Awful customer service
Absolutely awful customer service, we hired a cement mixer and cut saw for our garden, was meant to me collected last Monday, then it was Friday, then the Monday after and Tuesday and finally was collected on Thursday! I have wasted multiple days waiting at home when i was meant to be at work! No one seems to know what’s going on when it comes to collection of items! Will NOT be using again for this reason.

I’ve not received my order. What would you like me to write? I’ve emailed you but no reply. I’ve had an initial email from dhl, but nothing more.

Placed a very small order for a product that was difficult to source locally. The website was easy to navigate, the delivery communications were clear and easy to follow and the product arrived promptly within the stated delivery window.

Failure for them to collect items as agreed
The hire of the equipment was straightforward and arrived on the day requested, but it's proving impossible to return it. Three times they've agreed to collect but three times they failed to show up, though have claimed to have tried but no-one here which is incorrect. Fourth attempt is in two days time. No communication from them and all down to me to keep chasing. I would avoid using this company if at all possible.
UPDATE - after a failure to collect the items on Wednesday 15th, the customer advisor arranged for Friday 17th as the next date. I called their number to check first thing but they informed that no collection was happening once more. I’m really at the end of my tether as no idea how to get them to show up and collect the items. They keep promising to collect but fail every time. Avoid this company at all costs! Next date they say they’ve tried will arrive is Tuesday 21st but time will tell. I’ll update next week…
Can't even deliver two ladders
I used their website to hire two ladders.
The website would not allow me to have both ladders delivered on the same day, even though they showed as available. I can't help feeling this was to charge me two delivery costs.
The day before the first ladder was due to arrive, I got an email saying it would be with me during the afternoon of the next day. It never arrived. I contacted them about 4.45pm and their agent tried to contact the depot. they were not answering, so the agent rebooked the ladder to be with me today, along with the second ladder that was due today.
I contacted them this morning to get an estimate for the ladders being delivered. I was told it would be between 2pm and 3pm. at 3.30pm I contacted them again because the ladders did not arrive. the agent could not get an answer at the depot, so he could not find out if the ladders were on their way or if they were going to deliver at all today.
I asked the agent to cancel the order and give me a refund. the order has been cancelled, but I am waiting for the refund to come through.
The only good experience was the agent, Harvey, who was helpful every time I contacted HSS.
The work I need to do is now delayed further. Not happy.

Order still hasn’t arrived
Ordered the Tuesday to be delivered on Friday 10th, it’s Wednesday 15th now & it still hasn’t been delivered. Haven’t had any courier details either. They asked for a review, don’t expect it when you want it.
Terrible delivery experience
Was supposed to arrive friday but received phone call to cancel as a rat had chewed through a cable, was supposed to be delivered saturday received a phone call from the driver at the end of the day saying he had tried to deliver but couldnt get to me ,was supposed to be delivered on monday i didnt receive any communication from selco by 12.30 at first they couldnt find my order but then said that the driver was on tacho break it would be loaded onto truck and delivered after his break i went out and asked all my neighbors to move their vehicles to accomodate access for hiab, i spent 4 and a half hours standing in the wind and rain to ensure the route remained clear at 4.30 i again contacted selco only to be told the driver had called me and got no answer ,the phone number they told me was nothing to do with me and they had already contacted me twice on the only number i had provided, they said they would contact driver to find out when he would be with me, they called me back just before 6 pm to say the driver had gone to a different county to deliver and wouldnt get to me. Selco then decided they would send me 30 small bags on a small vehicle which actually arrived this morning. I appreciate things go wrong but as i work for b and q home delivery as a 7.5 tonne driver i know that absolutely zero effort was made in making this delivery and i would never recommend buying from you again especially as i have already had 2 bulk bags delivered by hiab to this address previosly ( different company).
Awful Communication, lost time and money
Didn't collect the equipment on the day specified, no contact to keep me in the loop. Upon phoning they said I had to ring the company they'd subcontracted the collection to, who in return said they couldn't help and to ring HSS. Incompetent and unhelpful. After taking a full day off work with no further update they had sneakily updated the collection date in the afternoon to two days in the future and not told me, so an extra day sitting at home waiting. They had the cheek to ask why I could possibly want a refund on the collection or cost of hiring.
Update: The complaints department ignored my request for a refund - and told me my equipment would be collected tomorrow (a day after the updated date they gave me). This was the first person to tell me when collection would be. They are expecting me to take 3 days off work in a week for a collection and they can't give me any sort of window. Again - ZERO communication apart from the complaints department.
