Cornish Bakery Gloucester Quays.
Coffee not hot, cream served in a small pot/dish — at least 50% less than the supplied Cornish Cream tubs, scones on shop window ledge ( not on plates) and also half the size, pastries layout over loaded. Shortage of pasties due to oven breakdown - was fixed after arrival. I think the area/regional manageress in attendance.
Store showing lower standards since previous manageress moved to new store/shop. ( Yes as a Cornishman I’ve used the Quays store for many years)
The Cornish Bakery Winchester
We go here regularly for coffee and the coffee is lovely. This time I had a slice of quiche. The quiche was cold and just full of egg and peas, nothing else. I had one mouthful. It tasted horrible. I handed it back to the young man that served me and he was very apologetic. He passed on my comments and nobody came over to speak to me or offer my money back. Very disappointed.
good
Food is amazing, one of my go to’s for lunch. coffee is really nice, the staff are always really friendly and helpful whenever i go there. not a single fault <3
‘Almond Croissant’ experience in Hereford. While the pasties from the Cornish…
While the pasties from the Cornish Bakery in Hereford and Gloucester are good, today’s experience in Hereford has cast doubt in our minds about ever buying your sweet pastries again.
My wife and I enjoy French Almond Croissants made with real almonds, almond paste, marzipan and almond essence and light flaky pastry.
On walking past your shop I saw numerous pastries which had just been baked. I asked if they were almond croissants, as they looked very appealing, and was assured they were and I bought one. At £3.80 each I had high expectations. The two girls behind the counter were very pleasant, friendly and obliging, warning me that it was very hot.
Sadly this was not an almond croissant as we know it. When cooled sufficiently to eat, it was a soggy pastry case with an unknown variety of jam in it, There was an initial hint of almond flavouring, and a few sliced almonds on the surface gave the appearance of the genuine article.
Most of all the main flavour was really unpleasant, being metallic or as my wife suggested, fishy. We both found it frankly very unpalatable. It has left a lasting taint in my mouth and palate which has not gone after 6 hours, and a meal. It might be the excessive raising agent used, or contaminating oil or fat. I would be interested to know the actual ingredients if they are available.
I initially did not want to write a negative review as it reflects badly on the staff who were working hard. The food displayed reflected pride in their work and could not be faulted. However a phone call to discuss this with the manager, in mid afternoon, was not successful.
I would be grateful for a reply addressing my concerns, from the head office. Thank you.
Lovely staff, great coffee!
I come into the Taunton branch regularly for a coffee and pastry. All the staff are super friendly (i was served by Sarah today).
Great coffee and the best pastries!
Dirty and awful food
In street where it's card only, which tells me the HQ doesn't trust the staff with cash, none of those working today looked over 20 either so it's not like they have fourteen year olds on the till. The tables were dirty and its awful service. Went in for something to eat and had a cheese and bacon croissant, the bacon was burnt, the cheese wasn't melted and the croissant was still raw, I have no idea how someone who works in a kitchen screws up that badly.
Better seating arrangements needed for customers
Better system needed for seating as you can end up having ordered with nowhere to sit. Many customers just walk in and reserve seats without having ordered when there are long cues. This means people ar the front who have ordered can end up with no where to sit. Perhaps needs a polite sign not to reserve seats until you have purchased food. Customers even reserving seats with items of clothing despite being at the back of the cue. I am sure if there was a sign people would not do this although I understand the elderly and disabled would need to sit.it was the Stamford branch I went to.
Bourton on the water Cornish bakery
The team led by Leanne at Bourton on the Water provide an outstanding service. The setting while a little rough around the edges is in a stunning location. The coffee and pastries/pasties never fail to deliver. Leanne is an amazing leader and employee who cares about her role and the customers satisfaction whether they are staying in or taking away from the Cornish Bakery. Honestly both Leanne and the staff deserve higher than 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
No cash is bad. Great coffee but not value.
Norwich and Salisbury branches: Not taking cash is a red flag, it's for staff benefit not customers. Never seen worse queues because of cash as claimed.
Union coffee was great choice and quality. Mostly served very well but not that consistent. Maybe staff need some more training. Strangers of Norwich are great barista trainers.
Prices are over inflated but you do get great coffee. Food has suffered shrinkage making overall value for money worsen.
Unpleasant experience
Visited the Cornish Bakery at Abbey Churchyard Bath before my walking tour. Never again. Asked where I could find the ladies toilet. The unpleasantly given response was “go to Marks & Spencer’s down the road” ??? In the meantime my companions had placed an order. The coffee which eventually was served was lukewarm and so bitter it was barely drinkable. Left my coffee and went to the nearest place with toilet facilities and pleasant staff- Costa coffee

Site at Gunwharf Quays portsmouth - pop up in centre square whilst new store is being constructed, v busy day non stop queue we went late afternoon and the team were somehow still friendly and welcoming and made me a great flat white. Would have liked to leave a tip but apparently against policy so they cheerfully asked for a review instead so here it is! Thank you 🤩

The review is for the Cornish Bakery in Clarks Village Somerset.
Service here is poor, but credit to some of the staff they are trying. When one of the employees called back to who seemed like the manager, she came out arms folded and rudely asked what did he want.
I would add that the tables were a mess, no one came out to tidy them especially on a very hot day.
Coffee was also too hot and just tasted bitter.
Shame as it is well placed within the shopping village but brings the whole place down.

Popped into the Lymington Cornish bakery today and was greeted by beautiful service and food from Deni & Theo!
Couldn’t be happier.
If I didn’t live in Essex I’d be in there every week!
A great place to grab a snack and drink.

Had a really lovely lunch at Cornish Bakery in Bude. Pasty was excellent and the ham hock roll was very tasty. Followed by a really yummy lemon and fruit pastry. My favourite is actually Cornish pudding but have to try something else from time to time. The staff including Audrey and James are very welcoming and friendly. Love visiting this cafe.
Really nice staff
Really nice staff , lovely location...could cornish bakery have the old type of vegan veg pasties please, the root veg isn't as yummy. Thank you for considering my request.
Lack of friendliness
Food is fine, coffee is nice. You don't always go to a cafe for those things, a smile a polite bit of chat and a warm ambiance are every bit as important. I won't be back.
Amazing croissants served by friendly staff
I have visited Lymington twice from IOW and tgis is my "go to" coffee shop. They do the most amazing croissant that has a Nutella like filling. I have no idea of the calories and tbh I really don't care. The staff are lovely but Luke went above and beyond today as I had my Mum with me. We both have limited mobility and kindly helped being our food/drinks to the table. Can't wait to visit again and if ever you decide you want another branch, please consider IOW

Baked ham roll Gretna.
£5.40 to eat in.
Just a disgrace
Asked for another and it a pitiful replica of its brother.
Don’t go near. Just another half hearted effort to sell a product that’s not fit for consumption.
