The Children's Allergy Avis 

I would highly recommend Dr Costa to anyone seeking a consultant paediatrician in this field. We went to see him because we suspected our 2 year old daughter had a peanut allergy. When I first met him my first impression was that he was polite, friendly and really relaxed. He was very good at communicating with my daughter and was happy for her to play during the appointment. When he confirmed that our daughter did have a severe peanut allergy he was excellent at explaining everything we needed to know in a clear manner and he was happy to answer all the questions I had.

Dr Costa was really excellent.

I worry sometimes with private health that they'll give unnecessary treatments. But Dr Costa refered us to a dietician as this suited our requirement.

Dr Costa was excellent, testing my daughter for a number of legitimate issues that the NHS had not dealt with over the years. The skin (review won't accept the word!) test and consultation was very thorough, and a report followed very quickly in the day or 2. He has a lovely manner about him, and eased her nervousness, listened carefully to what the problems were and asked many questions. He also discussed her asthma care, again handled badly by the NHS over the years, and suggested that she be placed in an asthma clinic. Very good experience, and I would highly recommend.

I was hugely impressed by Dr Costa. His explanations were thorough, he explored every possible cause of my daughter’s health issue and his manner was courteous and kind. I highly recommend him.

We contacted Liz to arrange an appointment with Dr Costa for our 8 month old baby. There was great communication from the beginning and Liz was able to arrange an appointment for us at short notice.
Dr Costa was thorough, honest and able to answer all our questions. We gained the answers we were after in the appointment through a skin test which was a relief to have. We felt heard, understood and more confident with our babies allergies.

Very informed and finally someone who understands what the problems with allergies can cause for a child.

Dr Jose Maia E Costa is a great doctor and goes out of his way to get to the bottom of something and come up with a solution. It was great to talk to someone who listened and asked thoughtful questions and then explained everything clearly so it was understood by myself and more importantly my 7 year old son. It was also a huge relief to finally speak to someone who could help us; I am ever grateful for that. Thank you very much Dr Costa!

Dr Costa is an excellent doctor, friendly, knowledgeable and extremely thorough. He listened intently to my daughter’s medical history and her current symptoms. He was quick to action tests and referrals. I wish she had seen him much sooner. I feel confident and reassured she is under his care. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending him.

Dr Costa has given me answers to questions I have been asking about my 2 year old almost all of his life. I can’t thank him enough and he went above and beyond to help me. He was kind and not at all judgemental of my parenting (unlike my GP). His advice on cradle cap literally solved a problem I’ve been battling for 2 years in a matter of days. And my sons allergies are finally under control. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

In our first consultation with Dr Costa we found him incredibly knowledgeable. He went through every detail, asking many questions to make sure he had as much information as possible. He explained everything, from why the tests were necessary and what he was looking for. We felt in safe hands. As her person he is friendly and welcoming and again made us feel in safe hands and we are sure he will find the right diagnosis.

An amazing experience, before I had this appointment I had been through the NHS system time and time again and kept being discharged with very little reassurance and had almost convinced myself my Child's symptoms were exaggerated by me or I was making her worse. One hour with Dr Costa and I could have cried with relief (and I very nearly did!) to have someone that understood everything I was taking about, managed my concerns and gave me helpful supportive advice was a whole weight off my shoulders. I cannot thank him enough for his time, kindness and expertise that has put my mind at rest and reassure me. I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about referring their child to not hesitate as they will not regret it

The consultation went very well, I felt listened and my daughter was very happy at all times. Dr Costa is a very good pediatrician and patient, he will explain everything that it needs to, answer to any questions and give advice.

Our first consultation with Dr Costa was a fantastic experience. He listened with understanding and shared a great deal of knowledge and experience about our daughter’s complex condition. He was very clear about what investigations need to be done next in order to get to a point where we can improve her quality of life. During the 45 minutes appointment Dr. Costa has given us all his attention and professional experience. He is very candid with children and I highly recommend him for anyone that has children with allergies.
