We have been in business since 1983, originally as a well known retail outlets in Ambleside and Sheffield. Today our HQ and mail order warehouse is situated at Sandside near Milnthorpe. I ordered a sleep mat

I ordered a sleep mat, but mistakenly thought I would be able to collect it. So I needed to amend the order after I had placed it. I received excellent help and advice from Dave at Rock & Run, and my mistake was put right in no time at all. Sleep mat arrived a few days later. Pleasant, efficient and helpful., plus a good price.

Great customer service!

I ordered a few things that were on (really good) offer and got them sent to Peru. The delivery took a while longer than the 10 days estimated by Royal Mail (no fault of Rock+Run, that's the Peruvian postal service for you), but from placing my order, questions about VAT deductions, deciding what to remove because the order was too big for a "small package", wondering if it would arrive and then on arrival, David from Rock+Run answered me quickly and helped me out at each step. Thanks!

Great price and prompt delivery

I ordered a Bothy bag, the cheapest price I could find by some £50; after a bad experience with Sherwood Leisure I was a bit nervous placing an order but I wasn't disappointed: the bag arrived, as described, after 3 days. Fantastic.

No hassle - exactly as described! fast delivery

I shopped around a bit before I ordered from rock and run.
Your prices were very competive (if not the cheapest) with a free 2-3 day delivery time.
Everything (Climbing harness, Five tens approach shoes and ATC belay device) arrived as described
A polite gentleman on the phone when asked about shoe laces!

Great Website

I shopped around a bit for climbimg gear before finding it all on rockrun. The prices were very competative and the parcel arrived within 3 days. All the sizes were listed correctly and I kept all the stuff I bought, the website also has reviews of the items they sell and general website reviews. Positive experience I would definitely use then again.

Good, efficient service.

Bought a rucksack from them. It was reasonably priced and arrived on time. I then needed to return the bag. The return was smooth and my refund was issued swiftly. Will definitely used again as the whole process was very easy.

Pretty good, but expensive shipping

I've had a few orders with Rock+Run over the years. The product selection is usually good, the website is easy to use and the customer service is fine. My only small complaint would be that I feel the shipping options are expensive, there isn't really a cheap option for those of us that aren't in a rush to receive our goods and for the price you pay, shipping is actually pretty slow. But other than that, all good!

Just wasted an hour of my time

I have just spent an hour ordering various products from R&R only to have the payment page not load and then lose all the items from my cart - very frustrating..........

Second hand and falsely advertised.

I thought that I had bought a new Rab bivi made with event fabric as advertised on the rockrun site.
When the bivi arrived it wasn't made by rab but by integral designs and was a different material not event.
To make matters worse the bivi had been used by another customer returned and resold to me.
The material and pegs were muddy, the inside mesh was full of small dead flies and the sleeping area contained body hairs of unsavoury origin.
As it arrived one day before I flew to the alps I had no chance of obtaining a replacement from them in time and my budget did not stretch to going and buying another.
I had to call five times and send five emails until I could speak to the elusive David who handles customer services.
I explained the above predicament they had landed me in.
I had no alternative but to use the dirty bivi so demanded some sort of discount, after a bidding war their last offer was 25% discount which as they knew I had no choice but to grudgingly take.
I feel badly treated by this company who I should have in hindsight took to trading standards.
I have tried twice to leave a poor review on their site but it seems they do not put negative reviews up.
Hence my review here.
I will never use them again and would recommend others to take their business elsewhere to avoid disappointment.
Horrible experience, the scoundrels!

Hello Charlene,

Firstly we’re very sorry that you feel disappointed with the service and product you received. This is obviously not what we want to hear and we always try our best to resolve service or product issues to a point where we again have a satisfied customer. I think this is generally reflected both in the reviews on this site and our own website review partner Yotpo.

With regards to the points you have raised. We do not dispute the bivi was used, but as we explained this was as much a surprise to us as it was to you. We had purchased these as new from our supplier (Rab UK) and I’m sure this was merely an unintentional oversight on their behalf - a display model which had perhaps been put back into their general stock pool by mistake.

After receiving your various emails between 1pm and 3.30pm on the 5th of August, the day the bivi was delivered, our customer services representative spoke to you on the phone offering some solutions.

As you were going away the following day this meant that even though we were happy to supply a replacement and collect the defective bivi at the same point, we wouldn't have been able to do this within the timescale available. As such we offered a 30% retrospective discount on the bivi you had received which was accepted. This refund was processed at 3:35pm, also on the 5th August. We should also point out that we did offer to collect the item at a time convenient to you and provide a full refund, if you hadn’t been happy with the other solutions suggested.

In regard to your point about your product review not showing on our website. This was in no way a clandestine move on our part, it was merely that the reviews are displayed on the relevant product page and as the product had sold out and been disabled by the point you submitted the review it was no longer visible on our website.

Again may I convey our apologies for your disappointment and if you would like to discuss the matter further please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Outstanding after sales service!

I recently had a problem getting the correct replacement front points for Grivel Rambo crampons. The staff at Rock + Run took the problem in hand and went way beyond the normal call of duty to sort the problem for me. Many, many thanks from a very satisfied customer!

Excellent

Ordered a bunch of climbing gear (slings, carabiners, belay devices etc) from these guys. Had to make a modification to my order because I forgot to add something, they were very helpful. Items arrived very quickly, well packaged and exactly what I needed. Highly recommended.

Can't rate this company highly enough - great range of items, incredible prices, prompt delivery and fantastic customer service..really are the whole package!

Guide book

Ordered a guide book for Swiss bouldering areas from Rock + Run, even with international shipping it was shipped and received quickly. The guidebook exceeded my expectations and I look forward to ordering for Rock + Run in the future.
