Chair Blocks have been designed to help alleviate the discomfort experienced by musicians when using poor seating at rehearsal halls, theatres, concert and gig venues. They encourage good posture by raising the chair legs, keeping knee height below the hips. You can flip your blocks upside down to choose one of two height settings to achieve the best posture. Individually handmade in England from solid hardwood, Chair Blocks are durable, functional, affordable and beautifully made. A leather cord is available as an optional extra to assist carrying, as well as a free service to personalise blocks with your name and number should you choose. Chair Blocks have been tried and tested by professional musicians at many venues across the UK, enabling me to create the most versatile posture aid. With studies showing over 60% of contract musicians experiencing chronic back pain, it’s vital we do our best to limit an avoidable issue that can make a musicians life a misery. Recent clients include the London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, as well as individuals from prominent UK orchestras such as the the London Mozart Players, Opera North and English National Ballet. Many West End, studio, freelance musicians and education establishments are also using Chair Blocks. There are three models available, from the larger Strad to the smaller Amati model. The Rocca model includes a cut away for use with 'bar chairs’ as well as standard leg chairs. Details of all models can be seen in the technical diagrams below. Combining the Strad and Amati or Rocca large and small models provides up to seven height and angle options to help achieve the most comfortable playing position possible. This Package deal is a popular choice with busy freelancers who may be faced with unpredictable chairs week to week at multiple venues across the UK. I can’t recommend these chair blocks highly enough! I contacted Tom in the interval of an opera I was playing in, as the chairs were so awful, and he was amazing! Definitely buy some!
The chair blocks are brilliant. They are beautifully made. I bought both pairs. That means I have so many variables on how to position the seats. Absolutely recommend. The ties are useful too and it’s great that you can have names/numbers etc imprinted on them.

Very happy with my Amati model…
Very happy with my Amati model chairblocks. They provide just a little bit of rise , perfect for my needs.
As musicians we always sit which is not ideal for your body, with chairblocks we minimise the impact and improve out posture.
Simple idea but very useful thing. Great idea with the names too!

A great product, fast delivery
A great product with super fast delivery! I needed the chair blocks for a musical tour I was doing where the seats provided weren't high enough for me to be able to play my bass clarinet comfortably. These sorted the problem and will now live in my case in case it happens again. Thank you.

Love my chairblocks! Really good quality, beautifully made and well worth the price for the improvement in comfort while performing. Especially love the little details of the leather string holding them together and my name written on them as the greatest risk is losing them. Excellent quality, highly recommended!

After 6 hours rehearsing Tippett and Britten I’d normally need a trip to the osteopath, but using Tom’s blocks I feel that I could get through an entire Ring cycle, no problem. Thanks Tom!

Highly recommend
These chair blocks have been a total game-changer. I used to frequently leave gigs with back pain but these do a great job of raising my hips above knees whilst seated. This lets me support my body weight through my legs, giving me a greater sense of connection with the ground. Hugely beneficial for my posture and my playing - highly recommend.

These chair blocks are fantastic
These chair blocks are fantastic! They are exceptionally well made and a very clever design means there is a choice of chair heights enabling you to get the perfect balance which is so important for a musicians posture. As a musician myself time and time again I am subjected to bad chairs (particularly in churches!) which inevitably give one back ache. These blocks have completely solved this issue and I have yet to find a chair that these won’t fit.
I would highly recommend these! You won’t be disappointed and your back will thank you!
