I can’t fault HS Consultancy
I can’t fault HS Consultancy. They dealt with my business rates for 2023/26 from start to finish, and I was kept fully updated throughout my case with the VOA. They successfully secured a reduction for me, and the whole team was friendly, professional, and helpful.
I’ve now decided to let them review my new 2026/29 rates as well. I’ve been very happy with their service and would definitely recommend HS Consultancy to anyone needing help with their business rates.

HS Consultancy did a great job helping us with our business rates. We’ve recently received a rebate and, even better, a reduction in our rateable value.
The process did take a little longer than we initially expected, but the communication throughout was excellent, and we were kept informed every step of the way.

Looks good, but NONE of it was valid and as experts they know it is not valid, hence pre payment, not commission led - SCAM!

We appreciate that you may be disappointed that a reduction has not been achieved to date. However, disappointment with an outcome does not mean that the professional work undertaken on your behalf did not take place.
You paid for a service which included the survey and review of the property, preparation of plans and evidence, valuation work and submissions to the VOA. The case history clearly demonstrates that this work was carried out.
It is therefore important that comments remain accurate. Describing the service as a “SCAM” simply because the desired outcome has not been achieved is not a fair representation of the work undertaken.
Business rates appeals do not come with a guaranteed reduction, nor could any reputable professional guarantee the decision of the VOA. This is due to the inherent complexity of a business rates appeal and the fact that the ultimate decision rests with the VOA. The fee paid was for the professional work required to investigate and pursue the case — and that work was completed.

Extremely happy with the service and support from HSC Group
The team at HSC Group explained clearly each step from start to finish. The surveyor, Adrian explained what would be challenged and why as we toured the premises. The process was smooth and we were extremely happy with the reduction in RV we received.

We have used HS Consultancy for **two separate businesses, dealing with two different councils**, and unfortunately our experience has been extremely disappointing.
We paid a **substantial upfront fee** for them to carry out surveys and deal with our business rates matters. We are now around **three years down the line and, as far as we can see, we have got absolutely nowhere**.
The biggest issue has been the complete lack of communication. Trying to get hold of anyone at HS Consultancy has been incredibly difficult. Calls and emails regularly go unanswered, and we have been left chasing them for updates on work we have already paid for.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is that we have actually received calls from **HS Consultancy asking whether they can come out and carry out a survey for our businesses**, despite the fact that we are already customers who have paid them to do exactly that. How can different departments within the same company apparently be trying to sell us a service that we have already paid for?
We have now been left feeling that we have paid a substantial amount of money for very little, if anything, in return. At this point, we genuinely feel **let down and ripped off**.
Having now looked at the recent reviews for HS Consultancy, we can see that other customers have described similar experiences involving upfront fees, poor communication, delays and cases apparently going nowhere.
We appreciate that dealing with councils and business rates can take time, and we understand that not every case will necessarily result in a reduction. **That isn't our complaint. Our complaint is the lack of communication, the apparent lack of progress and the fact that after three years we still don't have a satisfactory outcome.**
**Two businesses. Two councils. Three years. A substantial fee paid. Still no meaningful result.**
Based on our experience, we would **think very carefully before paying HS Consultancy upfront**. We certainly wish we had done considerably more research before using them.

Whilst we understand some of your concerns are centred around a 'complete lack of communication', we would like to point out that you have had direct communication with our surveyor and senior management throughout the process, which remains ongoing.
Regarding the length of time these cases have taken, I must stress that we are dealing not only with your local authorities, but also with HMRC Valuation Office Agency, and therefore the appeal process can be notoriously slow due to procedural delays, both inherent and tactical, and also the complexity of the rating appeal system. We are also at the mercy of HMRC Valuation Office Agency when it comes to timeframes.
We acknowledge your point regarding the cross-departmental sales call you received, and your feedback has been passed on to our database administration team to ensure that all client records are strictly synchronized across all departments.
With reference to your claim about receiving nothing in return, we would like to point out that you have in actual fact received a fully comprehensive RICS approved rating valuation report for each of your premises, as formulated by our principal chartered surveyor.
They were great
They were great, communicated well, showed up on time and caused no disruption to the business!

Good communication
The service and communication we have received from HS Consultancy has been great. They clearly explain the procedures and any charges in advance, before you sign up. Responses to queries were quick and everyone has been friendly and polite. We didn't get to the stage of appeal so I can't comment on that element but I'd be happy to recommend the company to other businesses based on the level of service we received.

I would avoid this company at all costs.
From the very beginning I felt that it was high-pressure sales followed by empty promises. We were told they could save us a significant amount on our business rates, but despite multiple attempts they delivered absolutely nothing.
We were left out of pocket with no savings whatsoever and we felt the sales process created expectations that were not met.
If you're considering using them, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Based on our experience, they made big promises they simply couldn't deliver.
They’ve since tried to have this review removed, but it’s a true representation of our experience.

Any potential savings discussed at the beginning of a case are based on the information available at that time and represent an assessment of what may be achievable. They are not a guaranteed outcome. Business-rates cases are ultimately determined by the VOA and, despite the work undertaken and evidence submitted, some cases will unfortunately not result in a reduction.
We recognise that this distinction must be communicated clearly throughout the sales and instruction process, and we are sorry if you were left with the impression that a particular outcome had been promised.
Although the attempts made on your behalf were unsuccessful, this does not mean that no work was undertaken. As this is a public platform, we cannot discuss confidential details concerning your case, the submissions made or the VOA’s decisions. However, we would be happy to provide you privately with a written breakdown of the work completed and the outcome of each submission.
We would also like to address your comment regarding the review being reported. The review was posted under the name “T” and did not contain sufficient identifying information for us to match it to our client records. We therefore asked Trustpilot to verify the review so that we could confirm the account involved and respond appropriately. Best Avoided
This company charges you up front for survey work then makes incomplete submissions to HMRC at the last minute which are rejected. Reasons for rejection include: “it did not meet the legal requirements for a Challenge submission” and “information was either missing or not correctly provided”
Their communication is woeful. They missed numerous appointments, nobody is ever available to speak when you call, they never call back and they hardly ever answer emails.
Over the 4 years we have been dealing with them they have achieved zero savings so we are actually worse off than if we had done nothing at all!

Communication was free flowing and regular from HS Consultancy until we paid for the survey, since that point 14 months ago we have received no communication freely and constantly have to chase multiple times before anyone will even respond, unfortunately then they information provided isn't useful.
