George Romney Ltd is a fourth-generation confectionery business that you’ll find located on the edge of the Lake District National Park in the market town of Kendal. Mr Sam. T. Clarke, the great grandfather of the present Managing Director, Mr John Barron, started production of Romney’s Kendal Mint Cake in 1918 after being medically discharged during the First World War. Unable to obtain supplies of Kendal Mint Cake, he sought out and purchased an old recipe and started a confectionery manufacturing business. The company name ‘George Romney Ltd.’ was chosen as a result of Kendal’s association with the famous portrait painter, as well as the fact that the family home was on Romney Road. Romney's Kendal Mint Cake was immortalised in history on May 29th 1953 when it was carried on the first successful summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sirdar Tenzing. All of our production now takes place on-site at Mintsfeet Industrial Estate, Kendal, where we have been since 1969. We now employ 16 members of full and part-time staff, who collectively produce over 100 tonnes of Romney’s Kendal Mint Cake a year. We also produce a large range of fudge, gift hampers, and our very own Old Fashioned Treacle Toffee — that’s still being made to an original family recipe.

Amazing service and product
My order was sent in very quick time, was packaged brilliantly as not to damage the beautiful mint cake inside, I ordered 2 of the 550g bars at a very reasonable price, only problem is they didn’t last very long as everyone had to dive straight in haha! Will definitely be purchasing more direct this next week

Well packaged and quick arrival. Great product keeps me fuelled, I have Crohn’s disease so my system isn’t very efficient, the mint cake gives me the instant kick I need to keep going on longer runs

I love Kendal mint cake and the nougat…
I love Kendal mint cake and the nougat is to die for. Quick on delivery even though I ordered mine in between Xmas and new year . I highly recommend the chocolate covered mint cake , it has a lovely smooth texture and just melts in the mouth 😋. Give this site a try I promise you will not be disappointed.

Overseas ordering
The ordering was easy. The shipping to the USA was good for overseas. A few of the bars were broken...I guess that is to be expected with overseas shipping.

Highly recommend
Love the mint cakes! I use them for running, hiking, and long walks, plus keep a few in the car for emergencies. Shipment arrived promptly, was packed well, and the price is better buying directly from the company than from importers (I’m in US).
