I have been listening to free versions of "The Ancients" and "Gone Medieval" for over a year and loved them.

For my Birthday I asked my wife to buy me a subscription to History Hit and its fantastics. Not only can I listen to all their podcasts ad-free, but I now have access to a lot of great programmes on my TV via their History Hot app.

Its a great gift for anybody who likes history

I have found a lot of interesting, well-done programs. I understand the company is based in Britain, and I do like British history, but being in the U.S., I would like to see more U.S. history and world history documentaries. I think History Hit could grow its audience doing that.
My one pet peeve is that closed captioning is not available on all the programs.

I signed up for 7 day free trial and cancelled before trial was up and didnt feel there was enough content to make the monthly cost worthwhile.
I received an email confiming the cancellation but have had 2 payments taken for £7.99!!
Ive emailed support at history hit twice and neither email has been answered.

My favourite subject, whenever I want it.

I particularly love listening to the podcasts while I’m working out. It makes me feel that my time is being better spent. I love the interviews with war veterans - gives you a great idea of what went on behind the scenes. The “Dear John” letters one was really fascinating.

TV quality programmes from the most well known historians. Factually excellent but an easy to understand and entertaining format. All periods of history covered from the pyramids to WW2.

I absolutely love history hit! Don’t really watch any other TV now! The documentaries are brilliant and there’s a wide range of topics to choose from. Likewise with the podcasts. I personally love ‘after dark’ and ‘betwixt the sheets!’ The presenters are knowledgable and engaging and make the topics interesting and fun. Shout out to Drs Kate Lister and Eleanor Janega who are both brilliant and hilarious! Some of the documentaries are shorter than expected but that’s great as you can watch a couple before bed! If you love history, this is the subscription for you!

I love the Gone Medieval podcasts! Both hosts are knowledgeable and engaging. Even the topics I wouldn't necessarily choose are interesting and I always learn something. Give it a try!

Good honest old fashioned style documentaries without the current fad for dramatization of events. Great education presented extremely well.

The huge variety of subjects is very impressive. Nevertheless, i wish i could see more documentaries about world history like the Assyrian empire or the Media-Persia empire also. Not just the big names.

Diverse topics on all walks of history, looked into in different ways by experts.

The content is exceptionally interesting and engaging. Tons to learn for anyone interested in history. The presenters and guests are so knowledgeable. I come away from every episode feeling enlightened and entertained. It's really been a great find for me. I started with The Ancients and have branched out from there. I just love it. I'm in catch up mode and listen to multiple podcasts per day.

Great choice of podcasts & topics.

I love the breadth of programmes on History Hit and would be an avid viewer HOWEVER trying to navigate on the current platform is so slow it's like pulling teeth ! I eventually lose the will to live and look for history documentaries offered on other channels. So I doubt I'll renew my annual subscription.

I cannot access subscription only eps, I’ve emailed customer service but I have had zero responses so far. The content is excellent. The tech back end isn’t.

Great app for History lovers! I love history so I loved finding this app! There’s so much to choose from to watch and learn! I used my free trial to the fullest and will definitely subscribe! It’s so worth it.

Agree with many users reviews. Despite never changing my password, I was logged out of my account and despite multiple attempts to reset my password, no emails were sent with instructions. Instead my account gets locked due to “multiple login fails” and customer service is absolutely non-existent in helping solve the issue. They did cancel my subscription eventually after multiple back and forth emails although I don’t actually believe my feedback or criticism will be taken into consideration as multiple users have experienced the same.

Visiting Scotland this summer reignited my interest in history again - but not reading boring books or watching 2-hour documentaries. I love the bite-size episodes on interesting topics on everyday life (ie. what people ate, how they lived, customs and traditions of the time). History Hits captures all of this authentically and invitingly through the stories their hosts and historians tell.
