Just bought BMW X5. Garry was very helpfull. Even can on bankholliday to show us the car.
Seamless and stress-free buying experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff was professional and welcoming.
Special thanks to Garry for being patient and answering all my questions without any "hard sell" pressure. They made the paperwork process quick and transparent.
If you’re looking for a hassle-free car buying experience, this is the place to go. 5 stars
Great Service. We bought our car almost a year ago now. We had an issue early on, and Gary was quick to get it sorted via the 12-week guarantee. I would go back and buy my next car from him.
I agree with the 2 previous reviews. Had similar problems which Gary didn't want to know about.
After having the car a short while I've found loads wrong with it.
I do NOT recommend buying from this company.
Although our experience with Shift Automotive was a little while ago now, my irritation at the experience compells me to still write this review.
Very unpleasant experience with this dealer. Although Gary was quite helpful with our car purchase from overseas, we feel he took advantage of the fact that we didn't buy locally from him, and had the car delivered, some 300 miles or so.
Specifically, the service history that the car was advertised as having never came into our possession, nor did we receive the documents for the 12-month-guarantee the car was supposed to come with. When we queried this with Gary directly after receiving the car, he claimed he had given the documents to the car delivery driver. The driver assured us he had never had them, and in contrast to Gary struck us as very trustworthy. The VR5 paperwork never arrived either.
The car interior also had some damage Gary never mentioned, despite our questions - glove box broken (has to remain locked so it doesn't swing open) and a broken hand grip handle or two. The car almost smelt of smoke/dog (poorly disguised by a car air freshener), had dog hair in it, and in general was not very clean.
Across a period of many months my husband or I tried chasing Gary up, either calling, or sending messages and he always had an excuse (he was on holiday and would do it when he was back, he didn't have the details - message him an email address and he would send the guarantee documents).
This became particularly pressing when - less than six months after buying the car - the clutch needing replacing. Whether this might have been covered under the guarantee we'll never know, as despite many attempts, Gary never sent the documents. We also eventually forked out for a new VR5, because - despite promising to do so - he never sorted that out either. The service history never turned up, and as a result lowers the value of the car (which we are currently in the process of selling...)
Overall, the car that we bought from Shift Automotive - though probably overpriced given the state it was in - is not too bad (although it drives well now, only after we have sunk a couple of thousand pounds into repairs) but we were not at all impressed by Gary at Shift Automotive's lack of integrity.
Shift automotive sold my daughter a car on the 12th January & within 2 days of having the car it started making a rattling noise underneath the gear box.
The car has been in the garage ever since ! I don’t even know where to start ….first of all whether it’s Gary’s refusal to reject car (Probably because he doesn’t have the cash to now give back as he’s blown it on his Ferrari on tick or his apparent £25k in bills he told us he pays each month. ) He has been rude and sexist to my daughter, telling her she’s emotional and then refusing to speak to her because she’s a women even though the car is in her name and then ringing her partner to discuss despite the fact the loan is in her name.
We have given Shift automotive numerous opportunities to change the car over 3 weeks ago to which they refused and then all of sudden that was an option last week when we said we want to return the car.
They have let my daughter drive the car despite it having a carbon monoxide leak promising that it was safe to use - knowing full well that she has ongoing medical issues and also being aware that the car was needed to use for her unwell puppy who needed specialist vet
The car was taken in for ‘repairing’ despite us not wanting the car anymore and when we went to collect the car to hold onto whilst we disputed the sale and tried to get the money back Gary advised her that she could not take the car - at this stage we contacted the police in order for them to release the car, which technically was still in her name!
I think the real cherry on the cake is that one of these ‘so called professionals’ have then spent their time putting my daughters details into sales website, accident claim requests, plastic surgeon’s consultants & letting sales, so she has received non stop calls, emails and texts with people trying to sell her stuff. Whilst we have no proof it’s them it seems a little bit of a coincidence that this has just started!
My daughter suffers with anxiety & stress and I can’t even put into words the amount of distress that Shift automotive have caused her, making her physically ill, not eating and sleeping as she is so stressed and worried with the threats she has received.
Under the consumer rights she is entitled to return the vehicle as it’s within 30 days of her purchase and the car is of an unsatisfactory quality, not as described and is not road worthy! Shift automotive have been issued with a letter, before action advising of a refund which, if not received will leave her no choice but to proceed to a small claims court.
