Slug and Lettuce Avis 

I am writing to formally complain about the Afternoon Tea with Cocktail or Prosecco for Two experience that I redeemed through Virgin Red for my wife's birthday.

I chose this experience based on the photographs and description displayed on the Virgin Red app. The promotional images clearly show a generous afternoon tea stand including two full burgers, two full sandwiches, scones and a selection of desserts and sweet treats. Based on this advertising, I reasonably expected to receive an experience similar to what was shown and promoted.

Unfortunately, the afternoon tea we received was significantly different from the images used to market the experience. Instead of receiving two burgers and two sandwiches, we were served one burger cut in half and one sandwich cut in half. The savoury selection was far smaller than advertised.

In addition, the promotional image prominently displays a variety of desserts and sweet treats on the top tier. However, no comparable dessert selection was provided to us. This was particularly disappointing as afternoon tea is expected to include both savoury and sweet elements, and the advertised desserts were one of the reasons we chose this experience.

While I appreciate that promotional photographs may differ slightly from the final presentation, the differences in this case were substantial. The quantity of food and the overall offering did not reflect what was shown in the advertising, leaving us feeling misled and disappointed.

This booking was intended to celebrate my wife's birthday, making the experience even more upsetting. What should have been a special occasion instead left us feeling that we had not received the experience that had been advertised and purchased through Virgin Red.

Went to slug and lettuce for a red letter afternoon tea in Plymouth yesterday when it arrived at first looked ok then looking closer at it the rocket and cheese was dried up the bottom the said roll was all wet and soggy the clotted cream best before date was the 26 not 27 th the scones were like concrete when this was pointed out to staff the manageress said cream was a batch number not use by date upon checking with manufacture it’s use by date then pointed out other issues with the food it had clearly been left out on the side was offered to be replaced but by that time our outing was ruined another member of staff even admitted it was crap forty five pound for rubbish feel the name slug and lettuce is aptly named even staff say it was poor

I went with my friends for a bottomless brunch. I was sober when i walked in and sober when i walked out. 10 drinks! Im not great with alcohol which is good because i dont think i had any! Even though i had 4 sea you laters, 3 tequila sunrises, a mimisa and 2 sex on the beach. Great customer service. Food pretty good.

The staff talking behind customer backs . Rude . If you dislike any customers please Dont !!! Discuss while customer are in earshot ! Not professional . Visited Corner house Nottingham.
Doubt if I Visit again . Could of chosen any other venue and in future will do . Spoilt the hen party atmosphere and left a bitter taste overall .
Drinks waited for , food was not as described had several party members with not what was on menu . Disappointed!!!!!!

This was the 2nd time we had come to enjoy a brunch and the 2nd time we have been poorly disappointed. We were seated on time but did not receive any drinks until 25 past the first hour of our 2 hour unlimited cocktails brunch. We were asked to pre order food which was still bought out an hour after we were seated! The older guy behind the bar was clearly very stressed and shouted at his staff who were simply doing their job. It was a disaster from the moment we arrived and it ruined the evening. The waffles and chicken was lack of waffles and chicken the food was not of a high standard and definitely not worth the price or wait. The service was saved by Daniel and another young lady but it will not be top choice again all we ever get is disappointment poor management is very clear here and our brunch was ruined would not recommend

Visited slug and lettuce in York. Staff let this bar down as don’t really care. Went to bar to order tia Mia and Pepsi barmaid was chatting to colleague not paying attention and drowned the tia Maria so had to order a double which cost £15 total rip off. Ordered food which I have to say was very good but male who served clearly didn’t want to be at work and we had to ask for simple condiments like salt.

Visited the Slug and Lettuce in Chester today with a buy a gift card , and must say we were given excellent service from a young man called Nathan nothing was too much for him , moved a few things around for us from the set menu which made our experience much the better , hope the company and manager realise how much of a credit he is to them , excellent service, food served prompt when ordered , though in fairness it was quite at the time.

Rachel pur sever was amazing went above and beyond for the 6 of us she was friendly helpful and fun and that made our experience even better

I went to the Slug and Lettuce chester today, for the bottomless brunch , its was great what the burgers and a few drinks the staff were very friendly, great atmosphere quick service. It was my 1st visit but certainly won't be my last looking forward to my next visit thanks to everyone for making it a great day

£9.45 for cold dry bagel equally cold single poached egg and scraping of avocado that tasted odd. Now have serious upset stomach Emails not going through Avoid at all cost

Liam and Harriet were wonderful. They took our request to order and save a birthday cocktail for our friend and serve when we were ready with our other drinks. Overall a friendly atmosphere

We had bottomless brunch on 31st july 2026, as we sat down we were introduced to carole who was looking after us. She explained everything and brought us prosecco with sparklers ln ice bucket. Carole was lovely, very friendly, we had 2 hours of cocktails, and a lovely meal. The only negative was the cocktails were a bit weak, but still nice. Had a lovely time for our friends birthday. 1 Star – Horrible food, atrocious service, and a manager who couldn't care less
If I could give zero stars, I would.
We used a voucher here yesterday and the experience was appalling from start to finish. The menu choices were extremely limited and basic. After waiting 45 minutes, our food finally arrived stone cold.
When we sent it back, they simply reheated the same plates, returning the food bone dry, overcooked, and completely ruined. I could only manage a couple of mouthfuls—it was so bad it left me feeling physically sick.
When we raised this, three separate members of staff completely ignored our concerns with pure apathy. Before leaving, we asked to speak to a manager. A young guy stepped forward claiming to be the manager, but his attitude was unbelievable. When asked directly if he actually cared about our experience, he literally just smiled at us.
This is a drinkers' pub, not a food venue, and they clearly have no standards for basic customer care. Completely ruined our day out. Avoid at all costs.

Although staff were polite on entry, there was no urgency to getting the lift working. The lift did not work and I relied on it to enter so I did not even get an experience of the food or anything.

Arrived at the time booked 13.00, for afternoon tea, this was pre booked .
Waited nearly half and hour to get served for drinks , waited for another 45 mins for the sandwiches and buns and cakes to arrive. We have to ask twice where the food was , the servers were good and tried their best. The food arrived we had booked for 10 people but there was a shortage of sandwiches, good job there was 9 eating .
Buns arrived and were burnt and sandwiches were lacking any filling. Scones were good ,brownies tasted weird very dry and not fresh at all.
To say we were disappointed is an understatement.
Concerdering this was pre booked , the wait was shocking.
to be given burnt food and non existent sandwiches was a smack in the face.
Would I recommend certainly not , it turned into an extremely stressful experience as my dad is a chef and was not happy.
What was ment to be a family get together turned into a very disappointing event.
Slug and lettuce need to do better with their kitchen staff and train them to actually cook to a decent standard .

Cocktails have no alcohol in them. Don't bother

We were disgusted at the service we received on 11 July time - 1916 by till receipt account 1634. She was rude and uninterested, made sloppy drinks that did not taste right, when we questioned it we got attitude and she even gave herself a tip somehow , don’t know how as we did not agree to one. The place was filthy dirty, empty glasses piled high, no one cleaning or even caring. Will not go to Richmond branch ever again. It’s fraud adding a tip for yourself.

I entered absolutely excited after my cousins having been here and asking me to join them. The bartender was sweet and the atmosphere, I must say is quite welcoming and comfy.
HOWEVER, paying £13.95 for 2 cocktails and receiving 3/4 glass of crushed ice, the rest in orange juice, something red and I'm still waiting to taste or even feel a tingle of alcohol. I don't expect half bottle of rum for £13.95, but this is literally like being robbed.

My friend and I visited the Durham location for a little catch up over bottomless brunch. our server, Josh, could not have possibly done more for us! He very kindly let us sample a cocktail we had never tried before which is above and beyond any service ive EVER experienced before. I hope and pray he is recognised for his wonderful service and work he does for slug and lettuce!!!

Visited the Gunwharf Quays pub. We had a platter for two and it was terrible. The ham was completely burnt. The staff were not bothered and no one asked if our meal was OK. It's a shame that I can't provide a photo to show how bad it was.
