What happens if you lose Creo due to a computer crash?

I have been a user of Creo and previously Pro Engineer for many years. In 2013 I was made redundant and purchased my own Creo2 software for £3000.0 so that I could now work from home.
All was fine until October 2025 when Microsoft loaded the last upgrade/security pack on my computer that made it crash.
The blue screen of death was daunting but eventually I managed to recover a lot of my downloaded software but not all.
I lost Creo2 which was quite crucial to me. This software was remotely downloaded from a UK supplier who no longer existed but via an invoice managed to track down a previous member of the team on LinkedIn who was working for another company.
I got in touch with this company and after a number of weeks I was informed that as I was an unsupported customer I would have to pay a connection fee of £710.0.
Through no fault of my own I feel let down by PTC that they want money from me to use software that I've already paid for!

I hope PTC will respond within a couple of weeks from now (28.03.2026) otherwise they will not only lose my custom but all of my University colleagues and business associates.

Support nightmare

I used mathcad 14 which is great. However the company replaced it with mathcad prime which is truly dreadful to drive. I can't now install mathcad 14 from disc on my new pc because it gives me a licence error. Trying to find a support email address is a nightmare since PTC constantly trying to offload you to faq boards or community support forums to avoid dealing with me. What a sad experience.

Buggy, old school 3d modelling.

I' don't like using CREO, is not fast, has many bugs and needs endless work-arounds for features that would be easy to implement. We have made so many mapkeys (macro's) to compensate for missing functionality. I've been an professional user for more the 10 years now.
Still, in 2025, old school pull down menu's keep showing up that should have been discontinued 15 years ago. (drawings, adding balloon, repeat regions etc). Also the old name 'ProEngineer'(replaced in 2010) keeps popping up in menu's and explorer map names, indicating that creo is not updated with much consideration for detail.
Some functions seem to get deliberatly worse; e.g. the rendering and placing textures and decals.
Creo is, compared to other 3D cad programs, harder to learn and it's hard to find creo schooled students (in the netherlands).
Creo is so counterintuitive; When I try to use a feature I haven't used for a year, I need a video-lesson to make it through. The lack of clear feedback/ error-debug is a big problem, especially for new users.
PTC is deliberatly keeping our company from choosing another reseller, even if that ones is much closer to us. Reseller often replies with; 'you have to buy another extension' not even offering a free period to try the desired feature. (and this in 2025?)

No private user would ever buy such a product, only corporate users that have no flexibility to change CAD-program.

We have suffered a business production environment outage due to the inability to get in touch with Vuforia and PTC for a billing issue.

Specifically emails were not answered, contact forms were not answered, calls and voicemails were not answered – whatsover. We are on a paid plan.
