Benitez delivery hell.
Benitez delivery hell.
We are living in Ireland but recently bought a small apartment in Malaga, historical centre. On April 2nd we visited the Benitez store in Fuengirola and purchased a corner sofa, small side tables, dining table, two chairs a mirror and two bedside tables, in excess of €5,000. We stressed that we were returning to Malaga on April 29 and would stay in a hotel that night and take delivery of the furniture early on April 30. We told the salesman (nice guy, not his fault) that the apartment was unfurnished and he confirmed that 30th was the agreed date.
On the 30th am our bed was delivered as promised from Corte Ingles, also some flat pack furniture arrived from Ikea. We waited all day for the delivery from Benitez but finally got a phone call in the afternoon to say their truck had been refused entry into the city centre due to its size. After various phone calls back and forth we were informed that the furniture would not now be delivered until the following Monday, 5 days ahead. As the next day was a national holiday , May 1, they could not deliver then. My husband pleaded for them to deliver on Friday 2nd May but they absolutely refused. My husband explained that all we had in the apt was a bed, nothing else, not a single chair and could they at least send the dining table and two chairs in a small van on the Friday, again we were met with a blank refusal. We considered trying to book a hotel but the prices at the last minute were too expensive and so we sat on the floor in despair.
The following morning the owner of the small cafe below where we went for breakfast saw we were upset and exhausted and they offered us the loan of two of their dining chairs and we gladly accepted. We returned them on the following Monday when the furniture finally arrived.
We are absolutely disgusted by the intransigence of Benitez. They told my husband they were 50 years or thereabouts delivering furniture and never before encountered these restrictions and my husband replied "you call yourselves professionals and you don't even know the allowed delivery times in the city centre? Corte Ingles could deliver a double bed on 30th but you couldn't organise your own delivery truck."
We have not received a phone call, an apology nor an offer of compensation from Benitez and that about sums up this company for me. In excess of €5,000 euro spent and a very, very bad experience for all that.
