3DESIGN Software Avis 7

I purchased this software several years ago and have been using it ever since. personally I feel like I am in a 'spent $10k on this, I need to keep using it' kind of situation. which is probably partly my fault, but also, they won't issue any kind of refund no matter what, so sunk cost fallacy or not, Im in it. that said, I would say for the most part the software functions more or less well enough. however, there are so many bugs and issues that make is near impossible some days to use. there have been numerous occasions that the software just kicks me out for no reason, and if I haven't saved progress for a minute, then all that is lost. they say things auto save every so often, but they don't. everyone is lost. so you have to be in the habit of hitting save every 30 seconds or so. definitely have to make sure you hit save before you even ask it to do a simple function like chamfering simple geometry, because it might decide it doesn't like adding a chamfer to a simple wedding band with zero complex geometry, and just simply close entirely. rather than issue an error message, the software just shuts down. incredibly annoying. when I ask the IT people for help I am told that it is my problem and it must be something that I am doing wrong. I find that incredibly insulting, and lazy on their part. it's just easier to tell the customer that the issue is their own rather than taking accountability and fixing the issues. the newest issue with the more recent update is that sometimes when you right click to rotate, it thinks you are asking for the popup menu, then when you try to dismiss it the whole system freezes and won't respond no matter how long you let it sit. ridiculous, that a right click popup menu could freeze the whole system. this creates the same issue as if the system just closes itself. all progress to your work is just lost to the ether. I would 100% push people away from using this software. In fact when we expanded CAD in our office, I got Rhinos matrix gold for the other designers here. avoid this company at all costs. you will be left with little to no help, and the help they do offer doesn't actually fix anything. they'll just insult you and then ghost you for months until you threaten them.

The quality and variety of products they offer is awesome! The owner's enthusiasm for this business and the new designs and products is contagious! Keep lip the excellent work.

One of the most shocking and disappointing things for me when purchasing this software (and to be honest started me on the path towards regret for purchasing 3Design) is the fact that you can't even import svg files to use in your sketches, which means I can't even do something as simple as importing a logo to engrave on the inner of a ring shank.

This is just one of well over a dozen of things that I have come across in 3Design that should be absolute basic elementary features in the modern age with this sort of software but are non-existent in 3Design; with this sort of price tag it is actually infuriating.

On top of that, overall the software itself is very clunky, slow, and barely follows the conventions of traditional software design, but as this is a very niche software, I will give them a pass; obviously this isn't an Adobe software with a huge team and budget designing a program for a market of millions of people etc

I found 3DESIGN by looking at an alternative to Matrix and Rhino. The multiplication of plug-ins and being able to update them all really got a tool on me. With 3DESIGN all the techniques I was using before can be applied and the parametric construction just make the big difference as parameters can be changed at any time of the design phase.

I’ve been using Matrix for a while and had to change to 3Design since I integrated another workshop. The time you save using the parametric is just incredible and I cannot imagine go back!
