Excellent venue, lovely vibe but the let down was happening during a family wedding sit down meal. Serving priority wasn’t organised, very messy. Possible due to short staff. Main meal that was serve of chicken, wasn’t satisfying. Some meals and desserts on tables was missing. Very chaotic serving

Where to start? Made our booking 21/04/2022. That said on check in we were given a dowdy disabled room that had see better days. I went back to reception and the lovely receptionist, Looby, made a few changes and we got an acceptable room. This shouldn’t have happened as we had booked over a year in advance.
We had pre booked a dinner booking for 7:30pm and this is where the problems really started. We both ordered pie and we’re told - not available. We then both ordered burgers, 10 minutes later we’re told - not available! This is by now 45 minutes of messing around. So I’m sitting at our table looking online to see where we might be able to gat a food delivery from. Answer - nowhere. We decided on two bowls of chips. Not the dinner I had envisaged but by this time losing the will to live. We were then offered a surf and turf dish that the chef would create especially which was declined. At 8:55pm one bowl of chips were delivered and a platter of steak and prawns. Not requested, not required. At this point the waitress has become aggressive when we said that we didn’t want a plate of steak that was dripping in blood. Another bowl of half cooked chips were produced that were dripping in fat. We had to ask twice for ketchup. No salt or vinegar were offered. We then went onto desert. Thankfully menu choices were available together with a black & white coffee. There was a big play made of pouring sauce over a chocolate bomb?? Not sure why. It did nothing. Very rich and sweet and not very pleasant. This whole fiasco took over two hours on a Tuesday evening. We have had better meals at a hungry horse for a third of the price with more choice.
Wednesday breakfast - dire. Cheap sausages, fatty bacon. Sourdough bread that when toasted turned to cooked concrete. Again very oily. Everything fried.
On the Thursday morning we had breakfast baps. These were passable but again brioche type bread. No normal bread. Tip to the chef - when trying to serve pretentious food, you need really, really good quality ingredients. The upshot is, from the road, this place looks amazing. Look under the surface and you see that the place needs a damn good clean and leaves a lot to be desired. Not everything that glitters is gold. Had we have been staying longer, we would have eaten just down the road at a different eatery. Or checked out. Best thing about the place is Looby, who couldn’t do enough to help and is brilliant at customer care.

My entertainment company was booked to do a wedding there last week and what an amazing venue. Would wholeheartedly recommend to all couples

* Easy Access
* Great disco lights fitted in the ceiling to supplement my own
* Great drinks
* Good atmosphere

Hope we are booked there for future functions

This used to be a great place to stay. There is a very bad smell of untreated sewage that you can smell in your room. The hotel try to disguise with strong smelling perfume. I will not be back!

Rather a shocking outcome to my 60th birthday celebration with this establishment. My wife booked us into “the Snug” and the 6 of us, including my two boys and their wives had a wonderful few hours. The service was good and friendly, but unbeknownst to us we were unpopular with one of the waitresses for some reason. I have to say the food was not good; over-fried fish and chips. After the meal my sons an I decided to stay on the bar, and the ladies decided to go home.
The three of us were perhaps speaking too loudly at time and Pierre, the guy in charge asked us to keep it quiet. It wasn’t clear if someone had complained or not, but we became quieter in our speech. Tried to order another round of drinks and Pierre refused to serve us any more drinks. Asked why he said he doesn’t have to give a reason. Asked to speak to the manager he said he was the manager. Obviously getting irritated I suggested if he won’t serve us any more, then I don’t have to pay the bill, whereupon he asked one of the waitresses to call the police !
So we waited around for the police, intrigued to see what he would claim against us. The police duly arrived, and now it seems that our discussions included the topics of”rape” and “child molestation”. Well, we did discuss a wide variety of topics throughout the day, but none of these claimed words formed any part of any discussion.
Complete waste of the police’s time and completely ruined the ending of what was otherwise a really enjoyable day. Very confused as to what sparked the “Manager” Pierre’s obvious dislike of us, which apparently started during the meal in the Snug, unless it was anything to do with us being the only non-white patrons of the bar and restaurant. Will make sure this farcical and possibly racist treatment of me and my family gets out to the various social media outlets.
