IOSH are a complete waste of time

IOSH are a complete waste of time. had issues that went on for 2.5 months before resolved and took 20 phone calls. Always told to let them investigate. it costs lots of money to be a centre and they still can not get simple things done. Customer service is nothing short of pathetic and they have spent months building a new portal that just does not work. STAY AWAY

My experience so far has been…

My experience so far has been disappointing. Customer service has been poor, as my initial email went unanswered and I had to follow up regarding the same issue. The response I eventually received lacked specificity and did not adequately address my concerns. In addition, the process of upgrading membership is taking an unreasonable amount of time and does not reflect the level of service expected.

Dreadful problems with the new website…

Dreadful problems with the new website are causing membership renewals to expire with no reminders and an inability to renew via the website. This farcical situation is not an acceptable level of service one would expect from a professional institution. Very disappointing.

Absolutely terrible experience

I’ve worked with IOSH for a number of years, which makes this even more frustrating to write.

The value of membership is extremely poor. We currently pay for staff's memberships, yet for the cost involved there is very little tangible return. It feels like you are paying simply to remain associated, rather than receiving meaningful support or benefit.

Recent changes to the certificate names for their e-learning courses have been particularly disappointing. These changes have clearly reduced the perceived value of the courses for our clients, yet were implemented with no consultation with training providers. For an organisation that relies on providers to deliver its products, this feels both short-sighted and disconnected.

To make matters worse, we purchased courses under one set of expectations, only for these to be changed afterwards, with no option for a refund. This has further undermined trust.

The training provider portal is also difficult to use and feels poorly designed, making simple processes more time-consuming than they should be. On top of that, the cost of digital certificates is far too high for what is provided.

Communication and support have been consistently lacking. We are currently waiting on a student certificate and, despite multiple emails and attempts to call, have received no response at all. This level of inaccessibility is unacceptable and directly impacts both our business and our learners.

At this point, the only thing IOSH seems to do efficiently is send invoices.

Overall, confidence in IOSH as a partner organisation has significantly declined. There is a clear and growing disconnect between IOSH and the training providers who represent them.

I've just recently enrolled onto the…

I've just recently enrolled onto the PDA route to CMIOSH which has tripled in price since the IPD days. My first submission went in, and the feedback I received was a confused mess, part template and using language that was unnecessarily, overly complex and bureaucratic. It was also generic and not specific, and I even suspect it was AI driven. I expected much more accurate and specific feedback when enrolled on a £550 PDA journey, especially when you only get 3 attempts at this.

Took my money.

Took my money.. that's about it. No service, no upgrade, no update access. No one to tell you anything else apart from their new system doesn't work. Been chasing for a month. I paid a joining fee as well as my membership fee. What have I got a month later? Nothing... absolutely Nada. Going to put the payment in dispute

Horrendous customer service and broken booking system

Wow, absolutely terrible experience. How are they even surviving as a business?
Booked a training course one month in advance and was advised that details would follow, one the invoice had been paid.
After two weeks, no invoice had arrived so this was chased via the contact form on their site. No response.
The week before the course I called their number and was on hold for over 30 minutes.
Once the call was answered, I was again put on hold for several minutes before being advised that IOSH had had a new system installed and, as a result, couldn't take any bookings. They had no record of my existing booking, it was no longer possible to get on the course dates I'd 'booked' and they suggested that I try for a future date.
You know what I think I'll try a different training provider instead. We won't use them again.
I only wish that Trustpilot reviews were linked on their site as I wouldn't have booked if I'd read them beforehand.

Similar experience to other reviews here. I have decided not to renew my membership after 19 years after the completely frustrating process of moving to certIOSH after graduating with a Nebosh Diploma. I have 20 years experience as a QHSE manager but that counts for nothing unless you also fill out a form which repeated all the info on my CV which they already had. IiRSM value you as a member and acknowledge my Diploma so sticking with them.

Unprofessional, overpriced, over valued and archaic. All the hallmarks of an organisation that has had a monopoly for way too long.

Very poor experience. Was a TechIOSH a few years ago, let it lapse because I found that IOSH offered nothing other than an archaic, and poorly designed personal webspace, and little to no guidance, for the princely sum that membership demands. Tried to return to the fold recently. Have sent three queries about membership levels, each spaced out by the time they advise, with no reply. Seems that they expect you to spend your money before they'll tell you what level you're eligible for. Practically selling unsolicited goods. (An illegal practice in other areas.) Waste of effing time. I've gone with IIRSM instead, who are much happier to have you on board and actually give you something for your membership fees.

Terrible service ...such a waste of money

Terrible service ... I am a training provider, they have build 3 platform that I need to use for services of 1 course...the level of incompetence is shocking.
When you call, nobody has a clue of anything.
You have to want for students certificates 1 month... such a waste of money IOSH is.

Avoid if possible

Iosh is expensive to be a member of. The three assessments which has to be completed before renewal is that stupid I can't understand how they actually relate to health and safety. It's more related to DEI. The questions and answers are at times odd and this time round there was module to go through before the assessments. Then when I tried to pay the renewal the website crashed. I wished I didn't have to have membership for my job

Terrible Customer Service - Membership Transfer

Membership transfer process has been a nightmare, sent emails back to them after they requested further information which was not clear on the initial transfer form. Called multiple times and get no answer. Left a note through their website with all the emails and information attached and they just replied to the email and did not review the documents. Its been almost 6 weeks trying to get my membership upgraded and they are useless.

That's waste of time

That's waste of time, long response time. It took over 3 months to get response about my membership transfer. Even thoough I'm over 15 years experienced professional with msc degree, they refuse to give me certiosh due to h&s policy not included in uni programme. They don't care that I produces many of them already working as safety consultant. There is no benefits in being part of this organisation. Milions mails inviting for conference, for which you have also pay.

No feedback on application

I applied for a job a couple of times got rejected with no feedback. Absolutely disgusting when I have over 29 years experience in training. No specific feedback, which if you work truly in training is a golden rule

IOSH? Don't Bother

If it was possible, I wouldn't give IOSH a single star.

Despite 26 years working within the EHS sector, being NEBOSH qualified and holding Tech IOSH status previously, IOSH have made it virtually impossible for me to get that status back. I've been back and forth so many times that I've lost the will to fight anymore. I had to let my prior membership slide due to having over a year off work due to major surgery.

Now, they've totally blocked my route back in.

My advice to anyone joining? Don't bother. It's not worth the stress

I can only agree with the comments posted below. Customer service is very poor. Its almost impossible getting a response to issues or questions in any reasonable time. I just did the three Ethical Modules that suggest that IOSH is a model of high ethical standard and professionalism and yet, that's not the experience I have been experiencing. Good luck if you are trying to upgrade your membership, that's a pretty poor service as well. Ironically, the emails are coming fast and frequent regarding due membership fees.

Going backwards

Members who pay a substantial amount to begin with, are required to stay up-to-date on CPD hours, all to receive appalling experience and service in return.
From baffling waiting times to receive feedback or test results, to receiving no response when actively attempting to join certain IOSH lead groups. IOSH are very good at sending out monthly newsletters, this must be what they spend all their time doing. I have met more people who have been put off by IOSH this year than any other year. An institution who seem happy to be losing keen learners each year.

Members not valued in any way

Sadly IOSH seems to have a culture of clear disdain for members. We pay our subs but seem to be an inconvenience! Sadly IOSH now seems to be most interested in IOSH rather than the world of safety or the professionals who work in this industry.
