Terrible Experience
We brought the grand kids thinking this would be an awesome experience.
1 the AC was not working
2 the chef was not very entertaining at all.
a. he did not interacted with anyone , he did 2 items for the kids, 1 he acted like he was spraying water. 2 he threw rice at 1 kid (I had 3)
b. he was more worried about the table across from us due to that chef having "too much food on the table"
c. My noodles legit was burned in some places
d. Came back to the table after the check came it made us feel he was looking for a tip.
We paid really good money for this experience and it was terrible. This place is suppose to be the place to go and I tasted better food at the "Cheap Chinese"
Benihana's isn't as good as it used to be
I had reservations at the Beaverton Oregon location last night with a friend and will never go back. It was so loud you couldn't hear anyone talk, the artful way they used to cook food has been replaced by beating of spatula. The table wasn't worked as a whole and our rice, veggies, yakisoba were cold by the time we got our steak and mushrooms not to mention the other party was almost done with their meal by the time we got ours. Then it took way to long for the server to bring back change meanwhile watching her bus tables and bring togo containers to another table. After leaving Benihana's we talked about how horrible our dinning experience was, so my friend called asked to speak with a manager, the gal on the other end wouldn't get one, took our complaint and told her they would get back to her within 48 hours. Very disappointed in service, food and quality of dinner experience.

Not coming here again
We went to a veteran's appreciation dinner at Benihana, Dulles Town Center, VA. The meal was billed as five courses, which is a ridiculous exaggeration. The meal consisted of a salty, tepid onion soup, steamed white rice (with a $7 upcharge for fried rice), a protein and stir fried veg medley of zucchini, mushrooms and onions. Appetizers average $20, on the high side. We've seen far superior floor shows at Sakura restaurants in the Northern Virginia area, which have a much more favorable price point and much better prepared food. The waitress, Emily, abandoned the table. We had to use other waitstaff to summon her over three different times for a hot tea refill and takeout containers. Emily's clearly never heard of a gin and tonic. That drink, at $17 had to be returned because it was improperly mixed, even after we explained to Emily how it was made. The physical plant looks tired and shabby. The restaurant may be resting on its laurels because the chain has been in business over 40 years. In our competitive marketplace I won't be surprised to see it fold unless it vastly improves its food and business model.
North Little Rock
North Little Rock.
Was first time. We waited an hour while they passed us up, customer after customer. Hostess kept hiding.
Can’t tell you if food is any good.
Manager was too busy talking. Would not give customer attention
Disappointing Experience and No Response
Disappointment with my recent visit to the Torrance location on Friday evening. I had a 6:45 PM reservation and, as a long-time customer of over 25 years, this experience fell far below the standard I have come to expect from Benihana.
There were eight people seated at our table, three of whom were children under the age of ten. Unfortunately, the chef performed no hibachi tricks whatsoever--no shrimp flip, no onion volcano, nothing. The interaction was minimal, the conversation was dry, and there was no sense of entertainment or engagement. I genuinely felt uncomfortable for everyone at the table, especially the children, who were clearly expecting the classic Benihana experience.
If I simply wanted a basic hibachi dinner, I could have easily gone elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. Benihana has always been more than just a meal--it has traditionally been both dinner and an experience. This visit did not reflect that at all.
I was disappointed not only for myself, but for everyone at my table. Given Benihana's reputation and my long-standing loyalty to this location, this experience was especially disheartening.
I contacted the company through the website provided two weeks ago @ benihanalistens received no response. It is clear this same template reply is posted under many reviews posted here, which suggests the response is procedural rather than genuine. Customers deserve more than an automated redirection. These "replies" from them want them to look responsive and move it out of public view but its just a PR strategy.
Your better off going somewhere else.
Chef Jerry was so kind and funny
Chef Jerry was so kind and funny, made us all share a laugh. The food was delicious, service was amazing. Would definitely go back.
Worst indian waitress
Worst indian waitress. She said don't come if you don't want. Up to you. Is it a business or abuse restaurant?
I got a promotional email from benihana…
I got a promotional email from benihana regarding a promotional wagu six course offer. There was no mention of price in the promotion. I called the restaurant and they said a bunch of people were calling asking the same questions.I was. Whoever the marketing genius was did not mention any pricing which is beyond ridiculous. And they had to place me on hold and tried to figure out what the price it was. Absolutely ridiculous why they would not include any pricing? When you go to the if site other items are priced. Kind of disappointed that I had to waste my time. And I wonder how many other people were annoyed because of the same reason that I was. No wonder why things are the way they are today.
Underwhelming but Turned around Benihana Covent Garden
I booked a dinner for my daughter’s birthday and noted this at the time of booking, but unfortunately it didn’t feel particularly special when we arrived. I had to remind the lady at the front desk about the occasion and had to ask for things like the little baseball caps. I also had to ask for my daughter’s name to be added to the screen—it would have been nice if that had been done automatically as part of the birthday booking. These small touches really matter, especially for a child’s special day.
That said, I really want to commend Rojanol and Cezar—they were fantastic. Both were incredibly attentive, polite, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Their warm energy really stood out and helped turn the evening around. Huge thanks to them for making the experience more enjoyable. Food was tasty fried rice was superb!
Disappointed Experience
I was excited to try this place as it looked good from the website.
My friend & I went to Covent Garden turned up a little early & was seated straight away which was great, a table of 8 we were, the lovely waiter explained the menu & took our drinks order.
Once the table was full with the other guests the waiter took our order then
the chef came out about 5mins after.
At 1st he was all happy doing his poor tricks & started to cook the food.
We were given onion soup which wasn't bad & salad.
Then the main food started to be plated, the chef counted how many bits of prawns we received, I got 3 pieces so basically 1 whole prawn, 1 scallop, a small piece of lobster tail....I couldn't believe my eyes.
We were given a small bowl of garlic & chicken rice which was the only thing that we was given a decent amount off.
We also had a very thin slice of salmon which I've never seen in my life.
We ordered cocktails & we would like to know where on earth was the alcohol that was supposed to be in them...they tasted of a fruit drink not a alcoholic drink.
We are very disappointed with how much we paid for a meal to what we actually received.
No fault to the waiter as he was lovely.
After this terrible experience we also ended up with a funny tummy.
The only good thing was the bottle of champagne we ordered.
Unfortunatley I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Are server was Johnny
Are server was Johnny, excellent and very personable.
the cook had a problem with being short on chicken and steak.
What a fun night
What a fun night! The chef was amazing and the staff was super friendly.
I recently dined at Benihana in Chandler, AZ…
I recently dined at Benihana and had a fantastic experience, despite a rocky start. Our 8:00pm reservation didn't translate to an 8:00pm seating, unfortunately, and we weren't seated until 9:15pm. However, once we were seated, our waitress Jade took exceptional care of us. She was personable, accommodating, and made sure we had everything we needed.
Our chef, Mauricio (Maury), was the real showstopper! He cooked our meal to perfection and created an electric atmosphere that had our entire party laughing and having a great time. The food was top-notch, and Maury's skills and charisma made the evening truly unforgettable.
While the reservation process could use some improvement, the exceptional service and culinary experience more than made up for it. I'd highly recommend Benihana, and specifically ask for Jade and Maury!
The Beachwood Location is well over…
The Beachwood Location is well over priced for a table of ten we shelled out close to $1000. We will never be returning the service fees got added and they still wanted a tip. Also the cook was slow the most of the food was cold.
"Disappointing dinner at Benihana's in…
"Disappointing dinner at Benihana's in Beachwood, Ohio. Food left sitting on grill for over 20 minutes, overcooked and cold. Cook cooked rice 1st with a very small portion of vegetables which was for a full table of 8 people. Then cooked each order separately after serving rice to entire table. Food was overcooked after being left on grill while preparing each entree separately. Cook was extremely rude when asked about orders which were the same, yet some had very small portions which did not compare with the other orders. Cook refused to apologize or offer solution. Unacceptable service and subpar food. 1/5 stars."
A Christmas disappointment.
I made reservation for 7 adults. However we had to include my 8 month old grandson as part of our party, even though he did not eat or take up a seat. This allowed them to charge an 18% gratuity charge, with the eighth person. We didn’t receive our group picture as promised, although I reminded them several times. Nor did I receive my hot tea, after asking again several times. We were not pleased with the service and most likely not be returning. We were so looking forward to a nice experience as we chose to eat out this year oppose to cooking at home.
We will never go back to this Benihana in Beachwood.
My family (9) took my grandson to dinner. The cook was bad. He cooked everything separately. No one get their meal at the same time. We didn't get any mushrooms no chicken fried rice as we all ordered. We asked and he said that we didn't order but the waiter should us what he put in. We asked to speak to manager, he can over but did nothing. We will never go back again. I will be letting my friends and co-workers know what happed
Not updated with the times!
For the second year in a row, I wanted to celebrate my birthday at this establishment. Unfortunately due to their extremely strict system, if you can't show them your birthday certificate PRINTED OUT you are unable to participate in their Chef's Table. Get with the new age yo, not everyone has access to a frickin printer. Other restaurants have done that, why can't you?
After receiving an email from this establishment telling me that I'm not welcome to enjoy my birthday without a printed certificate, they have definitely lost a customer. Their loss! Never mind!
Just ridiculous!
