The reason that I’m given this score of…

The reason that I’m given this score of one really it should be a zero. I was with Aussie broadband for a number of years over five I think years. And two fetch boxes will I found out that I could get a cheaper internet I asked the new provider what about the fetch boxes. They said it’s all good so I went with the new provider, well the boxes still work I got some money taken out of my account and it was $30 dollars and it was Aussie. So anyway I ran Aussie and asked why am I still getting $30 taken out of my account, well they said it is a rental fee. I couldn’t believe it I ran three times and got three different answers. So I told them I don’t want to keep paying $30 dollars and mine you this $30 dollars has added up to over $2,000 dollars because of all that time spent with them and I asked them if they could unlock these boxes and of course no. I ran telstra because I found it strange and the lady said that Telstra doesn’t rent the boxes you pay them off and then they are yours, so annoying all this time I thought that I was going to get them. So I would NOT RECOMMEND Aussie broadband to anyone. They are an absolute rip-off company to take advantage of people like that. It’s disgraceful. The boxes are like nearly $600 but if you do it through Telstra they’re nearly $400 but you can pay them off Aussie no way I have two boxes here wasting away that I can’t use because they don’t want to unlock it so this is why I’m writing this review. Stay away from Aussie broadband waste of money. And yes I end up buying a box from JB and now I’m connected to fetch. So much money that was wasted with Aussie broadband a big waste. Cheers all

Very happy - for over 5 years

I've been with Aussie for about 5 years now and have been really happy with our internet AND the staff being in Australia. I no longer have to spend at least an hour on hold and then have difficulty getting them to understand the issues. ***** Aussie

NBN Upgrade

We upgraded our NBN from copper to fibre optic - the scheduling and visit were seamless. We did however have issues connecting our modem to the NBN and our devices. I called them up and received the best support from the lovely Sonia. She stayed on the phone with me for 1.5 hours troubleshooting and guiding me to resolve the issue. We managed to resolve the issue, but Sonia's patience and display of genuine care really made the whole process a lot easier. She kept apologising for the issue and thanking me for my patience - but I should be the one thanking her! The call also occurred after hours - thank you so much Sonia! Honestly great customer support from these guys - just need more of them!

Not happy Aussie!

I am on the 500/50 plan (ha!) with a TPG Modem Router VXG220 G2v. Every day, my internet connection drops out, especially in the mornings. It will also drop out during the day and infuriatingly it drops out when I change the TV from Netflix to Paramount +, or vice versa in the evenings.
Every time I have to go and unplug the router/modem wait the specified time and then reconnect and wait till it comes back on. Not only do I miss goals scored in the A League, it's bloody annoying. Aussie acknowledge this is happening but are at a loss to explain why.

Constant drop outs

Constant drop outs, constant connection problems. Always reporting faults and nothing has changed. No matter what I do there is constant issues with this. Contacted them only to be told I need to buy a better router than what I'm already paying for with their plan. That's a bit rich Aussie broadband to do that. Supply a router that we pay for only to then tell someone having constant connection problems to them go and but another router. You're worse than Optus and that's saying something. I'm sick of reporting the same issues and getting the same results. For the premium price I'm paying you're ripping me off with your unprofessional attitude towards supplying customers with what you claim to do. Shame on your ethics.

Extremely disappointing service from…

Extremely disappointing service from Aussie Broadband.

My SIM card has not been working for five days, and despite multiple attempts to get help, the issue is still not resolved. They told me they would send a replacement SIM via express delivery, but clearly that hasn’t happened — I’m still waiting.

This is not just an inconvenience. I rely on my number for work to receive shift notifications, and because of this ongoing issue, I’ve already missed three days of work and lost income.

What’s most frustrating is the lack of urgency and accountability. It feels like customers are not taken seriously, and once you’ve paid, there’s little care about the impact on your situation.

This experience has caused me stress and financial loss. I expected much better from a provider like Aussie Broadband. Based on this experience, I would not recommend their service.

AUSSIEBROADBAND IS A SCAM COMPANY!

As an Australian that uses this service. DO NOT SIGN UP TO AUSSIE BROADBAND! THEY WILL SCAM YOU OUT OF A LOT OF MONEY! This is truly one of the worse internet/phone service providers in existence. Period. They scam you by having your bill come out on the same Day every month, rather than doing it fortnightly (how most people receive their wages etc). So basically because how they have set up their business, you will ALWAYS receive the late bill (EVERY SIINGLE MONTH!) where they charge you $5 for each time the payment fails.. But it ALWAYS fails, because they do NOT take the payment when your wage arrives, they take it on the same day every month!
AUSSIE BROADBAND IS A SCAMMING INTERNET AND PHONE SERVICE! DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE! You WILL be scammed out of a LOT of money. Do Not Use This Company for ANYTHING!

Getting terribly worse…

Getting terribly worse with NBN service. "Upgraded" to FTTP was promised I'd get no more drop outs or slow bandwidth....for a time it DID improve....until everybody else upgraded from FTTN and hey presto, it's just like as before!! Especially when all the Nellyflix's get signed into Netflix and the 6K gamers are online!! 3rd world infrastructure, premium rates.....

PS I had to even connect to Telstra hotspot via my phone because this page would not even load using AB services!

This is their sarcastic reply:-

Dear Mark Cosgrove,

Unfortunately, you're permanently blacklisted in our system for breaking our
terms and conditions. So we won't be able to connect you to our services ever
again.

I hope you have a great experience with the other providers you listed :)

Regards,

Zach

They have blacklisted me for returning items I bought that didn't work as directed by their staff.

Simple set up and cancellation

I made an account with them, and the very first day I found a much better deal with a different company. At the phone, the customer service was really friendly, cancelled the account within 5 minutes, and really gave a great impression.

Also setting up the account in the first place was very simple, so overall, despite the short time together (a few hours), it was an extremely smooth ride! :D

Having been with Aussie Broadband for…

Having been with Aussie Broadband for quite a number of years my most recent experience with them as left me very disappointed. My old router of 6 years was starting to fail, and was advised by tech support to purchase a new router which I did, however after only having that new router for one month almost to the day, it failed miserably, no power, no lights, no nothing, it took me 45 mins to get connected to tech support, I was told it would take about a week to get a new router sent out to me, I was taken back by this, as I work from home, and I am now losing money as a result of this, I then emphasised to the tech support person, that I needed to be back up and running again urgently, she then said she would organise it to be sent express post, a day later the router still has not been shipped out, and they are not prepared to do anything more about it, was told that routers and other electronics fail, and it is just like having a faulty car, well it is not good enough, the second in charge that I spoke to didnt care at all, and his attitude was terrible, and he told me that the only compensation I would receive is for each day I am offline I would receive a credit, he said that they would not compensate me for the lost wages. Well if this is how Aussie Broadband are treating long term customers then I think it is time to look for another provider.

Was once the best internet provider.

Was with Aussie for 4 years. For the last year we’ve been receiving on average 300mps from the 1000mps we were paying for. Each time I’d try and call to get it sorted out I spent 60 -90 mins on hold before being disconnected, being a business owner I can’t afford to have to chase my internet connection.

Last week I was successful in being able to reach a person still took 67 minutes to get someone. They said that unless I can reach them to log a fault it doesn’t exist and that my call attempts aren’t logged if I don’t get through,

Aussie feels like it’s shrunk to an operation that can no longer support its customers properly.

If considering Aussie broadband in 2026 when calling, press the button on phone for faults and see how long you need to wait it’s never been less than an hour. New accounts get through in less than a few minutes.

I contacted Aussie Broadband for help with my poor internet connection

I contacted Aussie Broadband for support and spoke with Naga. Unfortunately, the help provided was not very useful. I was told the issue was likely my router or my TV. My TV is only 18 months old and works perfectly, and the router was supplied by Aussie Broadband and has lasted around three years.

Naga acknowledged that routers are generally expected to last 3–6 years, yet the main suggestion was simply to replace my equipment. I was told it was a “streaming issue”, but no clear evidence or proper troubleshooting was provided to show that my router or TV was actually at fault. I still cannot watch a TV show all the way through without interruptions.

The comparison made — that if a car was broken you would just buy a new one — was unhelpful. I wouldn’t replace a car without clear evidence that it wasn’t working, and the same logic should apply here.

On the positive side, I was offered a $6 discount for six months, which I appreciate. However, this does not resolve the ongoing service issue.

Overall, a disappointing support experience.

Loyalty tax

Have you been gaslighted about the internet speed being slower but it’s not their fault and is fed up waiting for 1 hr in queue only to get nowhere with customer support and they want you to keep paying the premium price?

This review is for you.

Been a customer since 2021. Upgraded service to NBN500 a year ago, speed reduced a lot in the last 6 months. Residential household, no kids, just stream Netflix and Youtube at most. Youtube shorts would freeze at 8pm, only device streaming. Was told it’s not them, it’s me. Called them. Tried turning on and off, same issues unresolved. Lots of time wasted on the phone waiting. You get the gist. They used to answer quick and were helpful, then read other reviews about declining services since they listed on the ASX. You can connect the dots. Wait times are over an hour to speak to someone during a weekday now. Eventually I was transferred to the retention team. They spent over 30 mins talking at me why it was not them, and it’s me. Told I may need a new router but not guaranteed it could work. I bought the original router through them btw. No discounts or offers made to retain loyal clients. They can’t offer “compensation” because it’s not their fault. They also refused to do a price match for their existing customers to the BlackFriday deals as it’s for ‘new customers’ only.

It’s true when they say you pay the loyalty tax if you don’t shop around.

So I changed to another service provider on the same day, Leaptel. Competitive on price and good customer support reviews. Took a leap of faith. Same day porting service. Just signed up online, and got a notification 20 mins later it’s done. Direct debit set up. I called the customer support team as internet was still lagging. Got through on the first ring, they were so helpful and did not gaslight me. Explained in plain English why I may experience problems and provided solutions. I did try turning things on and off and then decided to try upgrading the router. They can’t endorse products nor make recommendations but they said if I get something between $100-$200 from JB or Officeworks it should do the job and what specifications to look out for. Bought a new router next day, WIFI internet speed is beyond the NBN500 I paid for. Emphasis on the WIFI, not ethernet cable. Iykyk. 6 months of problems fixed in a day, and internet plan was cheaper too.

No fluff around. Just common sense reliable advice. I have no affiliations to Leaptel. Just want to see a small business thrive who don’t let money get to their heads. Like what Aussie BB used to be.

I switched at the start of the billing cycle. Since I likely won’t have the pro-rata’d credit refunded to me after leaving a month ago, I’ve decided it’s finally time to post my experience with Aussie Broadband to save others from a lot of mental angst and grey hairs as my farewell gift xoxo
