Awful service in general

Awful service in general

Grass verge overgrown, weeds on sidewalks, litter bins overflowing,
Bins left all over the pavement after collections
So much wasted on incompetence,
And lack of planning and thought.
So expensive to live in this borough
And hardly anything in return

Drove from Woking via Worthing

Drove from Woking via Worthing, to do shopping in Kingston. No idea that it's all 20mph, on the rds, in and around Kingston. It was a nightmare, tough to drive, checking traffic lights, yellow crisscross boxes, checking speed and avoiding people walking out in front of the car, crossing the rds. I also paid £5.00, for parking and just glad I had my credit card, the machine at the multi, didn't take cash. So if you've not card your out of luck! I won't be going back, and I even lived there until 2016. With all the other charges, they seem intent on destroying not only the shops, but the shoppers fun.

KINGSTON COUNCIL HISTORICALLY ISSUUED THOUSANDS OF NON COMPLIANT PCN…

KINGSTON COUNCIL HISTORICALLY ISSUUED THOUSANDS OF UNLAWFALL PCN,s AND WILL NOT REFUND AND THIS STILL GOES ON TODATE.GIVE THESE COUNCIL OFFICIALS GREIF AND CHALLANGE RECENT PCN and visit Pepipoo forum for help .

Serendipity as per the historic link below. When are your parking department and/or NSL going to get their act together? The current PCN wording is even worse as we speak. Are you going to cancel and reimburse? Or just rely upon the fact that most people would not spot the errors on your illegally-worded documents? This must stop!" "#

THE STANDARD
"Bus lane driver exposes flaw in penalty notices"
12 APRIL 2012
The legality of thousands of bus lane fines has been called into question after a motorist overturned one by claiming it had used the wrong wording.

Musician Phillip Morgan was caught on CCTV camera in a bus lane at Eden Street, Kingston upon Thames, in his Rover.
But he noticed that the £60 penalty charge notice from Kingston council warned that if he failed to pay, an enforcement notice "will be served".

He researched parking law and discovered that the council had made what he called a "fatal" error. Under the London Local Authorities Act 1996, councils must inform motorists that an enforcement notice — leading to a higher fine of £120 — "may" be served.

He said: "It was obvious that Kingston had used the wrong form of wording. They were illegally pre-judging the judicial process. Thousands of these things go out which means thousands of other drivers have also been wrongly fined."

From 2008-2009, 2,643 bus lane fines worth an estimated £160,000 were issued in the borough. From 2009-2010 5,600 were issued, worth £341,000.

When Mr Morgan, 58, of Claygate, wrote to Kingston challenging the ticket, the council said it was cancelling the fine as a "courtesy" to Mr Morgan for drawing their attention to the "possibility" that their tickets were faulty.

It admitted it was changing the wording on its fines but insisted "we do not believe the wording to have been illegal or non-compliant".

It said that the matter did not affect the "validity of any other notice".

Today Mr Morgan told the Standard: "This is nonsense; if my ticket is wrong and they had to cancel it, it means the tickets of everybody else who was fined by the borough was also wrong. The council should hand back the money."

Parking expert Paul Pearson, of penaltychargenotice.co.uk, agreed. He said: "They have realised their error and have said they will change the wording but are refusing to refund motorists. The council is not entitled to collect money from non compliant PCNs and yet it is refusing to pay back. This is wrong."

A Kingston council spokesman said: "We have recently reverted the wording back to may' so that we can reproduce the exact wording in the London Local Authorities Act 1996. We will not be refunding any Penalty Charge Notices that have been issued in the past."

Well done Kingston Council sending out…

Well done Kingston Council sending out a letter regarding implementing 20mph in the New & Old Malden Neighbourhood Area. Dated 3rd July 2023, recieved 18th July 2023.
Dont blame this on Royal Mail - suggest you review how efficient your internal processes are ?, I know people who have still not recieved a letter ?
No doubt planned in advance to restrict objections etc ?
You have been hoodwinked by Sadiq Khan - it will not improve air quality, or see any decrease on the alleged 4000 deaths (Not proven) in London, and I doubt improve road safety. Should this be implemented - at great cost to the ordinary taxpayer during this difficult period, I have no doubt will cause many transport issues due to cost and lack of low cost public transport in many areas of greater London. Sadiq has manipulated many stats to suit bad financial management in TFL and RBK in following his "Advice" have failed to recognise a Red Herring to the detriment of it's Tax Payers. Wake up - smell the coffee ! Its not too late
On a secondary note I await the removal of speed bumps - as they are no longer needed and will stop the "Local Community" hearing the constant vibration associated to tbese bumps ?

Scammers, heavy-handed, totally inflexible and unhelpful Council Tax Collections Department

Scammers: By default RBK assumes multiple adults living at a property without asking the question or prompting the resident to confirm via telephone or online when they login, so if you're lucky enough to realise the council has overcharged you, you then need to apply for the single occupant 25% discount to be applied to your account (scam alert!).

Was making regular CTAX payments, yet after account was closed (tenancy ended), the council moved it to collections who slapped on a £75 penalty to my account without even trying to call me (yes they had my number), even though I had made 3 online payments in the month up till then.

Would rather use the postal system (invented in 1600s), instead of a much better communications medium. An insult to Alexander Graham bell who invented the telephone.

Heavy-handed, totally inflexible (would not remove the penalty), and totally unhelpful.

The council tax collections department makes zero sense. Just call someone if they're in arrears rather than sending letters.
