That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I would give zero stars if possible. Had an awful experience last year with Vets Now. And their costs were astronomical. Eye watering! Long waiting time. Vet missed crucial injury upon examination. And after I'd settled my bill (I had challenged their costs due to awful experience and only paid for medication at the time) I was sent a letter from a debt collection agency which I was told was "an admin error" even though I'd paid the outstanding balance the day after resolution. It's the nearest out of hours vet in my area so they have you over a barrel. I received a small financial gesture upon complaining. I hope I don't have to use their services again. Maybe next time I'll have a better experience in which case I'll leave a good review. The case is now closed.

£349.00 for a 2min consultation, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You are a burden to animal lovers!

Made a complaint over 50 days ago chasing multiple times, disgusting service, disgusting lack of care, monopoly. I've put in a gdpr request to then send this all to the RCVS as this seems to be the only way now.
Edit the reply is to contact you, I have 9 times!!

What I said had happened to my cat was not reflected on the notes. I didn’t find either staff friendly. The bill wasn’t given to me or explained just pay it.
What would help is why I am being charged the amount and explain.

I recently had to take my dog to this out-of-hours vet as she was crying and clearly in distress. The visit cost £470, (£350 call out fee) which covered a blood test and a visual examination. I accepted this and happy to pay, given I was expecting an expert to determine why my dog was unwell.
Despite this, the vet did not notice that my dog’s belly was enlarged, which the following day, my veterinary nurse friend noticed and my regular vet identified afterwards.
The out-of-hours vet told me that it could be either something stuck in her stomach or gastroenteritis, and advised me to see my normal vet the next day.
Unfortunately, my regular vet quickly determined that she had a tumour, and we had to put her to sleep, which the emergency vet had completely missed.
I feel extremely disappointed and let down by the level of care provided, especially given the high cost. £470 for a misdiagnosis and missed signs of a serious condition feels unacceptable. The service gave me false reassurance that nothing major was wrong.
I believe a refund or reimbursement is warranted, (I have not asked as I don't expect they refund on poor service) as I paid a significant amount for what turned out to be incorrect and inadequate care.
UPDATE : As per your request, I have emailed with the information.

Fantastic vet, who was very reassuring and very helpful, as was the assistant vet on reception. We left with medication for our puppy who is making a quick recovery and we can't thank them enough.

Our feisty liitle Jack Russell was attacked by a much larger dog that had been left off the lead and did not have a muzzle by an irresponsible owner, Our little fellow died from his injuries that night, although when we took him to Vets Now I was sure he could have been saved.
The bill they managed to rack up in about 4 hrs reached nearly £1,200. That's pretty much what we paid for him as a pedigree puppy. My insurer would only pay about one third of the rates for labour quoted in their invoice, by VetsNow, which left me footing most of the bill.
I agree that for many people having an out of hours vet is a good thing, but honestly I feel that Vets Now took advantage of my grief to rack up the bill as much as possible.

Able to see vet very quickly following a phone call. Vet was very thorough and helpful in examining our dog. Explained matters well and reassured us.
The fee charged is very high but understandable as out of hours.

When I called the call was answered promptly; I was given an appointment straight away for my dog; we did not have to wait more than a few minutes on arrival; the receptionist was very kind and made us feel relaxed; Brian the nurse was wonderful, reassuring and well informed; Selena the vet was also wonderful, very well informed and helpful and reasuring. I was told I could call inn the night if I needed to find out how my dog was. In the morning when I went to collect my dog again all went smoothly and without a wait. And the most important point is they made her better! This is the second time I have taken my dog to this vet; the results has been brilliant.

Really quick, helpful and kind team at a very anxious time! We attended as an out of hours emergency and were seen quickly and treatment took place as soon as possible. Thank you!

Quick and easy access with choice of two vets. Seen very quickly and vet was friendly and allowed my cat time to decompress and explore the room. Treatment and advice given helpful.

Had to visit the emergency vet with my dog, and the two guys on duty, Bryan on Reception, and Tom the vet, could not have been more helpful and comforting. They didn't keep us waiting too long, even though I hadn't called ahead, and they reassured me that my boy would be fine after treatment (they think he had eaten something 'rogue' on his afternoon walk). I was a complete mess when I turned up, but Bryan in particular was able to calm me down - and even when my dog weed all over their floor/worktop - and my shorts, due to him not having control of his bladder for a while, they kept saying 'It's fine, it doesn't matter'.
When I collected him the next morning, Bryan was really thorough about how I sorted the insurance claim. All in all, a fantastic experience - albeit one which I hope not to have to repeat!

We had an emergency, I called my Vets who transferred me to Vets Now due to it being out of hours. I had a call with Vets Now they scheduled me to head to there nearest practice right away. When I arrived I was told it could be a long wait, and they had no idea how long it might take and I might consider going somewhere else, if the emergency was not so urgent I would have walked away but I feared my dog could die in car, I stressed the urgency and was then seen. This whole experience was way more stressful (on top of an already stressful moment with my dog so ill). Why did Vets Now not check ahead with the practice before booking me in - and why was I "booked in " if the surgery is over run. I spent £1450 on overnight stay for my dog for blood tests and checks - the practice seemed short of staff and very over stretched. I am looking into alternatives as I don't trust Vets Now in hour of need.
