Was approach by an agent
Was approach by an agent, she told us that we should try CLEAR for free, after spending 30 min on signing in for this we were asked to confirm with our credit card, with out any charge.
Then we went to the CLEAR line and was there for 15 min just to be thrown out because they said we did not have CLEAR+
Two weeks later we are automatelic charged 209$ which is the price for CLEAR+…..!!!
So thanks a lot for being thrown out and then charged for it.
So do not ever use this, they are just trying to trick you it to a shite program.
Never ever again!!!
Unreliable
They didn't open during the TSA shut down. We were able to use clear only one time out of 8 times we tried to use them. The time I used them employee was not very friendly or helpful.
I contacted Clear to get my money back and they said no.
I gave them such a good review after…
I gave them such a good review after I-we booked our tavel insurance for one week. Then when I checked my bank statements, there was another charges for unauthorized annual memership which was not consented/no receipts/no documents, presented.
I did contact the customer support, today is the third time contacting them.On both 2 contact, was tols the subscription cancelled but the unauthozed charges still exist on my bank statements.
Deceptive Membership sign up,.....$209 charge to my CC "after 14 trial period" which was never revealed but appeared on my account statement. A scam way to do business. Never again.
Was introduced to Clear while checking in at an airport. Given the promo by a rep ask if I wanted to see how it works. Requested documentation ID/CC. Never told there would be a charge to my card or that I was signing for a member ship or even a 14 day "free period". No paperwork, no followup email , was billed $209 to my Amex. card. A to scam to get new members and make CC charges. May be a legit company but truly deceptive business practices.
Run away
Run away. Clear agents gave us false information and we spent over an hour on hold for the customer service line. We signed up for Pre TSA through Clear. They never gave our information to the government. And then lied about it. The Clear agent said Clear has nothing to do with PreCheck. Unless you want to be on hold for an hour, go somewhere else. Consider yourself warned.
Very aggressive sales pitch
I was waiting in security line at ohare with my passport when a Clear rep came over and whisked me out of the line asking if I was using a pp to check in. Since I don't have a Real ID and was using my pp, I thought there was a new process for pp checkin.
He hustled me to a Clear scanner, took my phone number, email and photo and then asked for a credit card to put a $1 authorization. I interrupted his non stop chatter and aggressive sales pitch to finally ask what the heck was this anyway. Then he tells me it's the Clear pass the will recognize my biometrics and I wouldn't need to show my ID. I would get a 2 week free trial and then $200 for a year or 2 or some such deal. By then I was livid, this is no way to sell a product, drag someone out of line and hustle them through personal data and biometrics without even giving them an explanation .I asked if this is similar to TSA or global entry and he said no. Then why the heck do I need this expensive service if all it saves me is showing my ID?
As soon as I cleared security I canceled the free enrollment and warned my friends and family about this scam. I heard similar feedback from several friends, how aggressive they are, lack of transparency, expensive and a private company operating inside an airport, hustling passengers leading them to misconstrue this as some government regulated program.
Just resigned up for CLEAR Plus & I…
Just resigned up for CLEAR Plus & I must truly complain which is something I NEVER do. It cost me over $ 400.00 to remain with CLEAR ( it used to be $ 99.00) and what a major rip off it was & I’m so disappointed!!! We had no problem at the Denver airport but coming back from IAH ( Houston Bush Airport) it was an absolute fiasco! We waited in the CLEAR line for 15 minutes and then all they did was merge us into the miles ling standard line with every else on the planet. So even though we arrived 2.5 hours before our flight having CLEAR actually delayed us by almost an hour & we barely made it to our flight on time. We are seniors and it was so stressful we were both almost in tears. I had to drag my poor husband for miles to our gate, all the while terrified that we would miss our flight even though we arrived so early. This is the 2nd time CLEAR has caused extreme stress to us seniors and ALWAYS from IAH. From other airports it works seamlessly. If you are traveling from IAH on Untied in terminal E please be forwarned. The CLEAR program is a complete waste and will delay you at least half an hour or more unless you pay close attention. If the Clear Representative sends you to an entrance on the left… do not go there. Wait to go to a representative on the right. The line to the right doesn’t merge you with the standard line over regular passengers and is much much shorter. Insist that you paid all this money for CLEAR plus & you want to go to the shorter line. Be aware. IAH CLEAR doesn’t work like it does in other airports, at least not at United Terminal E at IAH. We are old, tired & frustrated and spent over almost $500.00 to resign up for 3 people & first trip since our renewal & we almost missed our flight on a Tuesday at 2:00 pm despite arriving 2.5 hours early. The airport was not crowded and we should have just gotten in the regular line instead of CLEAR plus. Disappointed.
I don't understand the benefit
I don't understand the benefit. It takes longer to get through with clear then tsa. And just about as much time as general boarding. It takes forever to take your picture, and then they don't recognize your picture and have to take it again, then you got to go to a different machine and you've got to go through another gate and take another picture. I don't understand the value, and I certainly will not be renewing. Anyone who asked me, I will absolutely say do not buy Clear.

They misrepresented and entered false information
I was informed I can cancel or modify within 30 days of signing up at no charge.
Not true. I been unable to correct content and photos
I been unable to cancel
I been placed inactive status and still had to overpay a year in advance for a service i can not use.
Clear Plus has really gone downhill
Clear Plus has really gone downhill. The service is hanging on by a thread and is nowhere near what it used to be. Communication with employees has become extremely difficult — many of them don’t speak English well enough to assist effectively. At this rate, I honestly don’t see the company lasting more than a year or two. Save your money.
Buyers BEWARE
Buyers BEWARE! You pay first and then complete the process. No refund if there is an issue.
My husband and I both used CLEAR this year. Some airports allow it; others do not.
We used apple pay to sign up our 16 year old son (he used his own phone). The company took our money and then wouldn't let us complete the process (upload his passport). Didn't give us a reason, so, when we landed, we went to departures and found a CLEAR agent who informed us that Carlos is free bc under 18.
Then I missed my 14 day window to get my money back and a chatbot was the only "person" helping me (and there was an issue refunding us bc we used apple pay). Ridiculous!
Pointless Service
I sure wished I had checked here before I signed up. My first experience matched what I read here. The TSA line at SAN actually moved faster than the CLEAR line. I called to cancel and they said I was stuck with the service for a year, until we found out I was on a three month trial. The agent made no attempt to defend the service, telling me CLEAR is better than TSA on the front half of the security experience and worse on the second half. I cancelled the auto renew. What a disappointment!

‼️ beware‼️CLEAR when you’re at the…
‼️ beware‼️CLEAR when you’re at the airport says their line is so much faster and blah blah blah. You can do a free trial. No! They charge you immediately and then they charge you again and again the normal line goes faster than the clear line anyway. Then you have to go through all these hoops to get a hold of Clear! just to get your money back. It is complete ridiculous. Never again! I will also have my sisters and my mom leave this horrible review hopefully even worse because I can’t even tell you how bad it was.
If no joy from clear, get your financial institution to step in
Our experience mirrors that of many other Trustpilot reviewers:
March 13, '26 at JFK my wife was encouraged to enter the 'Clear' lane for a free trial, then her card was debited for a $209 membership. We were just finishing ~20 hours of travel, and in no condition to attend to details about cancelling a membership, but I don't think she was even told there was something she needed to cancel.
After a laborious experience with cust svce, was told that our refund/cancel request would need to be 'escalated', and that we'd be contacted within 72 hours. I will give Clear those 72 hours, but if nothing comes I'm going straight to the bank to dispute the charge.
I hope folks who are struggling with this know that, if a charge is due to misleading practices, or the company is not adhering to stated protocol, they have every right to go to their credit card company or bank and have the charge reversed.
Don't skip the line
We were in line for the TSA check and a man came and said if you have a passport you can come to a different line that was faster. No mention of signing up for anything. No mention of paying anything. We went over, and instantly he started signing us up without telling us that we'd have to pay. I had heard of some system where you could pay to get through the line faster and so I asked if we had to pay. We were already out of the line and needed to get through, and he said that we didn't have to pay anything. He recommended that we cancel after 5 days. But said that we had to use a credit card. To make matters a bit more frustrating, he had to restart his machine and needed to take his own picture. He got really weird and started making (I guess) sexy faces, and some of the female staff came around him and were giggling. It was so unprofessional! The process took forever, and I said that we would have gotten done more quickly if we've stayed in our original line. He said it was weird, because everyone was saying that. That's because it's true! The people that were behind us got done before we did. Then, when I went to get in line someone said that if you had gone through that process you could go through a different scanner more quickly. Well, he never gave me anything. He was supposed to give me some sort of verification. Another woman had what looked like pass. They told me since I didn't have it, it was like I never signed up. So, it not only slowed us down, but we didn't get any benefits. We had to get in the same line as everyone else. The line that we had been in, only we were further back. Every time we tried to ask anyone questions about it, they were extremely rude and condescending. The only helpful person we found to ask questions was a TSA agent (not clear). I usually don't give reviews unless they're positive. I don't like to. But in this case, be warned. If someone tries to get you out of your line saying that all you need is a passport, they are scam artist that is paid on commission. This occurred at the Miami airport, we were going on frontier airlines, and it was at around 9:00 a.m. in case clear wants to check in with those particular workers.
Inept CS
Been having a verification issue. It's been a week with THREE separate CS agents. Each has said something completely different than the last. I've done everything they've asked me to do, and it still isn't working.
Naturally, on call 2 I asked for it to be escalated to tech support.
Refused.
Twice.
Allow me to share my latest back and forth.
Agent connected
Thank you for chatting with CLEAR! This is Emmanuel. I'm happy to assist you. Can you please provide your full name, date of birth, and email address.
Emmanuel R
After a 3 day wait and doing all the things the last CS agent told me to do, I STILL cannot verify my account on LinkedIn because of an issue with Clear. I need this escalated to tech support. I have changed my name with my carrier, I have waited and waited and waited, and now I'm done. If you want the history - - look up ____________________ and the email is _____________
I see, so you're having an issue with verifying your account on LinkedIn and need assistance. You had the phone number associated with you updated to reflect your name and are still having issues. What is the error you are receiving now?
Emmanuel R
same one - cannot be verified because it was previously verified. I had confirmed via linkedin months ago, but had to delete and start the account over
Can you type the exact message you are seeing when you do so? I need to confirm that information.
Emmanuel R
This CLEAR account has already been used with a Linkedin profile, each CLEAR account verification can only be added to one linkedin profile. I only have one...and that's the new one. The old one has been deleted for at least two months
I'm seeing that you may have three potential accounts linked to your information. That's more than likely the cause of the issue. One moment as I do a bit of clean up here on my end. This will most definitely take a bit of time. Thank you for your patience in advance.
Emmanuel R
this was supposedly already done...you are the third CS person I've spoken with about this, and all 3 of you have had completely different things to say. So can I please have this escalated. I've already spent more than an hour and a half dealing with this nonsense
Again, please give me a moment to get a few things situated. I don't need to escalate this since I can resolve this myself. Thank you for your patience.
Emmanuel R
I've heard this two other times
If it was that simple, why couldn't one of your co-workers get it fixed prior to today?
And it's your first time dealing with me, so I thank you for your patience. One moment please.
Emmanuel R
Do you have any idea how frustrating this is?
I'm asking nicely...I'm sure you're good at what you do, but I would prefer for this to be escalated
I can definitely understand that. Which is why, if you give me the time to do so, I will get this taken care of for you. One moment please.
Emmanuel R
(about 6 minutes later)
still waiting
Yes. Thank you for your patience.
Emmanuel R
And how much longer would you like me to patient? It's been a week and hours dealing with this
B, I have been chatting with you for just a shy of twenty minutes. I am working on your issue. I have thanked you for your patience before, I am asking for it now. Thank you.
Emmanuel R
And I've asked multiple times for this to be kicked up the ladder, but you're not listening to my requests either. So how about you give me an idea of how much longer I need to stay on this chat to get this situation either fixed or elevated?
Brian, I am working on your escalation now. I am trying to work on your case and respond to you and multiple other members simultaneously. Again, for the last time, thank you for your patience as I work on getting this resolved for you and give you a case number for your issue. One moment please. I will be back with more details.
Also, can you provide me with the type of cell phone you have and what page of linkedIn you are receiving the error on?
Emmanuel R
it's an iphone, and it's part of the "verify" module on the app.
Thank you for that information. One moment as I finalize your escalation.
Emmanuel R
(5 minutes later)
What iPhone is it?
16PM
and have never had an issue prior to this with this exact phone and CLEAR
(another 6 or 7 minutes)
i have one more minute to spend on this and then I need to move on with my day. this is getting ridiculous
I will send you an email with your case details. Have a good day
Emmanuel R
Thanks Clear...you guys are just AWESOME!
Total SCAM
Total mis-information regarding membership. Told no charges unless we signed up. Never told about an automatic membership and automatic charges to our CC. Complete Scam.
Buyer beware- do your research before…
Buyer beware- do your research before signing up. Deceitful enrollment language buried in layered terms and conditions. I paid 208 for a bundle of clear membership and TSA pre-check however because I did not get my biometrics finalized for both within a week I lost the TSA pre-check membership and ended up having to pay out-of-pocket another $80 for this service. The enrollment center for clear plus is four hours away from my home and precheck was 2 hours. They would not credit my additional precheck fee or offer me any consolidation. Customer service takes forever to reach an agent and they will not offer any refunds. I’m out 208 bc I cannot get verified for my biometrics anytime soon and I had to pay out of pocket for recheck. Scammers. This is a private business and not government funded like tsa. Avoid if possible.
Absolutely dreadful
Absolutely dreadful. Complete daylight robbery. My family and I travelling back from Denver to the UK were asked to "try" this service. I asked 3 times would we be charged for this and was assured we would not be. I even questioned when entering our information and the last assured me it was totally free. We were charged over $300. Currently they are refusing a refund. Extremely poor and I would totally advise to stay away at all costs.
