AA- I feel cheated by the Vehicle…

AA- I feel cheated by the Vehicle Inspection they complete
AA Comprehensive inspection
206 safety checks, includes all basic inspection checks plus additional checks on:
Roadworthiness
Mechanical and main electrical functions
Previous body repairs
10-miles road test Charged £191 for an All Point Check on a car.
So this car they checked for me was obviously worth £0. It is still not sold from January until now!!!
I wrote to you the AA about my application and results from this inspection I had requested. So the engineer was to complete a 206 point test which is their top inspections for vehicles, I had to request my money back when due to the shoddy advice from the AA's engineer. So, it started when I rang and spoke to an advisor which was recorded, she sold me a dream with this car inspection and I felt boosted knowing this inspection consisted of an all point check of a car that was over 100 miles from my home address and all from an unknown seller.
The advisor had also told me which was noted as recorded for training purposes that the car inspection engineer would call me after his all point inspection on the day of the inspection to give me a full overview of their findings from a car that looked good on the web site, but for the mount it cost it also required a quality check from an expert.
So, you sent an engineer on the 4th March 2023. I had no calls or missed calls or any notifications of any description from the said engineer. But what I did have as a customer service engineer in my own field is knowledge that he did not call me. If you checked his mobile phone log which I know you can you can his history and that shows he definitely did not call me, txt, whats app call or email me!
I had to contact you the AA on the 5th March - only to be told that the engineer who completed the inspection, who allegedly noted he had called me was on holiday. How convenient. All these none contacts can be verified on my phone also been an engineer and knowing that if the AA engineer had called it would be logged on his phone as a call and further more it would be registered on my phone or pc. After all, phones don’t lie! But they do register calls that were made.
When I called on the 5th March. I was told with delight from the operator who had not even seen the car but was able to give me feedback on a car they hadn’t seen themselves. The report which wasn’t from the horses mouth, but from the operator who had not seen the car said cheerily it was a very very good report. Using a traffic light method using red amber or green. She delightfully said everything was green, then she said except one point which was amber and this was noted that he couldn’t complete a cold start. The operator said she would email me the next day with the report.
With this information I called the person I was going to purchase the the vehicle from, he said he would collect me from the train station as I would be travelling travelling 100 miles on the Saturday morning to purchase his car. On arriving in Somerset from Birmingham the seller collected me at the train station and bought me back to his house, where I proceeded to look over the car myself. What was alarming, we open the boots together and when I couldn’t close the boot we both then tried again and had to slam it to close it. Upon opening the boot again in shock it was noted a considerable amount of glue was visible around the rubber seal in the boot, it was as though it had lifted off previously and was stuck back. I then started looking over the car myself where I could see that gutter strip from front to the back had lifted out of its housing, I had noted this to the car engineer initially and have the photos to prove this. On the back windscreen there was water damage on the fabric around the window, which was confirmed by the owner to me. I realised I had to step away from the car. I was totally disappointed with the AA engineers report. I had to buy a train ticket to return home on the train. I sent everything I had with all this information to the AA complaints department, only for the AA to reject my complaints several times. They stated the engineer had done his job and it was my choice to view and buy it. What agreement had I entered into I paid for a service that I did not get. So be very careful when buying the car inspection from the AA.
I re-iterate, the operator even clarified that everything would be checked it was an all point check. We are in the middle of a cost of living crisis and that engineer did nothing to support the purchaser, he just got paid of a days work. Please do not use this service or you’ll do yourself a disservice. They refused to give me my money back. I have all the photos for the car and the AA still refused saying the engineer did his best.

The said car was £17,000 - RIP OFF Report AA check £191 Save yourself the money - DO IT YOURSELF

Really disappointing company

Really disappointing company, used them a couple of times. First time a thoroughly professional service and they used a mechanical who wanted to produce a professional inspection report. Second time the inspector - didn't use a ramp, didn't test drive, spent about 15 minutes all in on the inspection. Despite the mechanic clearly not carrying out an inspection a refund has been refused. Complete disgrace.
