Milton Keynes Council Avis

I know that all councils work differently, but Milton Keynes is not so good. We are getting married in October although we are getting married in a church in Luton but I was told by Luton registrar that I had make an appointment with the registrar in Milton Keynes, which I did they took £35.00 from me before my appointment. As my Fiancee lives in Nottingham she made an appointment for the 31st August but because she is not a British citizen we had to attend together. But I was asked for £35.00 along with my Fiancee, but I explained that I have already paid and she said that I need to pay. Then she said that I did not have to attend Milton Keynes register office so I said that so I am paying twice and she replied no you do not have to pay twice and for me to contact Milton Keynes register office to get a refund. I contacted them on the 31st August and they said they would look into it. I get an Email on the 6th September to say because they have terms of conditions that if your appointment is not cancelled within fourteen there is no refund. I explained that they failed in their terms and conditions as they failed to send confirmation of my payment over the phone and they failed to send me confirmation of my appointment. I do see why I should let them get away with it. I have never heard that you pay upfront before your appointment. I do not intend to let the matter rest here.

If only I could give it zero stars. Very RUDE staff on helpline for recycling centre at council offices. An absolute joke of service we are receiving now including lack of waste collections, bin lorries creating a mess in streets and no road sweepers to clean up after them. They can’t even return your bins to where they found them! Half the time leaving them in the middle of the road. Or they pile a whole streets worth of bin bags on your boundary and leave it there! Now we have no green bins and no update when it will start again. The roads in and around MK are a state with potholes and even those marked are not repaired for months on end. I’d like to know exactly what we pay council tax for? We have lost our local fire station, As for the police service ( can’t call them a force as they have none, technically they aren’t even providing a service anymore! ) as a victim of crime the police didn’t even come and take a statement after aggravated burglary and just gave a crime number! Disgusting considering it was an actual assault and theft. We have a very poor show of waste and recycling services. Our GP surgery is virtually none existent for services. I Genuinely want to know what are we paying in excess of £150 a month for?

I was on a walk ,causally strolling along the canal in fenny Stratford and all in total saw a large amount of needles and other drug related stuff. The council need to do a proper clean up around Milton Keynes and make it as clean as they could get because if a child was to step on one, what would the council do absolutely nothing.

I am a full-time student, and I got a £150 pound council tax parting gift at the end of my tenancy.

I called, emailed... no good answers. All I know is that they made it incredibly difficult to claim or complain against them. Utter joke. Good luck to anyone moving in MK.

MK council does its best not to help at all.
When I phone up and ask for a particular service I don't expect to be told to phone back tomorrow, only to be told the next day that I had phoned the wrong number, but that they would "transfer me" - and I was then cut off...twice.

The website is atrocious.

Support for small businesses is non existent regarding navigating the grants process.

Gaining grants for struggling businesses should not take so much time to navigate, and then when you cannot receive adequate help it is as good as denying paying constituents money rightly due from the government.
MK council are not there to keep that money for themselves, they are there to help local businesses survive!

Disgraceful experience from grumpy, rude phone operators. I have NEVER had such a useless service from any other council.

Very poor on all fronts I hate having to live in this dump if I could move I would be gone in the blink of an eye.
I have lived in many parts of britain an this place has to be the worst housing stock black mould the housing estates are awful the councillors take some beating in the thick as a brick stakes one put up road signs with welcome to milton keynes county its a town did he pay for them no we did is he going to be made to pay for them no chance

My grandaughter supposed to have updated kitchen. They've put in three new doors and moved the rest around which dont fit. Thete's holes and plinths too which sont match. I've never seen such a mess. Doors diff colours and mismatch of levels. When she called the tradespeople she was told she should be grateful with what shes got! Disgusting to make personal remarks. Its not their place to.

The information and service provided by this council is absolutely unbelievable. When you ring the numbers shown on their website and letters sent there always no response (Example: Home ownership). They always try to put in as many barriers as possible for customers. What’s the point in ringing 01908 691691 and then getting your call transferred to the relevant department? Why don’t you just display the relevant information on the web page (direct numbers) and make things easy. One thing this council surely knows is how to waste money on unnecessary stuff. They customer service department is a joke as they don’t have no information with regards to most of the services provided by them. They always say will raise an information request to the relevant department and they will get back. I think the customer service department is being run to justify they budgets. Forgot to mention getting response to email is an absolute joke.

Round the houses with logging into tip slot booking! Already registered with MKC account but always have problem signing in.
No clear, direct route to booking tip slot just a lot of old articles from 1st lockdown regulations re tips 😖
Clearer, reliable service needed ...

Milton Keynes Council sends out threats to businesses who had not paid their business rates. This is a Council who has no one to answer the telephone, provides no support to struggling businesses that are not allowed to use their business premises because of lockdown. We are a business battling like many others with offices in Milton Keynes to stay viable. There is no support for service businesses and although Milton Keynes is in Buckinghamshire the County Council looks after everyone else and we are left at the mercy of Milton Keynes Council who just do not care if you go out of business. After this is all over I will seriously look to move my business out of Milton Keynes and would strongly advise anyone looking to locate in Milton Keynes to fully understand what they are letting themselves in for. Paying business rates to a council doing absolutely nothing for you is their priority and they threaten court action and do not have the decency to communicate. Milton Keynes Council is a disgrace and local businesses should band together and try to get it abolished in favour of being covered by Buckinghamshire County Council.

How greedy Milton Keynes council is. After being self isolating for a year. Sending out letters and fines for parking permits, to park outside of our own houses. Greedy rotten people. How much do you want from people. If having cancer is not enough, having no money, not going out for neatly a year and you won’t your £25. I hope you sleep at night

Having reported street lighting issues several times, after more than two months, the same lights are still out. With an explanation, I can accept that may be the case but, having chased a few times, I've been fobbed off with a misinformation that they've been fixed when they haven't! I can also see via CCTV that no-one has attended the site. How do you answer that, MK?

Today I booked an appointment for my local recycling centre through an operative called Alfred Forbes, what a fantastic, jovial gentleman, he took me through the procedure effortlessly.

Worst council in the UK, they don't care about tenants all they are interested in is money, they are relentlessly at sending letters..I pay monthly but after a week they will write and write and keep writing letters, you are forever repeating the same thing over and over again even during lock-down the letters just kept coming and coming..I recently suffered two heart attacks ...did they care ..oh no

Milton Keynes council is an absolute joke. They implemented a 'floored' online booking system for taking household rubbish to the tip, apparently this is in response to COVID 19 but still not quite sure how it adds benefit? Anyway, when booking your slot online the soonest slot is usually 3-4 weeks down the line, however the system appears to have a fault and shows an error when you click confirm. I have logged a complaint to which they commit to responding in 5 days..... I'm still waiting. Can the council not see the bottle neck they creating and how they promoting flight tipping..... Ridiculous.

Useless - takes ages to speak to a person and I have been promised feedback on an issue for two weeks now and I don't expect ever to get it.
They waste too much time and resources over issues that are nothing to do with the town and ignore the council tax payers

They never try to solve any problems these years. so sad!
