It has been a bumpy start. We are testing this service to supplement our traditional hiring process for a fractional role. The initial point of contact seemed to over promise. We wanted a local person as we're in a major city, we wanted to review top 3 CVs, and we wanted a background check. All of this which seems standard to us has proven more complicated than expected. We are hoping to have a kick off soon with an EA pending the results of the background check we had to conduct ourselves. We are optimistic about working with her. However, the service of Belay has room to be improved.

I signed up for Belay's 60-hour-a-month plan for my size (small/early) business, which should be more than enough hours. My VA started out strong but quickly got distracted, going down random rabbit holes, then not doing work and ignoring prompts from clients and team on Slack. When I surfaced this to Belay, it was not handled well, and when I gave 30 days' notice, they kept the same VA who wasn't delivering on, so I basically paid for 2 months of no real work.
When I flagged the handover wasn't client-ready, the VA suggested I hire someone to handle the migration, all in all, a waste of money and time.

The initial call was great but the person who was supposed to find me an assistant made me feel like my busy schedule would make me impossible to work with and told me to look for another solution. I was really disappointed in the tone of the interaction. I have had a number of employees for many years who have been very loyal and would vouch that I am not difficult to work for, but this person made me feel bad about myself. I have since identified someone to help me on my own and I am disappointed that I wasted time with this company.

Great people and connection, but the value proposition isn't clear. You're significantly more expensive than most competitors for reasons that are unclear, nor were made clear.

After making the decision to go with a virtual assistants, I needed them quick due to an upcoming month long trip to the UK. Belay understood my urgency and found me not one but 2 compatible assistants (Bookkeeper and Executive Assistant) within a very short time frame and I was able to begin onboarding prior to leaving for my trip. Both assistants are doing amazing and onboarding has been so easy due to their prior knowledge of the software and my area of business. Now I am just mad that I waited so long to make the decision to use Belay.
