Not a great experience
Not a great experience. Went for our honeymoon. Messaged in advance about the occasion. Found the room in the state of the vids and images. It was actually really sad seeing as we’d come off the back of our wedding to a hotel literally covered in hairs, stains and food stains etc.
Receptionists we’re nice about it but offered no solutions. Eventually I decided to book a different hotel. The reception team, as nice as they were, said they couldn’t refund the city tax or the room rate for either nights we were booked.
After I had booked a new taxi and room, I told reception that they could’ve at least offered to clean the room or give us a different room. They then said there were no other rooms available but the cleaners would be coming in the morning and they could clean it for us then. Not the best solution but bless them they were young and a bit out of their depth!
So we went to a different hotel. Had a great stay. The new hotel immediately upgraded us for free when we told them about our situation. So all in all we still had a great trip thanks to the new hotel.
The location of the old hotel seemed cool. It was near a street where you can see the Eiffel Tower which looked special. The actual hotel is down a side road though and the room didn’t have a view like that. So I can’t speak too much on the location. Personally, I liked our new hotel which had a view of the Arc de Triumph and was quite central.
I’m now back home trying to get a refund. The hotel are telling me that we could’ve stayed in their suite. But this wasn’t offered at the time so it’s a little late now! They’re very polite over email but are essentially saying that they won’t refund us because we booked through booking.com which was hosted by another company called Agoda. It’s all a little confusing. To me, they have the equivalent $600-$700 which is what I spent so they could just refund me it. Then they could go through the booking company they partner with instead of me having to do it. But hey. They say they can’t do that.
I’ve spoken with both travel agencies and they’ve said I have to go to the hotel directly to get the refund, then the hotel send me back. Not a great experience all round. Wasting my time and money.
All in all, wouldn’t really recommend. It was really dirty so it makes me think they don’t manage the team too well.
If it was clean, maybe I’d say yes stay for a night or two if you want a cheap room for work or something. But if you’re thinking it’s going to be special, it’s really not. I would liken the room we stayed in to a premier inn or travellodge in the UK. You’re not going to walk in and say “wow”. You’re going to walk down a side street and say “where is it” then “oh ok.. this is it”
P.S. the email person, when I told them that I would be documenting my experience messaged me saying “While we understand your frustration, we would like to emphasize that threatening defamation on internet is not the most productive approach for resolving this matter. We believe that working together in a spirit of cooperation can lead to a more satisfactory resolution.” I said that in the spirit of cooperation, they could refund me and then contact the booking agency themselves!
