Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience – old tyres and extremely difficult returns

I purchased two new tyres in good faith, expecting a matching pair with similar production dates (DOT). Instead, I received tyres with very different and old DOT numbers (one from 2022 and one from 2023). This is not what a customer reasonably expects when ordering a pair of new tyres.

From the beginning, resolving this issue was unnecessarily complicated. Communication was slow, inconsistent, and repeatedly delayed. Different answers were given at different stages, and the return process felt intentionally discouraging.

Eventually, I was informed that returning the tyres would involve return fees of £45 per tyre, which makes the return economically unreasonable. This comes after weeks of back-and-forth, despite the issue clearly originating on the seller’s side.

What is most concerning is that the seller is fully aware that they are shipping old stock, yet this is treated as normal, while the burden and cost of correcting the issue are pushed onto the customer. The return procedure appears designed to make customers give up rather than resolve the problem fairly.

I am also concerned about the long-term safety and quality of older tyres — aged rubber may lead to issues such as cracking or balancing problems, making any future warranty claim something I would not even want to deal with after this experience.

Based on how this case was handled, I would not recommend this seller and would strongly advise others to check DOT dates carefully before purchasing.
