Ordered an air conditioner unit, which I was told was in stock at the time. 3 days later I'm told it's out of stock. Now left without air conditioner in the heat. Won't be shopping here again.

Bought tomato plants some weeks ago. All are dying. Despite watering and feeding as normal, leaves are dry, plants are wilting, flowers dropping off no sign of fruiting. Neighbours having same problem... Voir plus

Purchased on line. Agree with other reviews about poor customer service centre (computer says go away), beat up packaging and faulty goods, which have probably been returned before.
In this case it was a simple screw that we needed replacing. Local DIY shops couldn’t work out if it was imperial or standard. Various friends, family & neighbours had a go at assembling.
In the end we got lucky with a friend who relishes a diy challenge- this was 9 months ago and the chair hasn’t fallen apart….yet.

When a shops core business is not sales or service

Went to buy two lilac trees today priced at £47 each. They were much larger than I had expected when I popped in so asked if I could pay and pick them up later today as I was going out for the day. Unfortunately because of a management visit it was a no. Seems their core business is not sales but making sure senior management have a clutter free visit. I left empty handed and will buy elsewhere.

Just when you thought you could enjoy a…

Just when you thought you could enjoy a nice dog- free experience, Wellington’s goes and changes its policy to allow them in to stink the place out?
I’m sick and tired of damn dogs. When we were there there were several all barking at once. It spoiled our experience. Everywhere you go there’s a dog and an entitled owner. You can’t look forward these days only down just in case you put your foot in something. It’s about time businesses grew a pair and said “Dogs are still not welcome!”.
You have now lost 6 customers.

Ridiculously high cafe prices

The cafe at Countesthorpe (and therefore I assume the other Cherry Lane Garden Centres of the same group) has become insanely expensive (more so than popular high street restaurant chains).

Super service!

This relates to Cherry Lane at Peterborough. I went to my local store to find some replacement garden trellis and was served by a very helpful gentleman. He arranged for delivery and explained the charges and I left the store feeling very happy with the whole experience. I returned the following day as I had noticed that some of the trellis posts needed to be replaced and was again served by the helpful gentleman from the day before. He immediately recognised me and helped me get the posts I required and made sure they were added to my paperwork for the delivery of the trellis the following day. Again, a very positive experience. The goods were delivered the next day and the friendly shop assistant was part of the 2 man delivery team. I was pleased to see him and he and his colleague, in the pouring rain, brought all of the items into the back garden and propped them up against a covered area (out of the rain) After they left I noticed that one of the posts was a different length to the other and I phoned the gentleman to see if I could get a replacement. He was not sure if there were any others back at the store but promised to take a look when he returned from his delivery rounds. Sure enough he called me back about an hour later to let me know that they had no more of the size I required but that he would go and get me a replacement from another retailer. Shortly after he turned up at my house with the replacement post. His name is Ed and he has restored my faith in human nature, some people actually do want to do a good job. He is a shining example of someone who goes the extra mile and his service impressed me enormously. Pity there aren’t more people in the world like Ed.

I purchased some trellis yesterday from…

I purchased some trellis yesterday from Cherry Lane to find when I got it home our fence panels are wider than the trellis. I took it all back straight away , explained my issue only to be told I can't have my money back only a credit note. This purchase was almost £100 , there was no empathy from the assistant regarding my situation and all he kept saying was its company policy not to refund, even though the product was not fit for my purpose. I am completely appalled at the service I received and can ill afford to loose this money when they don't have in stock the item I require. This has left me with a very sour service experience. One very unhappy customer.

Bizarre experience with loyalty card scheme

I signed up for the loyalty card scheme as a member of staff told me I'd get 10% off on my next visit so I signed up. I received the email to activate my card which I clicked but never received the 10% off. After a couple of weeks, I emailed and had a bizarre response telling me I had marked them as spam (I hadn't) and the person attached a link to a separate and complicated web page telling me how I am to go about removing someone from spam! I do not have the time nor the energy to do that just for a 10% off voucher! I made sure at my email end that they were not marked as spam and I do not understand why from signing up for loads of schemes such as this in the past that Cherry Lane simply can't resend the vouchers! I have checked spam/junk folders and I have never received anything! I was ignored by the person at customer service on email when I questioned it further so I phoned and twice the automated phone system cut me off. When I phoned again, I happened to speak to the person who had sent me the initial email reply and she told me there was 'nothing I can do' without me going through this strange and lengthy process in order to get my voucher! I asked to speak to the manager and was left on hold so I ended up hanging up. A very long winded and utterly ridiculous situation to be in! I shall destroy my loyalty card and not use Cherry Lane any more - which is a shame as I but my compost in bulk from them as well as other things. Please sort your customer service out, being told there's nothing you can do help and make the customer jump through hoops instead is terrible service!!

More is definitely less in this case

Since this company have taken over Riverside garden centre, it has gone from a lovely garden centre to a high priced B&M. It is a case of never mind the quality just look at the quantity. Now we go to Alton's on the A127.

Shambolic

I have ordered from this company never again though.
They left my parcel outside my house from dx who was the delivery company.
When I returned home it wasn't there even though they took picture of it being deliverd and must have picked it back up as wasn't there when I got home.

Overpriced items

Ordered some Christmas reindeer on 25th November the next day saw them elsewhere for half the price! Cancelled the order the next day 26th November bearing in mind these items were to be shipped from another company, initially tried to call them but after holding which ranged up to 40 minutes to speak to someone got cut off 10 times before I was able to speak to someone not sure what is happening to their phone lines but gave up and emailed instead but of course you then have to wait up to 48 hours to get a response by the time they replied the items were apparently on there way they tried to cancel but 1 was attempted to be delivered on 29th November which I refused 12 days later still not been refunded as they have to check with the supplier they have them I should be refunded as soon as they start their journey back as they are not in my possession if lost in transit that’s not down to me after many emails same response it’s their busiest season! Get more staff. Would never order from this company again they may aswell have advisors in the phillipines as the service is shocking.

FREEZING COLD CAFE AND SHOP

Cherry Lane near Hagley is full of quality items and Christmas gifts, however the shop is bitterly cold. There are multiple holes in the roof and I hate to criticise the TV adverts but the cafe is the least cosy cafe we have ever visited. Hot food goes cold within minutes and don't attempt to take your coat off, you will be frozen within minutes. FIX THE ROOF AND HEATING

What a shambles

What a shambles. We used to regularly visit Riverside Garden Centre, for their plants and the lovely cafe. But since it has been taken over by this new company, we hardly ever visit. The centre has become a QD outlet, full of cheap junk. Really gone downhill.

Disappointment !

I have used this Garden Centre on a regular basis for over 40 years. Annually, I have always celebrated my wife's birthday by purchasing a high quality floral arrangement from the centre, each and every November. My visit yesterday proved totally fruitless as no floral arrangements whatsoever were offered for sale. Instead, the floor space previously dedicated to indoor plant arrangements had been given over to merchandise more typically found in a supermarket.
I will now have to locate a proper garden centre where flowers, plants and trees etc. are stocked in preference to toilet rolls and christmas decorations.

Calor gas robbery

This is a very nice garden centre and cafe but dont buy any calor gas here. Went to the doncaster one and bought a 6kg red calor, the price really suprised me at £44.50 then went over the road just 100 yards to the torne valley country store and I asked their price, £31.50
went back over the road and they would not take it back even though I had the receipt from 10 mins earlier, I left the site very angry and feeling I had been robbed of £13, lesson learned.

Pricing issues every time

10% rewards for Loyalty customers 9th November between 3 and 8pm. Used my reward card no discount applied. All items were full price, no sale items either!! Didn't check my receipt until back home!! This was Glebe Countesthorpe.

On most occasions items are either not priced or they charge more at the till compared to shelf label. I'm going to start going elsewhere

Pile of fire wood delivered- which was meant to be a shed

Ordered a shed online, it was delivered as a pile of wood. Literally looked like a pile of fire wood. No packaging of any kind, wood damaged, split and cracked.
After many attempts to make contact a collection was made but I’m still waiting for my refund, my emails are being ignored. Appalling customer service, I feel it’s a potentially a scam

restaurant experience and poor customer experience

Visited Gisleham Cherry Lane today and had coffee and scone in the restaurant, Nice large scone but served with only 2 very small melted butter packs (not kept refrigerated). On asking for extra butter was told its 80p extra for 2!!
I refuse to pay extra for something that should have been provided anyway!
Didn't enjoy the scone due to the lack of butter.
Service in this restaurant seems to have declined lately and same goes for the store with out of date food products on the shelves!
We decided to leave and not purchase flower bulb packs due to this and glad we did as found similar packs cheaper elsewhere.
will not be visiting again in a hurry!!!
