After receiving an initial letter I have been bombarded with cards through my door every other day informing me someone has been and requesting I complete this survey.

This has been going on for the past 2 months now at least.

Doorbell rang today whilst I was in and spoke to someone who explained to me what it was all about and why they needed the survey, such as needing more specific places of worship, schools, services needed for children with special needs, etc in the area and that the survey had nothing to do with the government.

However, when going onto the survey it specifically says gov and so does the contact info.

I started the survey just to get them off my back, however, I was quick to abandon the survey after a few questions. I'm sorry but asking me about my employment details, delving deeper into the details of what I was doing in my job, then asking me my main responsibilities of my job after already providing details of my job description then after all that going into training and qualifications has absolutely NOTHING to do with what the community needs.

I stopped filling this out, discarded it, ripped up and threw away the card.

What is with all the personal, intrusive questions?

No you do NOT need to know the details of my household and how we are all related to each other.

You do NOT need to know about all my employment and qualifications and what I'm doing to look for work.

You do NOT need to know anything about me and my family to know what my community needs. If we need another church, mosque, school or help with a special needs child we'll contact our MP ourselves thank you very much!

STOP WITH THE INTRUSION AND HARASSMENT!!!

F* OFF! If I get a knock on my door or a card through my door again I'm reporting it to the police.

Very persistently tried to contact me on the phone after I turned the field staff away due to feeling really unwell and not letting them in my house. Very rude and inconsiderate. Ended up having to block the man's phone number. As a young woman in her early 20s I really don't appreciate unsolicited unplanned visits from a random strange man at my door trying to invite himself in as it is.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience with one of our interviewers.

Your address has been randomly selected to take part in one of our surveys and the visits are being carried out to confirm that you’ve received the invitation letter. If you are unable to speak with an interviewer in person, they will sometimes call to encourage you to complete your survey.

It’s so important to take part in an ONS survey. The questions we ask allow us to collect vital information so we can understand the changing needs of the UK.

Verging into harassment territory now

Verging into harassment territory now. Not sure in how many ways we can say not interested. Multiple letters received and binned, to have them turn up at the door and be told we’re not interested only to then start getting phone calls at 9pm!

It’s a joke and no voucher is worth this. Just leave people alone!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry that you’ve not had a good experience with our surveys.

If we send you a letter to take part in a survey and do not receive a response after two weeks, we will send another letter to remind you. There can occasionally be an overlap between you telling us that you do not want to take part and the reminder letter being sent. We apologise for any confusion this might cause.

Our field staff’s working hours end at 8pm, and you should never be contacted after this time. If you’ve received a call or house call after this time, we sincerely apologise and will take action to remind all staff of this policy. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It’s so important to take part in an ONS survey, as it’s your chance to help us understand the changing needs of the whole community.

Ignore it, it's all about if you are working or not. Nothing about 'shaping tomorrow'

This survey was obsessed with if I was working, had I been working between certain dates and I kept on answering the questions expecting to be asked something about 'shaping tomorrow', which never happened.
This felt like they were checking up on me. For what? I don't know. I'm retired, have several earned pensions relating to my being a military and war widow and I pay my taxes and receive absolutely no benefits of any kind as I am entitled to none. So why I was being asked if I was working, did I want to work, was I looking for work and so on was completely irrelevant to the title of the survey.
I would advise people not to do it as it felt very intrusive and creepy. I have yet to receive the £10 voucher and I wish my greed for a free tenner to spend in Tesco hadn't persuaded me to do this survey.

Thank you for your feedback, we’re sorry that you’ve not had a good experience with our surveys.

We select a sample of households at random from the Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File, so all households have a fair and equal chance of being chosen to take part. Once a household is chosen at random it cannot be replaced, and so we encourage them to submit responses through a range of methods.

If we send you an invitation letter and do not receive a response after two weeks, we will send another letter to remind you to complete the survey and extend the deadline another two weeks.

If you’ve already told us that you do not want to take part, there can occasionally be an overlap between you telling us and the extension letter being sent. We apologise for any confusion this might cause.

Taking part in an ONS survey is so important. Your answers help us shape your local facilities and services to support your community.

Easy, and important

Took part in the Shape Tomorrow Study, really easy to take part, received the promised voucher within a couple of weeks. It did go into my spam/junk, but they did say it might, so I checked for it and there it was. Very happy to take part, read up a bit about ONS on their website, if we don't take part then the authorities are working with less than the full info, so I think it's important. I was not asked for any account names or numbers, just an amount, so I feel confident there is nothing untoward that could be done with my data.

Do not take part in fictitious survey

After several attempts to get the “promised” voucher from this suspect organisation using the email survey feedback email address and a DPO Statistic address they give and complaining again and again, giving them the info they request they have STILL not sent the voucher. To add insult to injury I have now received 2 requests signed by Emma Rourke - Acting National Statistician (really!!) to take part in another survey about the “opinions and lives” of people in Great Britain. What a cheek, what a rip off!
DO NOT TAKE PART even if an interviewer calls you. I am complaining to my MP and I suggest others do as well!

Thanks for your feedback regarding our business surveys. We're sorry to hear that your experience hasn't been positive.

To produce accurate and representative statistics, it's really important that we collect information from businesses of all sizes. Without this, our selection methods couldn't be considered fair, and the resulting data might be biased or unreliable.

Our surveys are conducted under the Statistics of Trade Act 1947, and so participation is compulsory. However, we’re committed to supporting businesses throughout the process. If you need any help completing the survey, please contact the team listed in the letter you received and they’ll be happy to assist.

As far as I’m concerned right now, the ONS have stolen my data

Edit:

Appalling behaviour by your bullying…

Appalling behaviour by your bullying operative. Turned up at my gate, whilst my daughter and I were having a private conversation, loomed over us, and said I want to know why you haven't filled out your form, I said it was optional wasn't it, I chose not too. The man called Richard said you don't need £50 whilst looking me up and down. I said no I don't want £50 for filling out a form thanks, he again said why? Quite menacingly. Then walked away saying I wish I could turn down £50 willy billy, that's more than I get for coming here. I told him he was rude and to leave.

If you want forms filled out so you can know more about the way people are living nowadays may I suggest that using bullyboy tactics and sending blokes round that look like a bailiff is not the best way to get people to help your company learn how people live!!!

Also it's not really £50 it's a voucher that most people as I'm sure your company knows don't tend to use before the end of date because the voucher is not for essential items that people necessarily need!

After er receiving the invite my family completed the first form earlier this year and noted a voucher would be sent, nothing came.
Then months later another survey with promised voucher completed but nothing came so emailed and was told voucher coming, nothing came, is it a scam, I checked and doesn't appear to be just a waste of time.
I'm recommending people ignore it, I will be.
6/3/25 once again a letter to complete a survey, emailed a complaint and told them not to resend, it's a scam.
