pink slip approach - dishonest mechanics

I am not one to ever leave reviews but this experience has been so horrible. And people should know about some of these “mechanics”, being dishonest and trying to make money while screwing over their clients.

Very unprofessional, the person I dealt with anyway.
I am referring to one of the men who works at psa randwick, there are a few and I do not know what the others are like, they could be different. I hope so anyway.

I had my battery changed in May 2025, because apparently I needed it changed. I don’t actually think I did as my car started up fine and was driving normally. But the guy insisted that if I did not get it changed then the inspection would fail. That in itself is such bullshit and I am pretty mad that I even believed him. There were no safety issues. Obviously he wanted to make some extra money from selling a battery that is double the price of a battery you buy from the stores. Which I did not know at the time. So, if you need a battery don’t buy it off them, save yourself $200.

Anyway, I agreed to have it changed because it was a few years old anyway and I thought I would probably have to get it done soon regardless. For reference I have a dual battery system (two batteries connected).

Turned out he did not have the same battery as I have in my car already, I had TWO (dual system) SS66 batteries. He did not have that battery, so he decided that the ES66 battery would be fine, which it was not (I didn’t know at the time). Obviously I am not an expert and he is the one who knows what is right and what will work, so I trusted him. For context, a dual battery system needs to have the same batteries all the time, same CCA and other specifications needs to be the same, or it can damage the battery and electronics also.

He changed one the batteries to an ES66, so then I had one ES66 and one SS66. The SS66 battery is the one I needed, as that is the one I had before and would be the same as the second battery. The SS66 batteries have a higher CCA than the ES66, so from what I have learnt after all this is that the higher cca battery has damaged the newer lower cca battery and possibly caused other electrical issues.

It is basic knowledge apparently that the cca on dual batteries needs to be the same, so I am not sure why he thought that was okay and he could get away with that.

I tried for two weeks to get him to fix it and he never offered to come, never apologized and had no desire to help fix his mistake.
He also told me I was confused ?? I don't know how that is possible haha I am not the expert here. He was not very nice, rude and unapologetic.

A week after the new battery the car had new issues that never have happened before, it had no lights, no dash lights, no starting, nothing. No signal to the pcm and new codes. And low battery voltage because he put in the wrong battery.

It is the mecahnics responsibilty to do what is right and not cause damage, I did not know before he put it in that they needed to be the same, but I am 100% sure he would know that. So I don’t know why he did not just leave the one I had in and he would have avoided this whole thing from happening.

Regardless of what kind of car I have the dual batteries needed to be the same and he has not admitted his mistake. I just want future customers to be aware.

I rang again and a different man answered and he came the same day, 20 minutes after. He got a new battery for me and put it in the following day. Although they did once again charge me for the difference on the new battery (which is $200 higher than the store prices btw). He fixed it in 2 days after I have tried for two weeks.

I would be alot less upset if they admitted their mistake and fixed it straight away, you'd think that would be the professional thing to do and cop the extra cost because you screwed up, but no I had to pay more to have it fixed.

Hopefully his mistake has not caused any permanent damage to my electronics.

If you are reading this do your job better!

Just be aware there are some dodgy ones out there

I am still waiting for an apology.
