Daylight robbery of the worse kind
Sold company and was initially told if no change(i.e. no change in trading name/address) other than ownership license applied. Now told otherwise by angry new owner. Tried to cancel and get a refund but told when contract was signed it was for 12months so no refund. How can that be!! Even DVLA refund unused road tax if you sell your car. I'm happy to pay for playing music but when that ceased you shouldn't be forced to pay for something you no longer require. Was told you had a choice to sign or not. I cannot see that as a choice. You cannot not sign unless you don't want to play music. Where is the choice??
Thieving scum
They don't send a letter, then send a overdue invoice, and have already sold it onto the baliffs! They did similar last year too!
1 star is too good but cant do less
Absolutely appalling experience with…
Absolutely appalling experience with this company! Same as everyone else - a member of our staff was tricked into saying that she listened to music and was then terrified and bullied into accepting a nearly £1000 invoice - no contact with owners, no information about the the of business and how we operated just bullying into paying a backdated invoice. I contacted their customer service and like all these organisations was landed with someone who quoted from a script! I have contacted Watchdog and will be writing to my MP suggest everyone else does the same. Would give no stars if possible. Just dreadful experience!!
Avoid this company
Customer service - nil
Promise to call back - nil
I have got nothing good to say about this company, staff are not trained and have no idea of how accounts work and what a credit note is. Billed me for a premises that had burnt down years ago.
Where is the zero stars option?!
My honest experience... bullying in the workplace, a company who tell you how it is in your own business, when you've already told them countless times that's not the way it is.
Basically, do not answer the phone to them or give them an inch - they will take everything.
The worst 'customer' service I have ever experienced, and an approach that lies in between bullying and... bullying.
Disgraceful bullying tactics
Disgraceful bullying tactics, abusive hounding and unnecessary extra charges placed on legitimate work places with limited or no access to TV/ radio who still are pursued and threatened into paying exorbitant fees.
As an employee not qualified to answer the barrage of devious questions I feel ashamed and guilty at my company having to pay this unneccessary pricey licence because of the information I innocently provided.
Horrific to deal with
Horrific to deal with, always have another loop hole or reason for why you owe them money. Sod of and do something worth while!!!
Awful awful company
Awful awful company, customer service is shocking. I'd give no stars if I could. We received our bills based on previous years, however since then, I had taken over and we had moved premises, plus there had been a few changes within the building so needed a re-valuation as such, they refused to speak to me as I wasn't the person listed on the account, I have been trying to get this resolved for almost a year!!! I chase and chase, they come back and say I am not the person on the account, I have emailed, called and wrote to them. I have never know something so easy to be so difficult. I cannot believe they survive as a company. Good luck if you are a music venue, we are just an office/warehouse!
Absolutely shocking 'business'
Absolutely shocking 'business'. They are charging me for a service I do not require and yet when I refuse to pay they start the bully boy tactics of threatening a debt collector and court. Not only that, this will now affect my excellent credit rating. I am so upset by how I've been treated.

I was sure this was a scam when they contacted us and demanded £1,200 for backpay for our small shop with 2 employees because we played some music through a small bluetooth speaker. There is no customer service or people to speak to, just a legal department ready to sue. Why is it not a charge per employee or turnover? An absolute burden for small businesses, government should be ashamed for partaking in this scam.

Four e-mails from us querying a 50% increase in bills over last year, no acknowledgement, no reply...disgraceful customer service. It's about time the Ombudsman acted against this shower...
DISGUSTING
DISGUSTING
Call you up and ask deliberately misleading questions to get you stuck in a position where you owe them money. We work in a factory unit with a total of 3 workers occasionally listen to the radio and they expect £600 a year??? I called them up saying the way they operate is terrible and it's been causing me anxiety. Then they inform me that they use an external company to make the calls and have been receiving a lot of complaints about the way they have been contacting people??? Well then stop doing it!!
They try and quote you from a tape of the phone call as evidence as to as to why the charge is so high yet the invoices don't disclose detailed info about what the charges are for and what kind of licence they have charged you for. I have requested the tape to listen to myself and have requested a detailed breakdown of the charges. As one minute they are telling me the £600 is for the yearly licence and the next they are saying its for backdated charges! Well you can't charge me something if you don't disclose what it's for!
Thieves with license!!
Thieves with license!!
The price increase on an annual basis can be at times by15-20%
This is for playing Radio (Bare in mind that radio stations are paying license themselves)
They are running a costly collection system which most likely takes a huge cost out of the actual money that is paid to the artists in royalties.
If we all -business owners-get together and unite to fight this organisation which monopolies our businesses and with the power of social media boycott the music ,it will deny and may even cause them to vanish.
Do we really need them!?
Enough with the extortion of money under the name of artists protection.
Let’s fight this one with all the power!!
This company has called me several…
Complete nonsense! This company has called me several times, they are giving the impression that they are some official governing body that is recognised by the government, which sounds like its completely made up. I have told them many times that our company doesn't play any music in public, yet i get calls from them all the time. They are clearly some sort of con job and are trying to trick people into something. When I asked them to stop calling the canvasser said that they will only try to contact me in other ways. Very aggressive sales pitch and if I am contacted by them again I will write more bad reviews on other platforms.
Dont even attempt it and risk the fine
If i could give a 0 star rating i would,
I'm happy to pay what i rightfully owe, however i had some questions so i didn't pay, instead i contacted them and could not get through, infact i couldn't get through at all so i ignored all the late payment reminders and when they send a debt collection company after me, i complained about the lack of communication and that i would pay when they replied.
Funnily enough they replied pretty quickly after that!
The lowest of the low
The lowest of the low, paying themselves high wages and spending a fortune on purchasing and renting properties before passing any of this on to the artists. They need to be regulated by an international regulator as we pay a lot more here than other countries for listening to the same music. They are in it for them and no one else, they should be ashamed of themselves.
PARASITES
Don' answer emails, don't get in touch to 'sell' license just issue a invoice. Whatever one syas about not playing any music they have the stock answer "but you might play it so need a license" or "the adverts on tv play music so you need the license" So they get it twice once from the advertisers and then from the pubs and shops. Parasites.
I sold my restaurant in March 2018 and…
I sold my restaurant in March 2018 and told pplprs agent face to face .when he turned up at my restaurant ,after a year pplprs took £709,71 on my bank account for the year 2019. I called to pplprs they told me there is no refund because I didn't cancel my license contract with them so they got the right to keep charging me also pplprs was asking for £167 for the balance of 2019 . how can be like that ?? is looking that pplprs like daylight robbery .
Causing me a breakdown
I am a small guest house which is only busy during high season. I have a small bar i open occasionally for about 12 hours a week 6 months of the year. They are charging me £600 a year for this. My lounge area is 25sq meters. I am paying the same amount as a bar owner who has a bar 3 times sizw as mine as is open 7 days a week. No one will help me. They are demanding I pay this. And my bar was closed last year due to a partner split. They are not responding to any of my emails other than invoices and threats from credit companies
horrible company
