As the host of Welcome Home: A Podcast for Veterans, About Veterans, By Veterans, I have relied on Async (formerly Podcastle) for the past 3 years, and it has become the starting point for our production workflow.

We are currently in season four, and I have edited 143 episodes on the platform so far. From day one, Async stood out for its ease of use. The interface is intuitive, clean, and clearly designed with creators in mind. Even when juggling tight schedules and multiple contributors, I can move from raw recording to a polished episode without friction or wasted time.

If you are trying to use the 7 day trial and toggle to the monthly you will be charged $39.99 for nothing as the products AI does not work at all - just creates garbled garbage - not at all as advertised

Unfair business practice and almost nil support

1. Business ethics needs to be improved.
2. They have suddenly stopped AI clips feature for PRO subscribers and asking to upgrade the account.
3. Support is almost nil. Maybe it is available for a particular country. No one is available for global customers. So, it is not a global product. Email response is un-satisfactory.
4. You lose time and interest if you are stuck with some feature or met with a bug.

To clarify a few points: our support team is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM GMT, specifically to cover as many global time zones as possible. We do support customers worldwide, and we’re sorry if our response time or communication felt unsatisfactory in your case.

Regarding AI Clips, the feature has not been removed from the Pro plan. After reviewing your account, we can see that you’ve used 90.6 minutes of the 120-minute AI Clips allowance included with Pro. The clip you attempted to generate was longer than the remaining ~30 minutes, which is why the system prompted an upgrade to the next tier. This was due to reaching the usage limit, not a sudden removal of the feature.

We also understand how frustrating it is to lose time or momentum due to bugs or unclear limits. Your feedback about product reliability, clarity conveyance, and support experience is taken seriously, and we’re actively working on improvements in these areas. We’re happy to review any specific issues you encountered and help however we can.

DO NOT buy or add any payment method to your use of their trial. This is the typical shitty tactic companies like this use to get the trial to quietly convert into a paid subscription and then pretend it’s “normal” when you get charged. Their own policies make it pretty clear how this goes: trials roll into paid plans, and once a charge is processed, they hide behind “no refunds or no prorated refunds,” with the usual “you should’ve canceled before renewal” line.

When I asked for a refund, they didn’t even address the refund request, just sent a scripted explanation about billing cycles (13th of one month to the next month on the 12th, new cycle starts on the 13th) like that magically answers anything. If you’re thinking of using Podcastle, assume you won’t see your money again once they charge you.

Do not use this service even to try.

We’d like to clarify a few important points for transparency. After reviewing your account, we can see that you signed up for a monthly subscription back in October. We don’t offer free trials on monthly plans - trials are available only on annual subscriptions. This is shown at checkout before completing sign-up. Monthly plans renew automatically each billing cycle, as is standard for subscription services.

You reached out to us in January, after a subsequent monthly renewal had already been processed. While refunds are available within 7 days of the initial charge, we’re unfortunately unable to issue refunds for later renewals, which is why your request couldn’t be approved.

We understand that this wasn’t the outcome you were hoping for, and we’re sorry for the disappointment. Our goal is always to be clear about billing and help users make informed choices, not to catch anyone off guard. I don't make podcasts

I don't make podcasts, so why am I giving Podcastle a five star review? Simply put the AI voice enhancement is the best I've found. I'm a commercial videographer and often the hardest thing about video is audio. Shooting interviews in challenging environments like airpots and factories is easy now I know that Podcastle can give me a beautiful studio sound, no matter how bad the recording is.

Not a huge fan of this site. They never notified me about my upcoming payment and then refused to refund me for the unexpected change. Also, they don't offer many good sound effects/features.

Disappointing Support and Frustrating Cancellation Process

I attempted to cancel my trial on December 10th before it expired. However, the cancellation process was not clear or user-friendly, which resulted in the system failing to register my request. As a result, I was charged $287.90 USD for an annual plan that I did not intend to purchase.

I contacted customer support within two hours of the charge to resolve this. I clearly explained that I had no intention of renewing and provided proof of my earlier attempt to cancel. I would like to emphasize that I have not used the service at all since the charge occurred, further demonstrating my lack of intent to use this subscription.

Unfortunately, the support team provided no help whatsoever. Instead of addressing the issue or offering a flexible solution, they simply hid behind rigid system policies and automated responses, completely ignoring the facts of my case.

As a consumer, I am deeply disappointed. This is not how a company should treat its customers. I have now been forced to initiate a dispute with my bank to recover the funds.

Pros: None.

Cons: Unhelpful customer support, extremely rigid billing policies.

Please be very cautious before providing your credit card information to this company.

Great customer service!
Based on older reviews, it looks like Podcastle has taken concerns to heart and made some changes. There was a billing error on my account. I was contacted the same day I reached out to ask and was refunded immediately. Support was VERY helpful. Very responsive. Very nice.
This is my first podcast and I had no idea what I was doing. The platform is really very user friendly. Click, drag, and drop. Super intuitive too. I was told my podcast sounded very professional. Thanks for making me sound good!

Piece of junk

Piece of junk. Lagging. Tools don't work as promised "magic dust" keeps failing on small clips, even a basic function like merging edited segments doesn't work. The CS is fairly responsive but they never solve the issue.

Great technical support

I understand that it's normal with technology that not everything is controlable. I had problem getting my recordings from the online platform. If i could leave 0 stars i would!!!! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I started a free trial and then a few days later i get charged almost $300. I reached out immediately once i noticed the charge on my account. They took 3 days to respond to tell me no they cant refund. I wrote several emails and they kept saying no they cant refund cause it's their "policy" This is something i never even used or wanted to use. DO NOT TRUST THEM !!!!! They have no ethics!

Our 7-day free trial is set up to automatically convert into a paid annual plan unless it’s cancelled before the trial ends, and we always send a reminder email 48 hours before the charge so users have time to cancel or reach out if they’re having trouble. Once a trial converts and the payment is processed, our current policy doesn’t allow us to refund those charges, which is why the support team explained they couldn’t make an exception in your case.

That said, we never want anyone to feel misled or unheard. Your frustration is completely understandable, and we’re genuinely sorry this felt stressful and disappointing.

Dishonest and unethical

I had used podcastle for a few years and it has its issues, but overall was the best tool for cleaning and editing my audios.
In July they offered me a deal if I bought 12 months rather than the monthly subscription I had been paying. I bought the 12 month package. I hadn't used it for a month or so and when I came back to it today it was locked. They had changed the storage limits after I had paid for it. I was over the limit and couldn't use it until I had paid for an upgrade.
This is underhand, unethical and outright dishonest to change the product months after it has been bought and paid for. I am very unhappy indeed. An ai bot got back to me when I complained and said it undertood that I must be frustrated. Damn right I'm frustrated! Furious more like!!!
I have checked and this is illegal in the UK. They changed the storage from 40GB to 5GB without my consent meaning I could not use the platform until I had given them more money. I call that commercial terrorism.
I have never encountered such stubborn and unhelpful customer service reps. I think they are probably bots. It is illegal in the UK, but I don't have time to fight it. I will be changing supplier as soon as I have time to research the alternatives. BEWARE!
