Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We went to the Vets Now at the Vets for Pets clinic on County Road South on a Sunday (bank holiday weekend). We phoned the helpline and had to spend several minutes giving details about our pet, which is nerve-wracking when you just want to get on your way and have your pet seen to as soon as possible, but did not take that long before we were directed to the clinic. Luckily it was fairly quiet, we had to wait maybe 20 mins for the vet to be free. If the problem had been urgent I hope they would have moved faster, or at least looked to see if it was urgent/the animal was in pain... presumably they would have known the severity from the phone conversation, but it is not reassuring for an anxious owner to sit and wait when they don't know what's wrong or if it's serious. Having the receptionist/nurse take a quick look to reassure the owner it wasnt something needing immediate attention might not be a bad idea...
We then waited maybe an hour for blood testing to be done, which was good for peace of mind.
The basic consultation was £302.50, which we were pre-advised about on the phone. It seems really expensive but I can understand it costing a lot to keep staff and hospital equipment available 24/7 without knowing how busy it will be.
The vet was nice, listened and explained things well and seemed to care. Unfortunately there wasn't much she could do other than tests as our pet had some kind of fit (we thought a stroke at the time). She advised us to monitor her, take her back if it happened again that day and consult our regular vet.
So overall the vet was good.

I rang emergency number, the lady took all my details and directed me to the nearest available clinic, where my dog was thoroughly checked over, given medication and advice. Very quick service and response. Very satisfied with the speed and professionalism of all involved and Max is now recovering happily at home.

The telephone helpline directed me to my nearest Vets Now, which happened to be my local vets premises. The receptionist welcomed us in a pleasant manner. The vet very quickly identified my dogs ailment and gave advise on our best course of action. She administered an injection and my dog reacted well to the situation.

Quick treatment for my dog in an emergency. Only downside is the cost, an arm and a leg

Swift efficient attention. Although the cost of the visit was too high, we are pleased that the facility was there.

Absolutely amazing vets.... My cat came home with an injury to his paw so I took him to vets now in Hull and the staff on shift where amazing. My cat doesn't really like people and the vet was patient and calm. I was in and out within 10 minutes with the medication my cat needed.

Vet and veterinary nurses were amazing when we went in as an emergency the other night. What let the rating down was being unable to get through to them on the telephone and afterwards the complication of claiming through my insurance when the practice was not recognised on the system. I understand that this is because they were not working from their usual premises but this all massively added to my stress at a very difficult time. To have been told to put the postcode in of their old address and not the one we visited when filling out the insurance claim forms would have helped massively so I hope that this review can help others visiting Vets Now Hull when Park street vets is closed overnight.

I brought my dog Tallulah in sat night because she was poorly ....she hadn't been eating and was having mini seizures in front of the vet ...he said her temp wasn't normal, but proceeded to inject her with a painkiller which sent her into a some kind of trance/stroke like seizure then sent us home ....she died the Sunday , yesterday! I'm absolutely heartbroken heart is shattered.
This vet sent us home after £330 bill ...for what ? I hoped for a better outcome, not the devastating one I got

Seen promptly. Given good directions on how to get there. Pleasant vet and office staff.

Réponse de Vets Now - Hull
Vets was very thorough and listened to our worries with sympathy.
The only fault was the charge of £302.00 just to be seen. I know you have to charge for "out of hours" but this seems a bit excessive.

Highly recommend,
My youngest cat was quite poorly and terrified the vet was absolutely fabulous with her 💗(obviously had the magic touch)
Lovely friendly staff and waiting room

The vet who saw us was excellent in both the way he responded to our dog's condition and to us. He gave us detailed information to help us understand why he was administering the treatments and how Mutphy was responding.
The whole experience made a difficult situation the best it could be in the circumstances with the all staff showing sensitivity and kindness

Réponse de Vets Now - Hull
Very efficient and polite everyone was very professional for an out of hours vet practice
It would be better to have my local practice in Bridlington to do out of hours in stead of travelling 30 miles to Hull and then there is the cost of £330 for the consultation and one injection

Réponse de Vets Now - Hull
Good interaction from staff, shown to a clinical room to await the vet consultation.
