Trade Me Avis 

After years of using Trade Me with no issues, the last trade was fraudulent and the police said this was not unusual.

I went to Trademe, the police, and bank as they suggested and the result... Trademe, the police and the bank all say they can do nothing.

Apparently the Trademe account was taken over, the email account was taken over and the bank account was taken over and the money was sent from the receiving ANZ account overseas within minutes of it landing and withdrawn there in hours (from what Kiwibank advised in their recovery attempt).

Trademe is a nightmare: selling, buying, customer service. If you want a really bad experience try it, and find out for yourself.

site has been overrun with scammers and foreign sellers, people lying about item details, removing bids to make private deals off the site, and even someone selling an item that was reported stolen on facebook and trademe doesnt care about any of it as long as they get their cut of sales

Blatant lies about about condition of product. Item has little to no resale value.
I sent screenshots of item pictures & sellers response to a very specific question which was falsely answered and all I got was automated responses telling me nothing.
Their online help centre states "If your item has turned up and it's not as described, or hasn't turned up at all – we're here to help.

Check out our tips to get things sorted with the seller directly. If that's not working, file a report and our team will step in."

No help and no 'team' stepping in. Total BS

If I could give this no stars I would. After years of using Trade Me with no issues, my account was deactivated with no communication about why. I completed 4 logs on the website over 3 months to try and get customer support and heard nothing. There is no contact number to call. The chat bot loops it's incorrect answers to my problem over and over again.

Customer service is non existent. What a disappointment Trade Me has become.

While I'm sure the majority of transactions go perfectly because they are executed by two honest parties, Trademe fails miserably when things don't go as planned. The dispute process is automated showing that the corporate monster is gobbling your cash and doesn't really care about the customer at the end of the day. I guess you can sell your stuff on... wait for it... Facebook.

I and 8 others were ripped off by a single seller, trademe don't give a crap!Waiting for over a month, told to wait longer, crap service, don't buy, they offer ZERO buyer protection! You are absolutely crazy to buy on this site! They don't care about customers, only their commission! Disgusting treatment when someone rips you off! DON'T TRUST THIS SITE!

Why do I have to give 1 star? What a thieving rip off steaming great tu*d of a website. The owners should be lynched

If you are thinking about using their services, it is not a smart choice. Keep your distance to prevent any possible monetary losses. A few weeks ago, an internet review led me to C al mo!s hub', and ever since then, my experience has been nothing short of extraordinary.

I got scammed out of $800 from a hacked account, the seller’s account had 100% positive feedback and the member was authenticated. The Lego item I purchased was non existent, Trademe completely washed their hands of it because Ping or Afterpay were not used (also clearly not a option from this scammer) Trademe is now completely unsafe for the purchaser, absolutely appalling platform.

We are running business and have to deal with TM as unnatural monopoly. Dont like them for extremely high and ever increasing fees and non existent customer service. In fact zero stars would be a fair rating

Excessive commissions and forces users to use only ping payment which charges a high commission as well. Predatory tactics.
The rest of the world have incredible user friendly marketplaces.
This is the reason why New Zealand relies heavily on Facebook marketplace unlike the rest of the world.

They use some sort of Bad Cheap Software AI that locks word search in to one section, e.g. vespa. will only give you items in motorcycle, when there is many other areas in can be in (Clothing, Assessories, etc...) . I am now starting to shop at stores directly as can not trust Trade me any more

No price range filter when searching for cars? You must be kidding me ...

I moved from Blenheim in Marlborough to Levin in the North Island. I tried to change my address on Trade me. I did this several times only to find it would not change it still appeared as Marlborough, I contacted a human at Trade me and she said my had been changed. She said she changed it again to Levin and it was now showing live on the auction. When I checked My
trade me again it was still unchanged and I rang back. She said it was showing as Levin on the auction site. I finally sold the item at a good price, only to find the buyer had been shown pick up was from Marlborough in the south island. The change was never made successfully despite being told it had been by the operator in Trade Me. Distressing to the buyer, and to me! Will never use Trade me again. A complete waste of time.
Post script. I discovered the winner of the auction put on an auto bid and never checked how it ran so would not have seen my answers to questions about pick up change to Levin. Not altogether a trade me cock op but anyone should be aware that auto bid is entirely at their risk

Horrific experience now, the fees are ridiculous, i hope Facebook Market destroys Trademe, the garbage drop ship flooding from China, terrible support, no loyalty to TM anymore.

Since trade me was purchased by an Australian Co. it has slowly but steadily deteriorated. There are now heaps of Australian sellers entering trademe and breaching the Fair Trading Act but Trademe does nothing at all and allows their participation to continue. NZ needs a locally owned buy sell exchange format. These Australian based companies are sticking together and screwing kiwis!!!!

I tried to access my account to advise someone that I had sold my item and to leave a feedback notice, but when I tried to log in, this is what it said:- "You're connecting from a suspicious location.
If you're using a VPN or anonymization service, please disable it and try connecting to Trade Me again." Up until recently, I have not had any difficulty logging in, but for some reason, TradeMe is not allowing me to log in without disabling my personal VPN, which I am not willing to do as mine can only be deleted and not simply disabled. When contacting TradeMe, (unsure of the exact date in November) they said in so many words, that they were trying to keep my account safe and secure, but still didn't fix the issue. I am done with them, and would cancel my account if I could actually log in

Trade Me's customer service is non existent... if you can get hold of them. Their web site says "contact us", but they don't provide any means to contact them, just an automated menu system of possible answers that goes round and round, and doesn't provide a means of contact.
If on the otherhand if there's a problem from their end, they send you an email... and never reply to your responses. Worst site in NZ by far.
There are far better online platforms that provide real customer satisfaction than Trade Me.
We need Ebay in NZ, so we can show Trade Me how bad they are at customer service.

SCAMMERS! Been using trademe for 2 years had good feedback at 100% no negative reviews, then sent out an item a couple of weeks ago that got lost through nz post(for the first time ever this has happened), sent trademe the tracking details and emails from nz post that were investigating. Next minute trademe “ping” are trying to take out the full amount of the item PLUS fees(which their fees are ridiculously high anyway) in other words made me send the item using their courier services, now trying to take my money for the item that I no longer have. When I have tried to ask for help or explanation or anything I get no response! They just reverse the funds out of your account whenever they feel like it with no evidence or proof of anything. Thieves. After reading through all of these comments on here & other websites about trademe I realise alot of people have gone through the same thing where they just reverse funds out of your account without explanation and you can never get through to them because they don’t answer your emails and don’t have a customer service number ONE BIG FAT SCAM DO NOT USE TRADEME!
