Charged me a $14.85 credit card processing fee even though I paid by eCheck. Refused to refund, customer service has been a run-around.

Chicago Park District uses Active to sign up for skating sessions on public rinks. Once they have your email and credit card, they automatically charge for an annual membership, without any authorization. There is no method for dispute resolution or to contact them to discuss. I will work to try to have them removed from Chicago Park Districts.

Shockingly bad customer service

Happy to take money for races but can't do a simple activity of refunding when you sell your space.

Um_activewear complete and utter scam. Took two bank payments off me and no product sent to me for the first payment so out of pocket nearly £100. Also number on the bank statement is for a soft play centre for kids in Cardiff. I will be contacting my bank tomorrow

I received a reoccurring charge on 9/14/2023 from Active.com. When trying to call customer service, it says that they are not taking calls due to COVID. Looking through my emails, I signed up for Muddy Dash on 8/14/2022 and received an order receipt from Active.com. I have never purchased a subscription or any other product from this company. This is a scam, and the company is hoping that people do not notice these reoccurring charges on their accounts.

Active misleads customers into signing up for a junk program with an annual membership fee of $99.95 after they sign up for a race.

I used my credit card to register for a swimming event and somehow Active.com got hold of it and charged me $89.00 for an unwanted "membership." These people are crooks. They don't answer the phone, nor do they respond to emails. I hope I have succesfully cancelled this bogus membership, but with creeps like this you never know for sure

0 stars. This website is a complete scam. Waste of money and time. Paid for “insurance policy” to run. Run has not happened. It has now been rescheduled 3 times the literal day before. No refund, and no one to get ahold of at customer service. Horrible.

In the United States, companies are allowed to have NON-REFUNDABLE policies. If you sign up for a race through Active.com or through Rock N' Roll, you'll never be able to get a refund if you want to cancel. Do you ever wonder where the money goes when a company creates a no-refund policy? I personally believe organizations that have NON-REFUNDABLE policies are scams. I mistakenly signed up for the wrong race; I realize it was my fault, and I clearly signed the paperwork that says no refunds are allowed. I will never run a Rock N'Roll Marathon again, and I will never run a race through Active.com again. My advice to event organizers: give people their money back and don't create non-refundable policies that allow you to exploit customers who have a legitimate reason to cancel their participation in an event. I believe that good companies will always issue refunds to their customers and don't have policies where they can pocket their clients' money. It's mean spirited and bad for business in my opinion.

This is a complete scam. In order to volunteer at a youth event, I signed up for their service in order to gain entry and they automatically enrolled me in a program that costs $89 a year. With automatic renewal, and no way to contact them. Obviously, they have a lot of problems because they have an entire page devoted to telling you how they will dispute any credit card charge back and have horrible reviews. These are bad

Terrible customer service. How can you have a $100 + million business and not have anyone to answer your 800 customer service line? I would not use this website if my daughters school didnt use it. Terrible. Do not use if you dont have to.

The absolute worst scam. Active.com uses devious and predatory practices to fool people into signing up for memberships unintentionally and makes it impossible to cancel. They should be sued and shut down.

*adding this in after reading other reviews: I was being nice and trying to not call them scammers, but after reading other people’s reviews: this company IS A TOTAL SCAM. Basically debt collectors under the guise of “protecting” people. Nope, they just wanna make money off you.*

The absolute worst. Bought protection for a race that was postponed last minute due to a hurricane. Mind you, i don’t usually buy ticket protections and now I’m sure I never will again. The week the race was postponed to, I was not able to attend and tried to get a refund. They said “registration fee for a postponed activity is not eligible for a refund.” It was postponed because of a HURRICANE-something outside of everyone’s control. I live in Florida! Y’all are aware of the destruction it caused. They kept my money and left me with “contact the event director”. Customer service is horrible and apathetic. I’ve got all the emails for it. Save your money and either ensure you can attend your event, or resell tickets if you need to. Do not give this company your money. I feel absolutely scammed.

Signed up for a ski race and was charged an extra $60 "protection" fee, I never wanted to pay. WORST customer service I've ever experienced. No phone number to call. An automated-only response 1 WEEK after complaint. Over 2 months later, no resolution, no refund, no care. STAY FAR AWAY! Will notify all ski racing registration systems in the US to avoid, and look for a new partner.

I've been trying to make contact relentlessly, 5 times I've tried various means of contact.
I was credited from an Ironman event in Staffordshire which was scheduled for 2021. I have been trying to book Ironman Swansea via the Active.com website as it states on the email from them, this being the email offering a lower fee to register for the event however, when I go onto their website via the email, there is no event on there?

I have been trying to contact them as now the price has gone up but nobody is replying to my correspondence to sort this issue out?

This is really poor service, especially given the costs of the events, the service should be much more responsive and seeking to resolve issues.

Now I have credit which I can't even use so essentially they've stolen £363 and I'll be seeking legal action to recover the costs!!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had signing up for a run/race. Between my house and my friend's house we have signed up for 50-75 runs/triathlons/mudruns............ and this was the absolute worst. The whole thing is geared towards making as much money from you as possible (a week before the race they send out an email saying that if you don't pick up your packets the night before, there is a $5 charge the day of????? We are an hour away from the pick up location. So if we don't drive an hour each way the night before, we have to pay an extra $20 for the 4 of us?????? It has been like this since the moment we signed up. Never mind the fiasco of having my credit card canceled the first day of an international trip when I didn't recognize a charge, which ended up being something Active.com was changing without me knowing about it. Horrible company. Not transparent at all with their charges. Will make sure to avoid any activity that has to go through them.

Over the last couple of years, I've had multiple races postponed or flat out canceled without any option of refunds. They keep saying that they can only transfer the registration towards a future race, but some races I've signed up for over 2 years ago and have still yet to be able to transfer them to a new race successfully. I get it with the pandemic and all, but a refund should have been issued due to the cancelations instead of holding onto our money and continuously postponing all of the races with no promise of a future race. Fast forward to now when I've been signed up for the Muddy Dash that was supposed to take place tomorrow (10/1/22) which I've signed up for LAST YEAR, and now I find that the race has been canceled with no reason given. With all the cancelations, I have not received a single email to let me know that these races have been canceled. Instead, I find out by looking on the website. Thank god I did or else I would have driven all the way to Miami for nothing and wasted all that gas. ACTIVE needs to get its act together because I had to request off of work to do this race and go out of my way to make sure I can go only to find out the night before by my own research. This is not okay!

They will sign you up for a trial using fine prints and start charging your card 90 dollars a year. Good luck if you want to cancel because their customer service is nonexistent.

Complete thievery and horrible customer service. Not only are the secretly trying to scam all the people who register using their service, they also take/keep more money from camp owners then they say they are. Do your accounting well. We refunded everyone when events were cancelled for COVID. Of course ACTIVE kept all registration fees and charged based on event cost not on deposits made. We gave participants the option of simply pushing their registration to next year. When we moved participants into the next year, ACTIVE re-charged already collected registration fees again. They charged each participant twice. Instead of partial refunds due to covid they doubled the amount.
