Blackmoor is one of very few Nurseries in the UK offering gardeners the opportunity to buy fruit plants direct from our Nursery. Blackmoor Nurseries is part of Blackmoor Estate in Hampshire which has been run by the Selborne family for several generations. At Blackmoor we are very proud about our heritage and history, and we’re absolutely passionate about our fruit plants. We have been growing them at our Hampshire based estate for over 100 years. All of our staff have been trained to the highest level in both the growing and packing of our plants and we all strive to produce top quality fruit trees and soft fruit plants. All orders are subject to rigorous quality tests at every stage of growth, and throughout the processes of lifting to packing. Roots are soaked and covered before shipping which means that each plant reaches the customer in prime condition. Our customer service team are all Blackmoor Nursery people and are happy to provide expert advice either by phone or email. They are industry experts and are always happy to share their knowledge and tips about how to get the very best from growing fruit.

Wrong plums, bad customer service

Bought a Herman's plum tree which went on to produce yellow cooking plums not the lovely purple Herman's as expected. After a lot of "we don't grow/sell yellow plum trees" and "it's not our fault" they eventually agree to replace the tree. The replacement tree has the gone on to produce the same yellow fruits. Blackmoor, despite evidence of these two trees sold by them producing yellow fruit, have been unwilling to accept responsibility. They are unable to supply the correct tree and have offered a refund for the original price of a tree.This does not cover the cost of a replacement tree from elsewhere nor does it reflect the time and effort take in planting and looking after these trees.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and confusion this has caused you and your customer. We understand how frustrating it must be to receive incorrect fruit trees, especially after having experienced the same issue twice.

Regarding the yellow plums, I must clarify that we have not stocked a yellow plum variety for over 25 years. We produce around 50 Herman Plum trees each year, and we have not received any feedback indicating that the fruit produced is yellow. This situation is indeed puzzling.

We will investigate further to identify the source of the discrepancy. In the meantime, if you have any additional information or documentation that could help us in our investigation, please feel free to share it with us.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and your customer.

Prompt service and high quality trees

I ordered a damson bush which arrived in excellent condition a couple of days later. It's now planted so we'll see. Blackmoor Nurseries have also been great with previous purchases when they organised delivery on the date I requested.

My plants weren't packaged very well…

My plants weren't packaged very well and I received a box of compost to rescue the plants from. Having sent a lot of plants in my time, there are plenty of ways to package them to stop this happening. Any leaf growth the plant had wae damaged.

Also, I wouldn't have known the root ball wasn't the pot size. The plants would have fitted in half the size pots. And we pay for the pot size. I am used to buying commercially and no nursery would do this to a professional. However plenty of retail nurseries pull this trick.

Customer service didn't seem to care much. Blamed delivery company. Told to wait to spring to see if plants survive and contact them at that point.

Hmmm

Thanks for your reply but I was told they were posted up a year prior and not just in the autumn

It is disheartening to hear that the packaging of your plants was not up to the mark. The Wasabi plants were potted on in the Autumn and as you know they make their new root growth in the spring. I take on board you comments and will add some text to any product in future to say something like "Recently Potted On"

Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we take it seriously. We will be investigating the packaging process to ensure that improvements are made and that such incidents are minimized in the future.

Excellent in all aspects from the specialised information provided on the website to the ease of ordering, all communication and delivery. The trees are in first class condition and arrived very well packed. This is a very good company and I felt my orders were good hands. So far so good

So far so good.
I am blind and found choosing a nursery and then the actual fruit trees challenging.
I discussed my phone order with a very helpful lady called Ann. She advised and supported really well.
The communication around my order was excellent and my trees were delivered last week.
Apart from two of the tree branches protruding from the box, I was pleased with purchase. I planted them all within 24 hours as instructed and now await the spring.
