Autorenewing despite out of business

Like the reviewer before me, they have collected an auto-renewal payment from me despite being out of business. Since they don't respond to any customer service queries I had to escalate to Stripe and my bank.

Took money from me even though they have ceased trading

I thought Bother was good when it was going. It ceased trading early in 2023, but in late December 2023 they took £40 from me for membership in the Bother club! No doubt this is a mistake but it feels like a con. I can’t find anyone to contact so am posting here in the hope that someone will see it, maybe someone else who was ripped off in this way.

Thieves

Was a pretty decent company until they made the decision to close and keep the money I paid for a yearly subscription. Hopefully they'll be prosecuted for theft and go to prison.

Fantastic service!

Fantastic service! Such a shame they’ve gone under. I hope they refund me and other customers for the club membership I bought in May ‘23. I understand that this may have been a ditch attempt to save the business in good faith but they could have presented it that way and maybe come through the hard times. Anyway, it’s sad they’ve stopped trading and I do want my money back.

Dishonest company!

Last February, I paid for the 15% club membership. It was promised at the time that if I didn't make some or all of this money back through online purchases, then I could recoup any losses. Now they are suddenly closing and cannot be reached via email. My guess is that they had an idea this would happen at the time. Pretty dishonest, really!

Don't use

I made a Trustpilot account specifically to write this review because I cannot believe what a bad experience this has been, it's just so bizarre.

I received a voucher for Bother in a monthly magazine subscription I get, so thought I'd try them. I browsed, added dozens of items, and went to check out.

I had to create an account to check out, which I did, and then the site refreshed to log me in and emptied the whole basket. Annoying but not that big of a deal, so I added all my items again.

I went through to check out and entered the voucher code. It did not work, so I contacted support. They explained that even though the voucher was set to expire the 31st of July 2023, they were no longer honouring it. Again, annoying but whatever.

I continued with check out and paid by Amex. The charge went through, I received a confirmation email, and then immediately after I received an email saying my order had been cancelled.

I contacted support who said for some reason (they couldn't explain), the order had been marked as fraudulent so was automatically cancelled by the payment provider.

As someone who works in tech, I appreciate things like this are often automatic and it's to protect consumers so again - annoying - but I thought I'd give it one more try.

I asked support what to do to reinstate the order and they said I'd have to add everything again (annoying) and try a different payment method (charge still pending on my card).

I logged in again, added all my items AGAIN (doing this for the third time over 2 days, a few things I needed are now no longer available.. like, WHY am I STILL trying this website?!) and went through to checkout. I used a different payment method and placed the order.

Again, received a charge on my card and a confirmation email, immediately followed by a notice of order cancellation.

I reached out to support who told me: "if a order is marked as fraudulent we will be unable to fulfil it.
At this stage, we will not be able to help you any further."

Wow. Just wow. I tried multiple times to place an order of more than £120 with your company, despite a voucher not being honoured and the platform repeatedly not working for me, and this is the response I receive?

I strongly encourage all potential Bother customers to give their money to a more deserving provider.

Bother is invaluable

Bother is invaluable. Having learned that Bother is no more, I am saddened and distraught. I’ve relied on Bother completely and know of no other equivalent substitute. I have appreciated the commitment to the environment, great delivery service, range of products including organic and eco-friendly items, ease of website use.

DECEITFUL

I’m astounded after Bother accepted my annual subscription on the 30/05/2023 that they ceased trading soon after!
I only found out today when I opened their site
The company must have known it was going to happen but still accepted money from me and many other loyal customers who are now out of pocket!
It feels dishonest and so disappointing

Not happy at all I've just paid a club…

Not happy at all I've just paid a club subscription for a year in May now the company has gone boast they sure new they was in trouble then so why did they take the money ...what a con I seem to get stung all the time trusting people just want the money back I paid in May......

Poor Customer Service

Will not respond to the 5 emails I have sent them regarding the goods I ordered. They keep ignoring them, although they are no longer trading, their website says that they will fulfil any requests on the orders already taken, but seem to be ignoring my emails regarding order.
