Not the best, yet fair

Absolute scam. We paid two 14-day passes and they told us they would ship them to our hotel in Tokyo. We never got them and they are not even replying to emails anymore. Absolute scammers, never buy from this company, they are just a middleman!!!

EDIT: AFTER A WEEK OF NOT RESPONDING TO EMAILS AND US HAVING SENT MULTIPLE MESSAGES TO PLEASE REFUND US, THEY MADE A 100% REFUND ALSO WITH SHIPPING COSTS.

Resisted giving full refund for pass delivered too late

The website said had enough time to deliver the pass before travelling, but I paid extra for next day delivery. It did not come for a week, by which time I had already departed for Japan. The company then tried to only give a partial refund. They eventually agreed after multiple messages to pay full refund and postal costs, but then in the end refused to pay for the registered mail to return the pass (which they insisted we use if wanted any money back at all). Very disappointing.

Failure of responsibility

JR Pass failed to collect and pass on the required information for the package (family of 5 so a high transaction value) to be cleared by South Korean customs. As a result the package was delayed and consequently arrived after we'd left the country. If we'd cancelled the order we lose 20% so I managed through the kindness of strangers to get it rerouted, delivered, picked up and sent to another address. If your service is sending packages around the world, at least know what the requirements are for the country it's being sent to! Highly stressful to say the least and we still have to hope the package turns up!

False advertising

False advertising! The site said it would take just 3 days to get the voucher. I paid $29 for Fedex shipping to Australia. Took almost 2 weeks to get here and just 2 days before our flight to Japan. I am glad I bought it ahead of time, otherwise it would have been a big problem. I went to their forum online to ask why it was taking too long to get the voucher and where it is coming from. I posted twice and everytime it gets deleted. Had I known that there are other companies selling the Japan rail vouchers, I would never have gone near this site. My other family members were able to get theirs from Klook, it was cheaper and arrived just 3 days after! They didn’t have to pay $29 for shipping as well! When I got the voucher, I found out it was sent from the UK! This company should just set the delivery timeframe straight! It probably takes 2 days if you are in the UK but takes weeks if you are in Australia or somewhere else. Will not buy or recommend this company to anyone.

Smooth, fast and professional service, worthy of a real and honest review

I feel a moral duty to inform other website visitors that the site is completely legal and authentic.
In fact I was really scared because of some negative reviews here at Trustpilot.

The site completely fulfills its mission and provides the advertised service - it sells vouchers for Japan Rail Passes, foreigners are supposed to exchange for the real ones, when they arrive in Japan.
This is a standard procedure for non-Japanese residents.

I bought 2 vouchers on May 17th. The next day I was informed they were handed to FedEx. On May 18th I received them in my mailbox.

So... no problems. Everything was exceptional.
Besides that... the page is full of useful and informative articles.

Highly reccomend.

The JR Pass is exceptionally not worth…

The JR Pass is exceptionally not worth it. Besides not actually being much (if at all) of a savings, the process to get it is asinine, inefficient and overly complicated. Good luck trying to pick it up in Japan, too - be prepared for lines that are 2 hours or longer, worse when they are short staffed (which they often are). There are multiple JR offices/counters at each train station and each offer partial services but will mostly just send you somewhere else for what you actually need. If you ever do finally get through to the correct counter, don’t expect any help from their rude staff. Dealing with JR Pass was the absolute worst part of our experience in Japan and I highly encourage you to avoid it at all costs.

Great service. I highly recommend

I am not one to normally leave reviews however I felt I needed to sue to the great customer service from this company. I had recommended to purchase a rail pass from a colleague before entering Japan from the UK. I had left this until last minute which meant I was unlikely to receive the rail card in time. This company were fully transparent and communicated this. Although I had to unfortunately cancel my order this company gave great service throughout the process. I would recommend this company based on their speed and service.

My final recommendation is please order your rail pass ahead of time.

I feel so disappointed with this company, are they a fraud????

I feel so disappointed with this company, I bought 14 jr passes but it's been 17 days and counting they haven't sent me anything. The story is after the payment next day they emailed me asking documents for the verification for the credit card (which never happen before in any online overseas transaction) so I complied and sent them all the documents, they still asking for the bank statement (they never give me any clue of what kind bank statement that they want) but I asked for the bank to give the official statement regarding the address since I already sent them my passport and my credit card's picture before then the reply is the finance team is still checking on it, 17 days passed (my date to travel to Japan is nearer) I emailed them again asking many time regarding my order they never reply me back until I posted on their forum and instagram but the reply is the account team is still checking like seriously what kind of checking that needs 17 day and I checked with the bank that this company already got the money. I feel so anxious and so upset with this company, until now there is still no response from them regarding my order when I asked to cancel many time on ig, fb, twitter they also didn't respond. Can someone please help me with this problem? I feel tricked and £3019 is not a small amount of money. I need to update this review so last week finally they sent me the JR-passes, is that so hard to do? Is my biggest question for them.

Positive experience from UK. Recommend.

I felt compelled to write a positive review for these guys as it's very difficult to decide which site to use for the Japan Rail Pass.

I received the tickets through within 2 days and the customer service even responded just after I'd ordered the tickets to add my middle name to it which I'd mistakenly omitted.

There are some retailers who would ask you to cancel and re-order again, but not these guys.

Very good service. Highly recommend.

Scam Middleman

This is a scam. At best they are an unnecessary middle man that makes getting a pass more expensive, more time consuming, and less convenient. Passes can be purchased online directly from JR and then picked up at any vending machine with a passport reader. Purchasing through jrpass.com means you pay a higher price, you pay to have a voucher mailed to you, then, once in Japan, you must go to a specific kind of JR office (of which there are relatively few), you must wait in an often long line to exchange your “voucher” for an actual pass. Don’t fall for it. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Order with confidence!

Decided to go with JRPASS.COM *only* because they had an active forum.

Ordered the passes (in London) and received the jrpass within 2 days!

Slightly more expensive, but when you are parting with over £400 for a rail pass, an extra £10 was worth it.

Definitely recommend if you are new to this.

Good communication - Quick Service

I was planning my first trip to Japan to visit my daughter who was just out of college and teaching English there. I knew I needed a 14-day JR pass but wasn't sure if I should buy it in Japan, directly from JR Railroad's online site, or from JRPASS.COM. I decided to go with JRPASS.COM because their website was the most informative and understandable. I ordered from them on a Thursday. I was leaving the next Wednesday. That was cutting it a little close, but fortunately, they were able to get my voucher to me in Indiana by Monday evening. I landed at the Haneda airport in Tokyo. The airport was easy to negotiate but the JR Rail office was only manned by two people and while the line was not that long it did seem to take forever to get my voucher exchanged for the actual pass. If I had it to do over again, as a first-timer with a tight schedule, I would pay extra and use the Meet and Greet service because as I understand it they can expedite the exchange process and lessen the stress. In my case though, it all worked out once I got the voucher exchanged for the actual pass. On some trains, one can just use the JRpass by itself, but for many trains like the Shinkansen, you also need an additional reserved seat ticket. You can get those at any train station office and supposedly from the automated ticket machines but I always went to the JR ticket office. To make it easier I highly recommend getting the phone app, Japan Transit Planner (JTP) . I would enter my destination in the JTP and it would show me the trains I needed to take, when they departed and from what platform, and if any required a reserved seat ticket. If one or more trains needed a reserved seat I would just take the app to a JR Train office, and show them the destination on my app and my JR Pass. They would then give me all the reserved tickets I needed. I traveled with luggage and a pair of skis and didn't have any problem storing them on the train even though I had just a standard ticket. I actually saw no reason to pay up for a Green car ticket. All and all, my experience with JRPASS.COM was very positive. I found the company very easy to communicate with too. After I ordered online, I sent them a couple of emails with questions and they always responded within a day's time.

If there is NEGATIVE i provalybwould have guven this company! BEWARE!! Do not buy from this conpany if you dont want to have a HEADACHE. I bought $602 worth of green car and servixe 11/02/2022 and received email containing the link after 24H which is fine. Link for UPS has been “Label Creation” only for 15 days and although already in the process for disputing this amount to get my money back still very unhappy with this company. Please do not buy any service at all from this company. Now i have ti buy another set to Japan Rail Pass from another conoany and hopefully get my refund from this company

Awful shady practices

Awful. Website says if you spend over $880, you get up to 50% discount on your shipping price. Despite this we paid the full $23 for shipping to Australia. They email me days later saying they’ve put my order on hold because they decided it costs an ADDITIONAL $45 to be shipped. $68 shipping total when I already spent $1100. Ridiculous.

Cancelled my order and bought it from Klook where it was $97 less that JRPass, and that was before their awful bull crap extra shipping charges.

Highly Recommend (July 2022)

I used JRpass.com in July 2022 to obtain 4 adult Japan Rail passes. The entire process went very smoothly, from order through delivery. We received the passes in the mail in the US in just a few days, with frequent notifications as the process advanced. The process for exchanging the pass at Narita airport was very straightforward. I highly recommend using this site!

Will hold your refund hostage.

They are a legitimate company, but after I followed all the instructions for a 85% refund they will practically ghost you, now for 10 weeks and counting.

They take multiple days to respond but are so quick to respond to my chargeback claim with an appeal.

Hope ICPEN can help me out eventually.

Edit: Finally got a refund in Late August after they confirmed they received the passes back in Late May. That is a refund delay of almost 13 weeks.

So. If you want to deal with that, then be my guest.

At best a poorly run and disingenuous company. Claimed to ship the pass in 2 business days, while in reality it took 8 and therefore did not reach me before my trip. At which point they say the only recourse is to buy another ticket and after the trip refund the previous one, without mentioning that they only refund 85%. My traveling companion purchased his jr pass from another company and had it arrive within 2 business days with no issues

Costly Problems

You have to show the JR Pass to the station attendant, which is usually fine, but what if the station attendant is occupied? You have to WAIT! And yes, they will make you wait!!!! This happened to me! Had to wait 5 minutes outside of the gates for the station attendant to stop arguing with another customer. Ended up missing my local JR train by seconds (at JR Ibaraki), and by the time I got on the next train and to the bullet train station (Kyoto Station), the last Hikari bullet train had left 2 minutes earlier. They made me pay the equivalent of $120 USD to get back to Tokyo on the Nozomi. This is B.S.! The JR Station attendant held me back, then another JR employee charged me on TOP of the JR Pass Fee I already paid!!!!! Worse yet, that JRP Assistance Service I paid an extra fee for...... COMPLETELY HELPLESS!!!!! They told me to go take it up with JR, but how in the hell do you do that? I paid the extra fee for JRP Assistance so I could get help if there were any problems. Useless waste of money.
