I’m very disappointed with how my…

Very disappointing experience, particularly with how my concerns were handled afterwards.

I arrived around 10 minutes early for Lilo’s routine vaccination appointment but waited around 33 minutes before he was seen. Clients arriving after us were called in first. I politely asked whether there was a problem, but received no clear explanation or expected waiting time.

Lilo eventually became increasingly distressed in his carrier. After initially trying to calm him, I became frustrated, raised my voice and tapped/slapped the outside of his soft carrier once to tell him to stop.

I have acknowledged that from the beginning. I take responsibility for what I actually did.

What caused me to challenge the clinic was the Director subsequently adding further allegations in writing, including that I had “slammed the door” and “slammed items onto the desk”.

Those descriptions did not reflect what I remembered happening. When I left, my frustration had already passed and I was simply trying to catch my Uber, carrying Lilo’s carrier in one hand and my phone/drink in the other — unless I somehow had a third arm I was unaware of.

So I asked the Director to check the CCTV.

That was the whole point: not to avoid responsibility, but to distinguish what actually happened from what staff had subsequently reported or repeated.

Initially I was told the CCTV could not be provided because other people appeared in it. After I formally exercised my data-access rights, I was eventually offered an in-person viewing, but told I could not photograph, record or take away the footage. Throughout the correspondence I was also repeatedly encouraged not to continue pursuing the matter.

The Director has now reviewed the footage herself and confirmed that she cannot see me slamming anything onto the reception desk. Regarding another alleged desk incident, she says the CCTV is inconclusive.

That is precisely why unverified staff accounts should not have been turned into formal allegations about a paying customer before the available evidence was checked.

Staff discussing an incident internally is one thing. Management repeating unverified details about a customer in professional correspondence is another.

Meanwhile, there was little acknowledgement of the clinic’s own part in the original situation: the prolonged delay, later-arriving clients being seen first, lack of communication and a cat becoming increasingly distressed while waiting.

Instead, my emails were publicly described as “vexatious”, comments were made about my “character”, and my client relationship was terminated with my emails and negative reviews specifically referenced.

My position remains very simple:

I take responsibility for what I did.

I do not take responsibility for allegations that cannot be established by the evidence.

Customers are responsible for their conduct. Businesses are equally responsible for their service, management and the statements they make about customers.

People make mistakes. What matters is having the integrity to acknowledge your own part.

For me, the matter is now closed. Lilo’s care will continue elsewhere.

Accountability and respect should work both ways.

We have given you the opportunity to come in and view the CCTV footage of your visit on Tuesday, which does include some quite unpleasant footage of you shouting at your cat and hitting his carrier.

After multiple members of staff reported their concerns to management, we initially intended to just politely and briefly speak to you about moderating your behaviour for future visits. However, this has resulted in you bombarding us with lengthy and vexatious emails and negative online reviews, which reflect more badly on your character than they do ours.

Since our professional relationship has clearly broken down, we have written to you to terminate your account with us. I hope you are more courteous to your next vets, and most importantly, kinder and gentler in your interactions with your cat.

The most amazing veterinary practice

I rescued a cat just over a year ago now. He’s had all his treatment at Manchester Cat Clinic, including recent tests. I couldn’t imagine sending my cat to any other veterinary practice. The staff including reception, nurses and vet surgeons are all compassionate and lovely caring people, who treat your cats like their own. They’re also amazing at what they do and provide an outstanding service. Your cat will be in safe hands and will get the best treatment possible at Manchester Cat Clinic. It’s also beautiful and calm inside, making it a really nice place for your cat to relax. The owners have really put time and effort into making the vets a space for both owners and cats to feel comfortable. I highly recommend registering your cat at this practice, and it’s also worth travelling for too. Thank you again to the fabulous team for the care they’ve provided for my cat these past few weeks.

Very poor customer service and lack of basic courtesy

I had a very disappointing experience at Manchester Cat Clinic today.

My appointment was booked for 11:30am, but I arrived at around 11:15am and politely asked reception whether the vet might be able to see my cat slightly earlier, as there were no other customers in the reception area and I was on a tight schedule due to a large delivery expected shortly after.

The receptionist’s response was rude and dismissive. I was told that because my appointment was at 11:30am, the vet would not see me before then. I accepted that, but by 11:30am there was still no sign of the vet. When I asked again, the receptionist was rude once more and simply told me to sit down and wait.

I explained again that I was under time pressure and that I could only wait another five minutes. At that point, there were still no other customers present, just myself and my cat. When the vet eventually came out and told me to wait, I explained that I could not stay any longer, especially as the appointment time had already passed. I was told to re-book, but after the way I had been treated, I decided I would not return and would take my cat elsewhere.

I understand clinics can run late, but what disappointed me most was the lack of communication, empathy and basic customer service. A simple apology or explanation would have made a big difference. Instead, I felt dismissed and treated as an inconvenience.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend Manchester Cat Clinic.

PS: I do not accept that this is an accurate reflection of what happened. I arrived early at around 11:15 am and politely asked whether I could be seen earlier because the waiting area was empty! I was simply asking whether it was possible, given that the clinic appeared quiet and there were no other customers waiting. My concern was not that I was refused an earlier appointment. My concern was the way I was spoken to and the lack of courtesy or communication.

I also do not accept the suggestion that I was being unreasonable or trying to “punish” a small business. I left a review based on my genuine experience as a customer. A business is entitled to disagree with a review, but dismissing a customer’s concerns as “unreasonable behaviour” does not address the poor customer service I felt I received.

I understand that appointments can run late and vets may not always be available exactly on time. However, a simple polite explanation or apology would have made a significant difference. Instead, I felt dismissed and spoken to rudely at reception, which is why I chose not to rebook and to take my cat elsewhere.

My review stands because it reflects my genuine experience on the day.

Your appointment was at 11.30am and the vet was not available before then. At 11.33am you were rude to the receptionist and said that if you were not seen within one minute you would leave.

The vet came out and advised that she would see you in two minutes, you said you had a delivery waiting at home and needed to be seen immediately, so the vet advised that your appointment was 20 minutes long so since you had a delivery waiting at home then you could go and accept it and we could see you later in the day if preferred.

You can't reasonably expect to turn up earlier than your appointment and be seen earlier, and then get angry when you are not seen within three minutes of your appointment time. Any appointment with any other business would be the same - be it vets, doctors, dentists, hair salons etc.

We are happy for you to go elsewhere but you need to realise that your demands are completely unrealistic and not decide to punish a small business with an unfair review based on your own unreasonable behaviour.

Brilliant vets would absolutely recommend

I was referred to this practice by my vet for an ultrasound scan and a second opinion. This is my second time at this vets and I was again very impressed by the standard of care. The initial consultation was excellent. I was asked to give full details of what had been happening. The vet had obviously studied his notes and was up to speed with his case. She was very thorough examining him and very kind. I felt very confident leaving him for the scan. They sent me 2 pictures during the day to show me he was fine and talked me through his results. It wasn't cheap but actually it wasn't as expensive as I thought. I'm more than happy with their expertise and caring attitude. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Manchester Cat Clinic.

Manchester Cat Clinic have been…

Manchester Cat Clinic have been outstanding. I'm delighted to find an independent clinic so close to my home!

Every member of the team is calm, gentle and genuinely cat‑centred, and the level of care they provide is exceptional. They take the time to explain everything clearly, never rush you, and always make sure your cat feels safe and supported.

The clinic itself is peaceful and beautifully run — you can tell immediately that this is a place designed around feline wellbeing. I’ve felt completely confident in their advice and treatment, and I’m so grateful for the kindness they’ve shown throughout.

It’s rare to find a veterinary team who combine such clinical expertise with such compassion. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Raising concerns about clinical management

Our cat developed a facial wound and itch during Solensia treatment .
Our ten-year-old cat Billy joined this practice in April 2025 and commenced monthly Solensia injections for arthritis, which worked very well. In October 2025 he developed a facial wound and persistent itch which worsened over the following months despite monthly reviews.
During this period, no member of the clinical team considered whether the wound could be a side effect of Solensia, despite this being a recognised adverse reaction. Instead, the team proposed a skin biopsy under general anaesthesia — which first required a cardiology review due to his heart murmur — at an estimated cost of over £1,300. A course of steroids was also tried. At no point was stopping the Solensia suggested as a first step.
I raised the possibility of a drug reaction myself after researching the medication. I then made the decision to withhold further injections and allow a wash-out period. The itch subsided. Billy subsequently developed an abscess following a mouse bite and was prescribed antibiotics — these resolved both the abscess and the longstanding facial wound that had failed to heal for five months.
I provided written feedback asking the team to reflect on whether stopping the drug and trialling antibiotics should have been considered earlier. The response was defensive. My account was subsequently terminated by letter shortly after I posted this review.
I am a doctor and was able to advocate for Billy using my clinical knowledge . I am concerned for owners who do not have that background and who rely entirely on the advice given.
The clinical environment is pleasant and some staff were kind, but I would encourage prospective clients to ask questions and seek second opinions where needed.
As a cat only vet one rightly expects the expertise to be of a high quality as this is one of their marketing strategies - managing a common condition like arthritis in an older cat should be straightforward for a specialist service to manage competently .

This is not an accurate representation of what happened and appears to be a vexatious and false attempt at defamation after we stood our ground following repeated lengthy WhatsApp messages and incidences of rudeness. As a doctor, you should look into the campaign "Civility Saves Lives" and consider how rudeness in day-to-day interactions can have a wide ranging impact.

OVERCHARGED

I rang Manchester Cat Clinic to book a consultation for my cat, the receptionist insisted I book an extended appointment which was £20 more. I agreed, meaning my appointment was 30 minutes which cost £75 instead of 20 minutes which costs £55. At the time of booking I also decided to schedule a SEPARATE appointment AFTER the 30 minute consultation, just to have my cats claws trimmed, the price for this is £15. Feeling a little suspicious I made it crystal clear to the receptionist that I expected a full 30 minutes consultation for the £75 paid and that the appointment for the claw trim should not be squeezed into that consultation time. I was reassured that this would definitely not happen.

Well call me cynical but I had good reason to be.

I attended for the extended 30 minute consultation, the vet went through my cats health with me. My partner noted she repeated herself a few times. At one point she was on the computer looking up the brand of food Im feeding my cat and said she would research the ingredients for me and report her findings back to me (she never did).

As predicted, exactly 20 minutes into my consultation she said she "might as well cut the cats claws right now". This took approximately 10 minutes. The consultation was only 20 minutes long (not the 30 minutes paid for) and the claw trim was 10 minutes long.

So basically I had a 20 minute consultation which should cost £55 and 10 minutes trimming my cats claws costing £15 which should equal £75.00.

But what I got was CHARGED for and did not get, was a 30 minute consultation costing £75.00 and a claw trim costing £15.00. All squeezed into 30 minutes. I paid £90.00.

IF vets put a timescale on consultations they really should honor it!

£20 minutes = £55
£30 minutes = £75
(That means 20 minutes verbal consult shouldn't be charged at £75).

I addressed this with the receptionist when paying and she just said, "It would've worked out the same price", and she kept repeating this as I made a half hearted attempt to explain the verbal consultation time given did not equal what I was paying for.

So it turns out I didnt need a 30 minute consultation, but was forced to have one.

Because of this lack of transparency ive decided to take my cat for his operation elsewhere. I dont trust that I will be charged in line with what ive paid for.

I have found the consultation you described and reviewed the notes.

I can see that you travelled a significant distance to visit us for the first time in early February for a second opinion on a complex medical issue. It is our policy that we book a longer appointment for second opinions like this and charge more than a standard consultation for a new problem for an existing client. This is detailed on our price list which is on our website and perfectly transparent.

The increased cost and time allocation in our diary for second opinion consultations is not just about the length of time that you are in the room - it's the fact that we also spend a significant amount of time reviewing your cat's previous notes ahead of the consultation. I can see that the vet also sent you a comprehensive follow up email afterwards with a summary of her findings and recommendations.

A nail clipping procedure costs £15 regardless of who performs it. The fact that the vet you saw offered to do it in the same room rather than to put your cat back in their basket, go back into the waiting room, get called into a separate room to see the nurse and taken out of the basket again was a good idea because it helps to minimise stress for your cat.

Having reviewed the records, I am happy that my team went above and beyond to assist you and your cat and provided a high quality of care at a fair and transparent price. I think you should reconsider whether it is reasonable to leave a small family business a 1* review making false accusations of being overcharged when you were actually charged exactly as you should have been.

Incomplete spay surgery! They only did one ovary!

My Cat Had to Endure Two Surgeries Due to an Incomplete Spay!!

I had Dobby spayed at Manchester Cat Clinic in December. After the surgery, the veterinarian informed me that Dobby only had one ovary and that the other could not be found. I accepted this explanation at the time.

However, starting from January, Dobby began showing clear signs of being in heat. I contacted the clinic again, and the veterinarian asked me to pay £200 for a blood test to check whether another ovary is still present. If the test confirms that there is another ovary, I would then need to pay an additional £230 for a larger surgery to remove it.

I explained to the clinic that I believe a reasonable approach would be for the clinic to cover the cost of the blood test. If it turns out that Dobby truly has only one ovary, I am willing to pay the cost, as that would mean I was wrong to doubt them. However, if both ovaries are present, then this is clearly not my fault. I chose their clinic to perform a spay procedure, and I reasonably expected that this would include complete sterilisation.

They refused this proposal and stated that their veterinarians are very experienced, that Dobby’s condition is abnormal, and that therefore it is not their responsibility.

It turns out that I took Dobby to another veterinary clinic, where the surgery was successfully completed and a second ovary was found. Dobby was never an “abnormal” cat with only one ovary — the second ovary was simply not found during the previous surgery.

As a result, Dobby had to unnecessarily endure two surgeries. If you do not want your cat to go through surgery twice, I would not recommend coming here.

Initially

Initially, I planned to hold off my feedback until after my cats' dental check-up, but the exceptional care at Manchester Cat Clinic prompted an earlier review.Having visited numerous veterinary clinics, this one stands out for its meticulous attention to every detail and beyond. Their communication is excellent and welcoming, the staff are remarkable and accommodating, and the vet I met inspired great confidence in both their expertise and the well-being of my pets.Although not the most inexpensive option, the reassurance and quality of care make every cent worthwhile. Even when managing two cats by myself, they offered assistance to my car and helped manage both the cats' stress and my disabilities. It's rare to come across a vet that truly understands their clients, both human and feline, and I'm thrilled to be one of them.

Exceptional care and knowledgable cat specialists. Won’t take my cat anywhere else. Eloise was so sensitive and gentle with my Cosmo; listening to her situation and finding a quick solution. Cosmo was so stressed at other vets, but at MCC she doesn’t want to leave! The receptionists even acknowledge your cat - a small thing that shows the care. So greatful for this vets- well done to the whole team! You need to train other vets.

I couldn't be more pleased to have…

I couldn't be more pleased to have discovered this clinic. I've had negative experiences with vet clinics in the past where cats were treated roughly and unprofessionally. However when I made an appointment for my cat, Layla, the entire experience was flawless from the start. The receptionists were wonderful, I exchanged several emails with them, and they were incredibly patient and understanding. I shared that Layla gets extremely stressed during vet visits, and they suggested giving her a mild sedative to help her relax, which worked wonders.

At the clinic, Dr. Daniel was exceptional. He treated Layla with such a care and professionalism. He took the time to explain everything in detail. The follow-up phone call where he discussed Layla's blood test results was thorough and informative outlining all the options clearly. Overall it was an outstanding experience. I'm so grateful to have found this clinic, and I can't recall the last time my cat received such kind treatment.

Amazing from start to finish. Great care & attention for my old girl who I moved from a previous vet. The Manchester cat clinic is a transformative experience if you’ve ever taken anxious cats to a vet with dogs in the waiting room. The receptionists were great on the phone & in person, and our vet Dr Eloise Quince was the perfect host. No longer worried about vets visits thanks to this ace team.

Kind and caring

After being unhappy with my other vet, I chose to take my senior cat to Manchester Cat Clinic when he became unwell after being recommended by a friend. Sadly he was too unwell and had to be put to sleep, but the team were so kind and caring throughout the whole process. They were upfront about costs with no hidden surprises. All staff treated my cat and myself with kindness and empathy including the ladies on reception who were a huge comfort when I was struggling. The vets were very quick to reply to messages when I had any questions about his palliative care and medication was made available quickly for me to collect. I am happy to support a family business and Dan and Ellie are both lovely people and fantastic vets. I was lucky enough to have 15 years with him and glad he was given the best care in his last weeks. I chose to have him put to sleep at home, but regardless they helped with arranging cremation. When the time comes for me to get another cat I will definitely register them here.

Manchester Cat Clinic - high quality cat focussed vets

Manchester Cat Clinic’s meticulous care of my three elderly cats with complex medical conditions has been absolutely fantastic. In each case their care and support has helped extend their lives and their quality of life as far as possible, and greatly relieved my stress during the process as a welcome side-effect. Their commitment to getting it right for our pets really can’t be faulted. The continuity of care provided by making sure they always saw the same vet has been a huge part of this.
