlife Campers and what a quality product they have delivered - an outstanding campervan.
I initially viewed Sam’s YouTube channel where I saw the work completed and the enthusiasm to the quality they aim to produce. I was pleased to see they were based in Yorkshire and reasonably local to me, although I saw customers had travelled long distances to use Highlife Campers.
I contacted Sam and had a positive dialogue on the phone and arranged a visit to their unit at Barnsley. There was a van that was converted which Sam had sourced, but it had been reserved., but a useful visit and pleased with what I saw. I decided at that point I would like to use Highlife Campers.
I was fortunate to find my own base vehicle within a couple of days of the visit from VW York, whilst I had seen Sam can help source vehicles too.
What I liked was that it was clearly a quality product being delivered. Maybe not the cheapest out there, but I believe you get what you pay for. Sam was straightforward, wasn’t pushy and clearly wants the customer to make their own choices/decisions, but happy to give a view and provide suggestions. The conversion pack provided is excellent with 3 different packages available. There is plenty of choice of colours… The basic structure of the furniture was set, but I felt this was right and the reason for getting a high standard base product. I went for the Platinum package with a few additions which where readily accommodated, including changing the front splitter, drivers swivel chair, reversing camera, colour coding the tailgate handle. Sam also agreed to look at making the rear cupboard door under the bed bigger for greater access. Each time a revised invoice was produced.
We used WhatsApp to communicate which is a great medium. It was easy and straight forward dialogue with opportunity to provide examples of samples but also what I wanted.
It took c3/4 weeks for the conversion to be completed but what a great job! The end product is top end and I would highly recommend anyone to use Highlife Campers.

The worst experience I had had. I was happy tp pay cash for a relatively top end conversion but right from the off was finding Same attitude difficult. He seemed to think I was out of order negotiating on the price ?? well when you are paying 53K cash I would think this would be acceptable. Having got past the first hurdle all I had to do was chose colours (or so I thought) what I didn't raise at the time was the images I had used to select the van actually included things that were apparently costly options ie the roof. This led to more discussions as Same first remark was "as usual by now" how much extra that was going to cost !!! well after some discussions we sort this out (I think you will notice it is now mentioned on the web site that the pics are for illustration only) !!! We struggled on and eventually the van id finished (well almost as I notice on the pic there is no splitter) this also got finally fixed and for some reason Sam was coming down to London to visit someone and was going to deliver the van on route . this was OK but I would have rather have collected it as this would have given me the opportunity to have look before final payment !! but hey ho I didn't mind. It is also worth mentioning that we had discussions as I originally wanted a 150hp engine, no problem sam said, we will remap the engine and it will be 130 bhp, well the also didn't happen as it is not possible to remake the E6 engines !!! so when he was on his way over to drop the van off he had sent me a revised invoice changing to accommodate the fact that I no longer have a 130hp engine. as the item was originally discounted on our deal the fact that it could never have been I expected the discount (only £185) to come of the bottom line however when I braced the subject I had to endure another torrent of abuse even though actually I wasn't really bothered about the money just wanted to discuss !!! after this Sm refused to deliver the van and drove home saying he is not going to sell me the van. So after 2 month of what I felt was abuse I don't have a van and frankly would not recommend this company (Sam in particular) and would advise anyone to be wary and make sure everything is listed signed and agreed as they cannot be trusted.

After months of searching I finally collected the campervan of my dreams from Sam at Highlife Campers last week. A stunning, excellent quality conversion and definitely worth the 4 hour journey! Very pleased with the service from beginning to end. Sam was always happy to answer questions and give advice. Would highly recommend them for a high quality VW campervan. Thank you from one ecstatic new VW campervan owner 🙂
