The last time I checked free didnt…

The last time I checked free didnt require paying money. Its legal scaming, first they say free when it clearly isnt then they want me to pay for info that doesnt exist. I found the info and there is no owner name but if I ask "free" YouMail it says there is one and I have to pay to see it... then comes the big suprise- sorry, no name but thx for your money.

i used the 'free' version for some months. every day i got 4 or more spam calls. none were blocked. i never upgraded as it appears to be useless. so i switched to another call blocker (free version) and i haven't had a single spam call since. zero. makes me question what youmail really did....they sure didn't block spam.

It was a disaster from the start. Confusing and blocking everything which is not good when your a business! Upgraded and still couldn't get any phone support. This app sucks! Do not get it. Waste of time and they won't reimburse your money!

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. They advertise a free trial but it's not. They charge you, refuse a refund and then can only be contacted via email but you have to immediately respond to verify a code or you get nowhere. SCAM

Misled

I wanted a 2nd number and what they advertised is a joke.
I get spam calls from blocked numbers, personal calls from my phone contacts rerouted to youmail rather than thru my carrier. I swipe to not accept a call and it will either keep ringing after its been swiped no answer or I can't swipe it to stop ringing. It has caused only problems and I had to pay for it. Wonder how my cancellation will go?

Blatant hypocrisy - getting spammed by a company promising to filtre it for you

I would like to add my voice to the litany of dissatisfaction expressed in the reviews before this one. The phrase "I didn't get YouMail spam blocker only for that company to fill the space with their spam instead!" Quite so - that thing that companies do - ring 50 people at once and if one of the other call recipients has already picked up, if you then pick up, the line just goes dead - well that exactly described YouMail's attempt to reach me - in other words, spam. How a company promising to filter spam for you - has the chutzpah to spam you - is another grotesque symptom of the march of time that certainly in the USA, seems to be headed backwards to the Wild West 1888. I suppose we have Trump to thank for that - where flat out lying (no longer merely two different recollections of one event - or even propaganda - but just barefaced lying) is a completely acceptable tactic - yea, even into those companies who are purporting to offer to help you avoid the very nuisance that they themselves shamelessly commit. I also take particular note of more than one of the other reviews - of which til mine, there were only 7 anyway - remarked how difficult the company was to reach (if you only had their free service) - while even those who paid had a fright of a time attempting to cancel. One review only specifically states this was simple "even though I had gone a week over". I know Trust pilot has itself had its bottom spanked hard - given that it, too, is in the business of generating as much cash as it reasonably can in return for spending as little of that as possible. While that could be said to be a reasonable assessment of ANY company's mission, it is PARTICULARLY ironic, that Trust pilot (with the clue in the name) has itself more than once had to have had its feet held hard against the fire to excuse everything from overt corruption, simony and bribery - to mere "clarity and transparency" issues. In short, if one review out of 7 on Trustpilot says something markedly different from the others, I retain fully the right to a very high degree of cynicism regarding the authenticity of any outlying great reviews amongst a dreary grey ocean of below average and terrible ones. The Internet - and the companies advertising on it - seem uniquely interested in hooking you in, using EVERYONE'S own greed against them, only to ditch you and all their promises, like a one night stand in the morning light. I don't know what's in the "How to write a useful review" "guidance" and frankly am not much interested. I hope that anyone who reads this (if it is not taken down - for which some pusillanimous excuse will no doubt be found) does indeed find my comments helpful both in this specific instance as far as YouMail are concerned - and internet/phone-based companies in general.

On July 19

On July 19, 2025, I made a VISA payment for $143.88 for an extension of services with the Youmail online company. This was an annual payment. I have dealt with this company for several years and never thought that they would give me such a hard time for future services. I sent a screenshot of the charges made from my bank and it posted as paid the next day. I tried to reasonably present my request for either a full refund or for services I paid for. They told me to file a claim with my bank. I have filed with the bank. Yet, Youmail continues to email me about these charges stating that they don't believe me. I don't know what to do in this situation. Be careful of Youmail!

Horrible!

The WSJ recommended this app. It started out good, then little by little, it's filtering OUT calls I want and not filtering out calls I don't want. Then try canceling. Hah! I tried the bot, chat and supposedly live people. No one responds. I've been 20 minutes online waiting for someone to respond. It won't let go of my calls, even though I switched to Verizon app. Finally found a place to cancel on the site.

Enjoyed the service for several years

Enjoyed the service for several years, especially the back up phone line and alternate voice mail messages. I did cancel it when I ceased the business I had but despite missing the renewal date by a week or so they fully credited my annual fees.

Boost Mobile not allowed

I used to use YouMail many many years ago. Currently I wanted to install it on my mothers phone to help reduce the number of spam calls. I found out during account creation that Boost Mobile does not allow calls to be
forwarded to YouMail.

Pay for high end subscription, lose features and get spammed

I've been bombarded with spam and phishing SMS messages lately and decided to install a spam screening app on my phone. I chose YouMail because it seemed to be packed with features I could use. One feature they offer with a paid commercial subscription is a second phone number. The number is advertised as fully functional, you can make and receive calls and texts and it has voicemail.

After I set up the app, I noticed that it wasn't picking up SMS messages from my main phone line. YouMail doesn't block SMS spam on Android, but it does flag suspicious messages. I wanted it to flag texts on the main line, the second line doesn't receive texts.

I emailed YouMail support to see if I could set the messaging feature to connect to the main phone line. The first reply accused me of wanting YouMail to block spam SMS texts, clearly they didn't read my email. I told them that I wanted their messaging app to connect to my main line or to be able to toggle between lines when using the messaging app.

I was informed that their messaging feature only works with one phone line, and that it's set up by YouMail to only connect to the secondary line. So in other words I paid a lot of money to get two "fully functional" lines and instead of gaining functionality I lose the SMS screening on my main line and have to use the Android messaging app!

Then while I was writing my disgruntled response to their tech support, YouMail sent a full screen ad through their app, and a second copy of the ad to my email! I had to go into Settings on my phone and force close YouMail to turn the ad off. I didn't sign up for an expensive business tier subscription to an "anti spam" app so they could fill my phone and email with their spam.

I'm very disappointed in this "service" and I'm now looking for an alternative before I get rid of it.

YouMail good at blocking, not good at contact synching

YouMail was very good at blocking robocalls. Five stars for that.

The contacts part of the app didn't sync well with my Samsung S9 Android phone. If I deleted a contact in my phone YouMail wouldn't delete it - I had to go in and manually delete it.

Support was poor for the free version - no chat available until you bought the paid version.
